  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) HOPEFULLY he can make it through 5 Well, Ozzie's going to give him at least 5 innings. I just hope Ozzie is proactive in his approach with the bullpen tonight. Our pen should be fresh.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Letting Millwood and Howry go is going to hurt em IMO I didn't know that Matt Miller is lost for the season. He was a solid reliever for them.
  3. It's so refreshing to hear DJ be critical of Garcia's approach.
  4. 89 mph for Garcia on that fastball. His changeup was 79 mph.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Yeesh. Sadly, I doubt I'm the only one who fully expects Cleveland to come back in this game.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Yes, the pitch selection was correct, Freddy didn't mean to hang the curve though. He's not trying to hang his breaking stuff. ^^^^^^^^
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) That's cause Torii tried hitting all 3 to me in Carbondale. He swung so hard that he was opening up extremely early, that was just an awful at bat. They were such bad pitches that Hunter swung under them. Trust me, I'm not complaining about the outcome. I'm just not confident he's going to keep the Twins scoreless with the stuff he has right now.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) He threw three high curves and Torii didn't get close to hitting any. I'm glad Freddy went back to it. Judging by Garcia shaking his head after the inning, I can guarantee he didn't mean to throw 4 high curves to Hunter.
  9. OMG....thank you. The more rolling curves I see, the more I wonder what's going on with that right shoulder.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) It depends on what you're watching. Supposedly, WGN has him mid-80's. FSN North has him upper 80's and topping at ~92. I'm not getting a velocity reading...just using my own two eyes to judge his stuff. He hung that first pitch big time to Hunter.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) It is? No it's not. Ugh. JD loses one in the lights. If this is Garcia's quality stuff, then something is wrong with him. He has no snap on his offspeed pitch, and his fastball seems flat.
  12. Yikes....that was ugly. We got lucky that stayed in front of him.
  13. Well...I see what everyone's saying about Garcia's stuff lacking tonight.
  14. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) DJ said they dont throw changeups in Japan, I didnt know that Iguchi has adjusted well That's funny, because it seems most Japanese pitchers throw changeups when they come over. I've always heard that the 2-seam fastball is the hardest pitch for Japanese hitters to adjust to when they play in the majors.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Terrible call. We're hitting Radke left and right, and it's the second inning. Also should note that with a man on second you bunt down the third base line. Especially because it's not like it's hard for someone to try and pull a ball to the right side against Radke.
  16. I missed the first 1 1/2 innings, but by reading this thread, I can assume that Garcia's not throwing very hard? The radio guys made it sound like his offspeed pitches weren't biting very much. Also, can Chris Singleton please not say "GOT IT" when a guy hits a homer. It sure seems as if they're saying the outfielder caught the ball.
  17. What a fantastic swing by Iguchi. I love to see guys adjust to the changeup with two strikes.
  18. Have we had any successful bunts this season? This early in the game, I hate the idea of playing for one run.
  19. QUOTE(ChiSoxCE2005 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Hey everyone! Does anyone know if Stewart and Castillo are back for Minny tonight?? They're not
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) More Pujols love: The guy is just a joy to watch. Bases loaded and 2 out in a tie game, he took a Williamson fastball right on the outside corner and just slapped it through the middle. Didn't try to do to much and got 2 rbi's. I found a quote on cubstalk that I just love about Pujols "god damn, does that b**** ever NOT come through?" As much as Sweeney seems like a Sox killer, at least he's past his prime, while Pujols seems to get better and better.
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) I agree on his talent level - I think he has been derided in here with no basis in reality. However, with PK and Thome in front of him (and Rogowski and Fields behind him), I wouldn't mind letting him go for the right deal. He is handy to have around, but not a necessity by any means. With all due repect to Mr. Gload....he's worthless on this team.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Pujols has 1,000 career hits and he's 26 years old... It's gonna be incredible tracking this guys career. He has a realistic shot of hitting 100 career homers against some of the NL Central teams. He already has close to 30 homers against teams like the Cubs, Pirates, and Reds, and then new ballparks in Cincy and StL are only going to make it easier.
