  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) The lead is 2.5. We play 2 crappy teams, then Cleveland. If they gain a game a series (really a game 1/2 in one) they would only tie us. So if they want to win the division they pretty much avhe to win 6 out of 7, then at least 2/3./ I think the Indians will lose 3 more games, at the most, this season. They're just on a sensational run. It was obvious this series that their offense is just so much more focused at the plate than the Sox. I'm just grateful we won last night.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) Ozzie will be bashed anytime the Sox lose. Agreed. I think a lot of people have finally been pushed over the ledge when it comes to stop supporting him.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) My good man Ozzie. WTF was that. So we bring in Marte with a one run lead to face Hafner, but don't have the confidence in him when we're down 2? I'm not saying it's the worst decision Ozzie has made this series, but I have a feeling he's going to get bashed for letting Garland face Hafner.
  4. This is in no way a reaction to what just happened, but I'm fairly confident the Indians will win the AL Central due to their easy schedule. They're playing at such a high level now. The Wild Card is a much more likely scenario, IMO.
  5. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) if tampa wins that puts the Yankees ahead by .5 in the East, right? and it would reduce our magic number for the wildcard to 8 Don't forget this...either the Red Sox or Yanks are guaranteed to lose another 2 games this season.
  6. These Indians hitters do a very good job at not getting themselves out.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) If we can win both the next series, I think we'll win the division and be a shoe-in for the playoffs. To win both series, we'd have to go 6-2. Considering we face Johan tomorrow, I'll be content with 5-3.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) Boston now losing. WC lead could be 3.5 From what I was told by someone, the magic number vs the Yanks and Red Sox was the same for the Sox coming into tonight.
  9. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) TB LEADS 5-4!!! J. Gomes is a f***ing stud! Here's an idea....don't pitch to Ortiz if he bats in the 9th.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) We've had 3 innings where we could have had big innings, but we just hit the ball right at people. That's how you have a shutout. It's not like they're not trying hard. I know we're complete opposites in terms of how we look at things, but I think you're going to have a hard time convincing people we hit into a lot of bad luck tonight. Yes, there's been some hard hit balls that were caught. However, if you only hit like 5 balls solid all night, you're going to struggle.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Just can't find a hole. Hard to find a lot of holes when you keep popping up
  12. SSI....How's Greg Walker's job secruity looking now?
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) If the offense pisses away that momentum I might just have to pound the hell out of something with my other hand Don't break a hand, break a finger. With a little over 10 games left in the season, you're going to need everyone one of those fingers.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) Well if that doesn't give us MO, nothing will. Wait, we just acquired Mo Vaughn? f*** yeah, he can be our number 3 hitter.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Ozzie never had the infield in last night...? But he should have in the ninth.
  16. Big pitch by Garland. He avoided the killer blow that inning.
  17. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) jonny needs to pitch out of this to have ANY chance to win 20, which seemed like a lock when he was 8-0 No offense to you, but I hope that this year has taught all Sox fans there's no such thing as "a lock" in sports.
  18. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Boone has a 2-0 count. i have a bad vibe Don't worry, Harold woke up just in time to tell Ozzie to walk him once it got to 3-0.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Wow see what happens when you go with the pitch instead of perpetually try to pull it like our dumbf*** hitters. They're not facing Cy Elarton though
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Double, 2nd and 3rd - 0 out I coulda sworn last nights game would give us some momentum Wouldn't it just be so typical of the Sox teams from the past 5 years to come out flat after a big win?
  21. Another hit, and it's a 2.5 lead again with a 3 game wild card lead.
