  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 7, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Good start for Buehrle by retiring the first man he faced and not immediately sucking. Thru two batters, he looks awful. Everything's up in the zone.
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 7, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) I've noticed. It's a close call, but give me Javier. But yeah, that guy and Smoltz are the closest calls. With the way the ball jumps out of Arizona, Webb and his super sinker's a better fit than Vazquez. I do think it's interesting that Vazquez is throwing more 2 seam fastballs this year in order to keep the ball in the park. The only homer he allowed was a massive hanger hit by Hillenbrand.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 7, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Call me crazy, but that's just how I see it. Jeremy Bonderman and Felix Hernandez have yet to really take off, and I think that Javier owns dudes like CC Sabathia, Brad Penny, Brandon Webb, Zach Duke, Livan Hernandez, etc. The only team that I could go either way on is Atlanta (John Smoltz). Brandon Webb is fantastic now.
  4. Another game with 3 benchers getting the start.
  5. The only player I miss that we used to have was Gio. He's doing excellent in the minors.
  6. You can always count on Paul Bako to help you out. One of my favorite baseball memories is Bako making the final out in the NLCS against the Marlins.
  7. Lets go Vaz....don't give them a chance to even make a comeback.
  8. Wow...that's a ball that should have been caught also.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 7, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) Podsednik just blew it. It was a tough play. Mediocre outfielders can't be expected to catch that.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 7, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) Keep the shutout. Just keep KC out of this game. As we know, they have a habit of getting back into games against us.
  11. I couldn't be happier with Iguchi's performance at the plate and in the field so far. He started off strong last season also, and then he tailed off as the year went on. Hopefully, he can stay consistent throughout the year.
  12. If we can continue to get our 7-8-9 hitters on base, this lineup is so damn strong. I haven't had time to say this recently, but you don't f*** with our 3-4-5 (get well soon Dye).
  13. Very nice catch by Gload. If he can play solid defense in the outfield, he's much more useful on this team.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 7, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Has Juan ever singled to the opposite field? I'd say he hasn't except he's had to have made contact with some of those low and away sliders.... When he was swinging awesome two seasons ago, he used to hit rockets to right field (even quite a few opposite field homers). Now....well, he's a defensive specialist.
  15. "And a 1-2-3 inning....and the homer by Brian Anderson"
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 6, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) That can't be!! He was a part of that 7-8-9 that sucks. I think it was the first run scored by a starter in the 7-8-9 spot in the last 5 games.
  17. Pods, Iguchi, Thome, PK, AJP, Crede, Gload, Uribe, and Anderson
  18. QUOTE(Dan @ May 6, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) i wouldnt underestimate the Royals. they are a good baseball team, but their record doesnt reflect it, so many people like yourself just assume that they suck. just look at john buck for instance. he may not be swinging a good bat but he can gun down a runner with the best of em. Pods doesnt have 1 SB(that i know of) with Buck behind the plate and has been caught stealing by him at least three times. if you disect it all and look at every player, they have a pretty respectable lineup. They're a terrible team, and without Sweeney and Sanders, they're a pathetic team.
  19. Good thing I was out last night, as I'm sure I would have been posting a thousand times on this debate. I got to watch the 9th inning last night, and the second I saw Thornton on the mound, I sensed trouble. There's a reason some guys can't pitch the 9th inning. Thornton's control has always been shaky, and you can't afford the leadoff walk. After reading this thread, I agree with jabroni. Stop f***ing around, and let your closer get 3 outs. If they tie the game or go ahead, then you tip your cap. And can we please end the Boone Logan experience. And can we please stop having 3 starters on the bench (even though with Dye out, it's a little different).
  20. Ugh....one of the ugliest hitting innings of the season for the Sox.
  21. Hopefully tonight can be the first time all year we've won with 3 subs in the starting lineup.
  22. Garland has got to keep his change down in the zone.
  23. AJP = Warning Track Power. If this was last year, I would have wondered if he was off the juice.
  24. Ugh...can't walk the number 9 hitter.
