  1. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) If you gave me a helmet and a bat, and told me to face Garland, I wouldnt be scared. Id jump right in there. On the other hand, if you told me to face Pedro, Id tell you to get lost. Pedro is intimidating, Garland is not. Maybe its because Pedro will throw at anyone and be all ready for the fight. I like that. You dont hit a teammate of Pedro because he will get you. If Garland was pitching, they could peg Everett and PK in a row and Jon would still do nothing. Everett might whoop the pitchers ass, but on wouldnt do a thing. He is timid. Pedro lets everyone know whos in charge. Jon doesnt do that. So basically cause Garland isn't a head hunter, you wouldn't be scared of him? Well, Greg Maddux has hit more guys this year than Bobby Jenks. Still rather face Jenks that Maddux?
  2. Haha, Timo. I've almost learned to love his little quirks.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) They are so good at fouling pitches off. Especially the Greek God of the Walk.
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) eh 4 run game...you cant give up on politte...maybe some success here can help him get his rhythm back...if politte gets in trouble, cotts will be right behind him A 4 run game with Manny/Ortiz up 4th and 5th that inning is a lot different than a 4 run game with Dmitri Young lurking.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) eh 4 run game...you cant give up on politte...maybe some success here can help him get his rhythm back...if politte gets in trouble, cotts will be right behind him Marte's warming up.
  6. Why would you set up inside with Politte? Everyone knows that his ball tails back towards the hitter. Politte's control has been real shaky lately, and I'm not so sure he was our best choice to bring in this inning. What more does Cotts have to do Ozzie?
  7. The first two batters of this inning are extremely important. You don't want Ortiz or Ramirez coming up as the tying run.
  8. I just don't know how anyone could bash Garland this season for not attacking hitters. One of the main reasons for his success this year is that he's had a huge decrease in his walks this season. In the games he's struggled this year, it's been because he was hit hard. That happens over the course of the season, especially in the AL.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Nope. I just asked a question. FWIW, I know you were joking. A lot of us get into the habit of saying "we".
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) We are? When did you join the front office? Isn't that a personal attack?
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) they're not exactly trying on stretchign him out this season, i don't know about that. I've heard rumors that over the offseason, they want to make him a starter again. I disagree with the move, but since I don't make those decisions, I can only root for the best.
  12. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) i dunno i'm loving the count right now. if he can stay this way we've got a helluva rotation... i'm kinda partial to cotts stayin in relief tho I know this is for another thread, but I think there's an extremely high likelihood we trade him this offseason for offensive help.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) You think that Cotts will go back to being a starter? I think we're definitely going to try it.
  14. GREAT JOB MCCARTHY! However, he better not pitch to another batter today.
  15. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) the future makes me quiver with excitement Buehrle Garland Garcia Bmac Count or in whatever order. doesnt really matter but damn. f***in best rotation How about this in two years: Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, McCarthy, and Cotts
  16. Another pitch that should have been a strike. McCarthy is really racking up the pitches now. He shouldn't go over 120.
  17. McCarthy has great movement and a great release on his change-up.
  18. Ugh, hopefully these blown opportunities don't come back to haunt us.
  19. Terrible AB by Everett. Did he not know that Foulke throws a change-up?
  20. Everett is just flying off of the ball. Foulke's a great guy to look to hit it to the opposite field.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) 101. As of now BMAC is. He has pitched 105 pitches. I bet he doesn't come back for the next inning. I bet you he does.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) We still gotta get both of those runs home or be forced to hear the "Shilling is back" soundbytes on SC tonight. We will? It's not like he shut us down.
