  1. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) BTW who was our spark off the bench in 2000? We really need a guy like Gload to go to battle in the tough spots! No matter who we have, Timo would be the first lefty off the bench in a big spot. Fair or not, that's the way it is.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) I just heard Nagin's comments on CNN. WOW That was fantastic. I wasn't paying attention to the television....but that really made me stop what I was doing and listen.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:31 AM) That Saturday comeback game on July 30th was a Fox game so I'm thinking it was most likely either the Sunday or Friday game then. Good point. Let me see what I can find out.
  4. The AL/NL East will both be good because of the high payrolls in those divisions. If the Orioles and Blue Jays spend a lot of money like they've said they will, the AL East will be damn good. For some reason, I've found myself rooting for the Mets this year. I love the mix of young studs like Wright and Reyes and Pedro/Beltran, etc. They're definitely a fun team to watch.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) I believe he was. Do you know what day this was? I wouldn't mind going back and seeing if it's on MLB.tv they tend to use the YES Network broadcast. It was when the Angels were facing the Yankees during a wknd series over a month ago. It might have been the Saturday game, which if my memory is correct, went into extra innings w/the Yanks making a huge comeback.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:20 AM) There's usually atleast 2 other guys in the booth and none of them jumped in and saved him? Wow. According to what my brother said, the announcers were just agreeing with everything he said. I think it was Paul O'Neill in the booth with them. Wasn't O'Neill probably on that team when it happened?
  7. Gload's the type of player that could get 250-300 ABs over the course of a regular season being the primary back-up at 1b, and able to DH in games against tough righty pitchers. I know that no one knows for sure, but it seems pretty clear that there's not exactly a great r'ship between Ozzie and Gload. Even before these comments, Gload wasn't coming back to the Sox organization.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 05:18 AM) How the f*** do you screw that up? Hell, I'd say 90% of this board knew it was Ruben Rivera, how does Michael Kay, a man so close to the Yankees, confuse the two? The worst thing is that NO ONE associated with the broadcast corrected him.
  9. Here's the Kay/Juan Rivera story: In a recent Angels/Yankees game, Derek Jeter robbed Juan Rivera of a hit. For the next 3 innings, Kay talked about how it was sweet justice against the guy whole stole his stuff when he was on the Yankees. Kay went out of his way to bash Rivera. Here's the thing....it was Ruben Rivera that stole stuff from the Yankees locker room, and not Juan Rivera.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 04:37 AM) Gload has just hit while he has been up here. It was frustrating for fans to watch Gload rake in AAA, while we barely could muster a few hits in some games. Its hard to look at his body of work in AAA and say that he didnt deserve a chance to help this team. He did...but now that he's up here, he should just focus on doing what he has to do in order to help the team. He knows he's going to be in a different organization after this season anyways. I don't know what he thought saying that stuff would do for his chances the rest of the season.
  11. I know Gload is frustrated, but the last thing we need is for a bench player to put himself above the team with a month left in the regular season. I have a feeling that it's stuff like this which is why he's never been a favorite of KW/Ozzie.
  12. Iguchi didn't play because he got stuck in traffic today, and showed up late.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) I disagree. The team was doing very well to start of the season, and that was during the period the many on the board had unofficially anointed him "dead." But it's not like our offense was performing well, even though we were winning games.
  14. Would you still be happy if the Tigers retaliate tomorrow, and PK gets a hand broken? I don't think we meant to hit him. If we did, that's classless.
  15. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Hermanson has to be healthy. Otherwise he should not be near the field in a 9 run game. SB I like it. He hasn't gotten a lot of work recently. The only thing worse than an injured pitcher is an injured pitcher who's rusty.
  16. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) Dye was still on the team when Pods left and we weren't scoring. Pods returns and we are scoring...it's like hes a voodoo doll and the team needs him in the lineup to be good. Dye is BETTER when Pods is in the lineup, on base or not...he just makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy. Dye was also struggling when we weren't scoring. We were scoring plenty of runs tonight with Pods having no significant offensive contribution before his last double.
  17. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Ok, now...is it just me, or is Podsednik officially the MVP and spark plug of this team? Pods returns, we score 5, 6, and what...5 runs, then Oz benches him yesterday and we are back to scoring a whopping 2 runs...put him back in today, and what do ya know...12 runs. Stop fu!@#$@ benching Pods...thank you. Rant over. I disagree. The most important hitter on the Sox is Jermaine Dye. When he's slumping, our offense sucks. When he's swinging the bat well, our offense looks much better.
  18. Haha, very funny comment by DJ about "the light".
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) This si great. Great momentum. Everybody wants to hit. Yep, and it's not bloopers, etc. Almost everyone is hitting the ball with authority.
  20. May I suggest removing Pods from the game though?
  21. What in the hell is this? I have a feeling the bandwagon will be full tonight!
  22. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) ????? I was serious. 2 hits, and some very good defense.
  23. Great job Iguchi!!! Man, it's nice to see a nice little swing like that instead of swinging for the fences.
