  1. Griffey Jr. is in the starting lineup for the Reds tonight, FWIW.
  2. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Well, I don't know about that. If anything, I think it will be as expected. Many of us were anticipating a deal revolving around Chris Young and I think that is exactly what we're looking at. The real deal-breaker is going to be how much scratch Kenny is willing to take on. Well, the initial deal had Rogo in it. I'm pretty sure he can't be in the deal now. It still seems to me like Honel would be a definite possibility of being included in the trade.
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) I can't believe I'm getting into this. But... You have to wonder if Kenny is willing to take on more $ that would mean one less prospect or something to that end. Looking at the 40-man, Kenny is going to have to pull a serious rabbit out of his hat if Chris Young isn't involved in this deal. I think it's safe to say that if we do trade for Griffey Jr., the price is going to be a lot higher than many on this site thought it would be.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) Lets assume Bruce is right here, that still brings us right back to where we were on the 31st, needing the reds ownership to sign off on the deal. I'd absolutely love for this to happen and I'm already getting my hopes up but I just don't see it happening. Yep, all along, I've been saying that until we hear that the Reds ownership has changed their minds, there's nothing to get excited about. It would not shock me if KW has agreed to take on a lot of Griffey Jr.'s contract.
  5. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) My ideal line-up with Griff would be: pods (lf) Rowand (cf) Iguchi (2b) Giffey, (RF) Konerko (1b) Everett (DH) Pierzynski © Blum (3b) uribe (SS) Until Rowand starts hitting, he needs to stay out of the top of the lineup. Also, we can argue as much as we want about Iguchi, but he's staying in the 2 spot.
  6. WHERE WOULD HE PLAY?
  7. Anderson won't be included in the deal.
  8. If the Bears were to bring in WR Richmond Flowers, then Hutch would be a lot better. The addition of Flowers would allow them to start up the terrific duo, who rocked many hotels with their fantastic guitar playing/singing.
  9. I still can't believe the Cubs gave up on Dubois as quick as they did. He has enormous power. Hendry really should be fired for the mess he did with the Cubs this season.
  10. Well, I'm not getting my hopes up....but it's better that there's still a chance than Bruce saying the deal is dead.
  11. QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) It's always exiting to see the young guys make their debuts. Good luck to them all. Except there's not a single player we're likely to call up who hasn't played in the majors already.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) They've decided to give McCarthy the start in Texas, huh? Uh oh. We may be looking at another L. They've got his number. He still has a much better chance of having a quality start than any of our other options in the minors.
  13. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) You may need to ask Timo about the size of Ozzie's balls.... I believe that's a 15 yard unsportmanlike conduct penalty on EvilJester
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 06:42 AM) I beg to differ. Duque has been great of late. If he pitches this way going into the playoffs, He will start games, Book It. Duque's last three starts before tonight, he was 0-3 with an ERA over 5 (according to ESPN). While he's pitching a lot better than he when he was injured, I still think that he's the 5th best starter we have (which isn't an insult at all). I'm sure Ozzie would choose Duque over Contreras though if he had to pick between them.
  15. Any list that doesn't have Kevin Walker on it is fine with me. I think that's a pretty good initial list they've put together. I really think the addition of Willie's speed, and having an extra catcher on the bench, could help us in late innings.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:57 AM) I think too many look at the day to day situational stuff without taking a look at the big picture. Ozzie has to manage for the long haul and not just today's game. In my opinion, Ozzie's done a masterful job with this team. I've heard this argument lately, and I'm really interested in hearing exactly what this means. Is Ozzie really planning on letting Duque go more than 7 innings if we make the playoffs? Hell, is Duque even going to be starting in the playoffs? He's been pitching better, but he's still clearly not one of our top 4 starters. One thing I really want to see is Cotts pitch in late inning situations.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) Anderson - Rowand - Dye = best defensive OF in baseball. Not sure about that. The Braves defense is phenomenal right now. However, Anderson in the outfield is an upgrade on Pods.
  18. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) i still dont know people...i'd like to see us score more runs on consecutive hits rather than the long ball...but whatever gets the job done and what ever gets the win im happy. cant wait to get pods back...screw griffey we got anderson! im startin to like this kid. At this point, you have to score with what you have. It's all about winning games right now.
  19. This is a situation where Hermanson seems to walk a lot of batters.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:40 AM) With Hermanson's stuff, I always am nervous b/c he will hang curves and sliders frequently and his fastball isn't overpowering. I would rather Jenks be the closer even with the lack of experience, but hey Hermanon despite the back and the hangers, keeps gettinng the job done. Couldn't have said it better myself. He deserves the role right now. However, another blown save in the next week, and you might have to consider other options.
  21. Great range by Anderson there. The camera angle made it look like that was a definite gapper.
  22. That's the same thing Beltre did last time he faced Hermanson.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:37 AM) I hate 'closers'... No kidding. You go with the pitcher who has the best job of getting 3 outs while maintaining the lead.
