  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) PABLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe Crede who? What did Brooks Ozuna do?
  2. This place is sure quiet. I feel somewhat responsible for these slow threads since I haven't been posting in them frequently. An update every once in a while about the game would be appreciated, especially things like good catches, just misses, etc.
  3. The answer to this is simple: You play the better lineup vs Detroit on Sunday, as you have a much better chance of winning at home with Garland on the mound instead of at Boston with McCarthy on the mound. I guarantee you though that Boston will go all out to win this game. I expect we'll still play a lot of starters. Let Gload play 1b, and let PK DH.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if now that Ozuna is actually playing a solid 3rd base that he'll be the everyday 3rd baseman the rest of the year even when Joe comes back. Ozzie just has to make sure to not overexpose Ozuna. A lot of bench players, when they get the chance to start on a daily basis, will do really well at first, and then just hit the wall.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) On the other hand...I wouldn't be surprised if that became part of the plan in the offseason, with Crede/Boras hitting arbitration. I highly doubt we have any plans of making Ozuna are full-time 3b next season. That would be a 30 error, 0 homer season waiting to happen. That's not exactly what you want out of your corner position player, especially with a defensive SS on the team.
  6. Real simply, I can't believe anyone wouldn't want the Indians to lose the rest of their games.
  7. I know I'm missed in this thread, but I'm watching the game in another room. The offense looks much better, but we're leaving way too many guys on.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) He's only a sophmore. Yep, which is why I said after NEXT season.
  9. Henne looks very impressive. He's going to make himself a lot of money after next season.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) I can't complain that much about babying a guy who seemingly is such a spark to your lineup that your whole offense falls apart when he hits the 15 day DL...especially when you're 1 month from starting the playoffs. So if we lose 3-2 tonight, can we still use the excuse that we lost because Pods wasn't in the lineup?
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/6560...04&type=Batting Trust me, I know Gload's a better hitter than Timo. However, it's become 100 percent obvious that Ozzie is more comfortable with Timo on the team than Gload. There's no reason to argue about this fact anymore. Once a manager rewards a player for being in a 4-40 slump by putting him in the 5th spot and leadoff spot in the same week, it's time to stop trying to think rationally.
  12. If the decision has nothing to do with the actual team on the field, then I don't really care. Rooney is a very good announcer....but I'll learn to deal with not having him do our games. I'd be a lot more upset if it had to do with a player leaving the team, etc.
  13. We sure do baby Podsednik. If he's such an influence on our lineup, he needs to be playing as frequently as possible.
  14. QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Now explain to me again why sending Gload down and bringing Adkins up was the right move. Can anyone explain this? Because Ozzie wanted a long reliever so he didn't have to use Viz, Politte, Cotts, Jenks, Marte, and Hermanson too much. That is the right decision if you ask me. Gload's numbers were impressive....IN THE MINORS!
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) Mike Huff did a really solid job to. He made me miss DJ. I had a handful of people call me up when he was announcing and asked "who the hell is this guy, he's terrible".
  16. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Adrian Petersen goes down...ankle How serious does it look?
  17. I'd like MJH much more if it was just MJ. I still couldn't believe that when Bruce "Mr. Zero" Levine came on the radio and said that the Sox had just traded Lee for Pods, that Harry's first question was "so Bruce, what closer are the Cubs going to trade for?"
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) That wasn't the case in 2004. We all know he's capable of it. There's no reason he can't be turning it on now. When Uribe is swinging the bat well, he's one of the more dangerous hitters in the AL because he can spray the ball all over the field. The new leg kick is awesome, as you can tell he's picking up the ball better.
  19. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) I am hoping that there is not an undocumented injury with Iguchi that they are trying to nurse. Iguchi wouldn't have ph last night if there was something wrong with him that was serious. I think Ozzie might be trying to see if Harris can provide a spark to this team. I really respect how Iguchi has played this year, but he's seemed out of it the past few weeks.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) I am probably Baj's biggest fan, but he didn't deserve to be up here over anyone we kept out of spring training. But as a mop up pitcher, he deserved a shot when Adkins got called up. Now it is September, and he is going to get another chance, and that is fine with me. You would know more about Baj than I do, but would he have been able to go 3 innings in mop-up duty without risking his arm like Adkins was able to do?
  21. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Dont they play fewer games in Japan, maybe he needs more rest to keep him fresh!!! Iguchi has said he doesn't like to rest, cause it throws off his swing.
  22. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) I prefer Iguchi hitting behind pods, always. I just like the dynamic and think it works. Obviously there is a good reason for him not starting tonight, so let's hope Willie strings together some more good AB's. I thought DJ made a good point last night that Harris is trying to turn on more balls and becoming more aggressive, rather than trying to slap the ball around. Works for me! Yeah, I absolutely hate when Harris just tries to glide the ball tot he opposite field. He's not skilled enough at that to do it successfully. I noticed that he was using more of a leg kick last night (as is Uribe), and seemed to be generating more bat speed.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) This is a good lineup while everyone is hitting. Ozuna has been getting hits basically every game he plays, and Rowand is a great hitter in the #5 spot. I also like Harris in the #9 spot more than Uribe there. Ozuna struggles against righties. However, I do like the idea of keeping the same lineup after a good hitting night.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) I don't think that's true at all, however I definitely think Gload can have helped this team out a lot and Baj definitely deserved a shot before Adkins imo. Trust me, there were many times this year where Gload should have been on the roster. I definitely agree with the person who said there was no excuse for him not to be up with the team when we were struggling so much. And as for Adkins over Baj.....Ozzie seemed to like Adkins last year when he was on the team the whole season, and didn't seem overly impressed with Baj (and I know, you shouldn't judge based on a handful of games). However, we called up Adkins because we needed a long reliever. Gload is a very good back-up player....but I don't think he's the type of starter we need on this team. We already have a SS, 3B, and CF who are defensive players. We need a booper at 1B.
  25. I don't mean this disrespectfully to anyone on this board or the players themselves.....but sometimes, it seems like people think if we had Gload and Baj on the roster the whole year, we'd be undefeated.
