QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) Against this team, with their bullpen, and with rain potentially on the way? I think you'd be better off thinking about the strategy. I have no clue how close the rain is to coming. If it's going to be there within the hour, then you think of that. However, we needed a hit to score some runs. If we were up 3-0, then I'd say take until you get a strike.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Why do you say that?? Because Buehrle has nothing. It would have been more frustrating if Buehrle pitched great, and we went on to lose the game 1-0. And yes, I know it's not over. However, I can't see Buehrle keeping the Indians to only 3 runs, and our lineup lacks serious punch today.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) You can add Mackowiak to the list of guys that should be looking until they get a strike especially after the long at-bat by Konerko. At some point, you have to be more worried about trying to get a hit than working the count. Mackowiak against C.C. is a bad match-up. I have no problem with Mackowiak trying to get a hit without taking a strike. He's a streaky hitter, and is coming off his best game of the year.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) This is now the worst sox lineup i have seen since jerry manuel days. I'm almost happy we're playing the Indians, who could and would have likely beat us with our normal lineup today. It's better than trotting this lineup out against the Royals, and losing to them.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Now this is dumb. If Dye wasnt 100% you could at least of had Crede back up Kong. We could of had Dye DH also. WTF Yeah, it makes no sense. This is another case where the Gload spot on the roster makes no sense. Find us a back-up righty outfielder!

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Mack in for Dye. That's not good at all.
-
Quick, totally irrelevant stat: Brian Anderson's OPS vs rhp is .442

QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) This is one of those Buerhle games like the A's game last year in late April, or was it May? Yep, it happens with him. Some games, he's just up with everything and the other team acts like they know what's coming. It's not a problem....happens with Buehrle every year about 4 or 5 times.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) This game is about to get out of hand. It's about time we had one of those.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Anderson is understandable, Uribe hitting like s*** for the amount of time he has been in the majors is stupid. With the mechanics he has at the plate right now, he has almost no chance for a hit if the pitch isn't on the inner-half of the plate. If anyone can have a soft one for the whole week, it was Uribe last week.
-
Who's the long man today? McCarthy should get an inning or two to try and regain his command.
-
The best news of the day is seeing Dye back in the lineup. Is there any chance that this game, and the game from last Monday, won't count because we're fielding a split-squad lineup?
-
Don't worry....at least Anderson is leading off next inning. I hope their first baseman is worried for the rocket that's coming his way.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) BENCH HIM! His mechanics are worse than a female college basketball player's 3 point stroke.
-
The meat of our order is coming up.

Hafner's the most dangerous hitter in the American League. He's become just an unbelievably tough out.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Last year was the other way around. Widger was actually better...mainly because Widger drew Buehrle a lot. All I know is that from the games I've seen Widger catch this year, he's been afraid to consistently call for an inside pitch. The game he called vs Toronto, when Vazquez got crushed, was real poor.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Any chance he recovers from this inning and coasts to the 7th? Possibly...but if C.C. is throwing strikes, this lineup will have a difficult time scoring 3 runs against him. It's too bad they didn't start Byrd today.
-
How can you have a dead arm period when you only throw 86 mph to start?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) This will more than likely be blamed on god, I mean Widger but Buehrle looks like s*** right now, period. This particular Indians lineup is going to crush Buehrle this season.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 2, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Mark is throwing batting practice out there. Must be the Sunday lineups fault. No....but the one thing I've always argued about the "Sunday lineup" is that the intensity of the team is down. Of course, that's what usually happens when you bench 33 pct of your starting lineup.
-
Can we please not have Widger catch for Buehrle. I'm not blaming Widger for this, but you can tell there's no rhythm between the two.
-
Can we just have a rain delay/postponed game, and go home?
-
This is the definition of a get-away game. I'm sure our players would love for this to be a 2 hour game. That's not going to be the only low pitch count inning of this game.
-
We can definitely use a righty specialist. There's simply no reason to have 3 lefties in your bullpen.
