  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) How so? What? Huh? It seems like the chances of the Sox resigning PK are fading by the day. I've heard from different sources that the Sox are interested in signing Nomar if PK goes elsewhere. Nomar would be a DH/back-up 3B.
  2. QUOTE(heirdog @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) If he can guarantee that 5th year at $13 mill per, he could really help get PK back but alas, it will fall to KW and Jerry. Prediction: Thome will be batting clean-up and protecting Dye Dye won't be batting 3rd. My prediction is that Nomar will be batting 3rd for the Sox next season.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Let's just hope it doesn't translate to the top FA on the market as well. I have a feeling that it's definitely going to. The best thing going for the White Sox right now is the whole Manny saga.
  4. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) losing the heart-and-soul stings now, but the 06-07 team is going to have a new heart-and-soul. that slot always seems to get filled... The heart and soul of this team was PK and Buehrle.
  5. The worms around home plate and the pitcher's mound are having a great time this Thanksgiving. Rowand killed so many of them last year, they were on the protection list from becoming extinct. Also, no one should be worried about how the clubhouse is after this trade. Thome is one of the best teammates in baseball. Trust me, if AJP can fit right in with this team, Thome will be just fine. Him and Buehrle can go hunting if they want. As for the prospects we gave up, while they're both highly rated, it's not like we have a history of getting the best out of every top pitching prospect in our system. KW took a risk, and I LOVE IT!
  6. If anyone is upset Rowand got traded, they should have seen this coming about 2 weeks ago when he was mentioned in nearly every trade scenario.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Not if his '06 is anything like his '04. If that is the case his value will be 100X what it is right now IMO. And if his '06 season is like his '05 season, he'll have no value at all.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) It is truly a low risk/high reward situation, at least the way I look at it. Isn't that we should be doing after winning the World Series? Personally, I love the risk.
  9. How can people not be excited? He's easily our best lefty power hitter ever, and almost everyone thinks he'll be healthy. I'm personally not worried a second about the clubhouse. Thome is a GREAT guy. As long as we didn't give up one of our 5 core starting pitchers or Chris Young, this is great.
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Anybody thinks this trade is made if Rowand had, had a 2004 like season in 05? Not that it really matters. Just curious. No chance they would have traded him then. This is a great deal for the Sox.
  11. If the Mets sign Wagner also, this is a great deal for them. Closer has been a real weakness for them recently, and by adding one of the best in the game, getting a terrific offensive player like Delgado will only help. I also think losing Piazza will benefit the team in the long run.
  12. QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) that's what i think too. why fix something that aint broken? Ask the Angels from a couple of years ago how that worked for them. The rest of the teams in the AL Central will very likely be much improved this upcoming season. I think this team could use a little tweak, especially at the DH spot.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) FWIW, he also said any deal for Delgado with Marlins would likely have to include B-Mac. So you mean we can't trade Rowand and Marte for Thome, Delgado, and Pierre?
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Yup, we sure were. EXCEPT, Rowand was not rumored to be a part of that deal. You can't trade both Rowand--the starting CF of the NOW--and Chris Young--the starting CF of the FUTURE. Can't do it. I like Brian Anderson as much as the next guy, but you can't do it. Kenny knows this. You can if you're also going to trade for Juan Pierre.
  15. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Yup, that's it Bruce. Aaron Rowand AND Chris Young for Jim Thome. If the Phillies pick up more than half of Thome's deal, I wouldn't be shocked if the Sox agree to this trade. Remember, we were going to deal Young in that Griffey Jr. trade.
  16. QUOTE(Irishsox1 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) This guy Bruce Levine is a total Cubs apoligist. As a baseball "insider", the guy is a total hack. If he's reporting it, I know its a dead deal, or it wasn't a deal to begin with. Be prepared to have people say you're wrong.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) I'd bet that Kerry Wood will be the Cubs closer in 2006. The fact that they got Eyre and are getting Howry means Hendry is trying to get a real 'pen for the Cubs, but also have someone who could step in if Wood gets injured again or can't make the transition. No way. They signed Dempster to a pretty big deal. Wood will be in their starting rotation next season.
  18. Mueller might be brought in as a DH/back-up 3B. I HIGHLY doubt he's being brought in as a utility player.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) BTW Howry to cubs for 12 million. Is that official? That's a ridiculous contract.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) I think you are thinking of their PG Rondo. 19 rebounds from a point guard is unheard of.
  21. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Yep, he gone...But I would think Rowand goes to Philly for Thome. Then Marte for Pierre. That's really the only sensible thing I see out of this cluster of rumors. Quick question: Why do people think Marte and a mid-level prospect will be enough to get Pierre?
  22. What cracks me up is that he said the teams were in serious negotiations with these players involved.
  23. The title of this thread should probably be changed.
  24. QUOTE(S720 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Per Bruce Levine this morning, Phillies want Rowand AND Contreras/BMAC for Jim Thome. If this is the case, I say, "THE HELL WITH YOU! I'll stick with my players then." I heard the same thing. Levine said they were in serious negotiations. This would be an awful, awful trade.
