Hermanson's leaving some good pitching to hit out over the plate.
-
Blum with the interesting scoop there. Good play though.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Out of Young, Sweeney or Anderson if 1's dealt, I'd actualy like it to be Brian. He's probably got the least potential out of the 3 but is the most sure thing. Maybe in a trade for a 3rd baseman in the off-season perhaps? For some reason, I always thought the Sox would move Sweeney to 1b. Is that even an option?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) True, I'm just assuming he's with a big league club next season. Not necessarily this one, but a big league club, nonetheless Well put

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) that's kind of how i'm feeling. This team lost 2 of it's "go to guys", it's going to take a bit of time for this lineup to mesh together. Also, the expectations for Brock, Randle, and some of the true freshman are absolutely ridiculous. As much as I hate them, Duke has an amazing team this year. Shelden Williams is way too good of a defensive player for the college level, and Redick is just such a good scorer. -
Am I the only one that got nervous on those last two outs?
-
Politte has just been a little off lately. His fastball keeps tailing back over the plate. I'm still grateful Sexson's ball didn't go out of the park in that Sunday game.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) i hate that one handed catch he does. ill say this right now, there may not be an OF out there that has stronger arms than the one out there now. even if rowands arm is only average-slightly above average Is Anderson's arm really that good? I still laugh about the Angels outfield for a few games last year with Vlad, Guillen, and Mondesi. The Braves have a great throwing outfield, as Francouer has an absolute rifle.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) Good Marte is getting that call low on the outside corner. That's always a good sign. Yep, that's always the key for him. He got away with a massive hanger to Mauer, and then aced him. How many times this AB will Hawk call LeCroy "country-strong"?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) I am happy. I'm happy he got the hit. I'm happy we're winning. I'm not happy, however, that this hit will mean another few days of him leading off. That's why it's bittersweet. He had a double already tonight. If Ozzie is going to play him when he's like 5 for his last 40, he's going to play him no matter what.

Anyone else think that was gone off of Morneau's bat?
-
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Seriously, da Chort. The bummer here is that people only see the 4 or 5 clutch hits but totally ignore the 73% of the time he fails to get on base. I hate Timo more than anyone, but if he contributes to the team, we should be happy.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Watchin him on those high fastballs obviously he's got to work on that quite a bit, with his swings. A very good AB that was though. Like I said, he should have never seen a change-up. Reminded me of Cotts vs Josh Phelps last year.
-
BTW, enjoy this Jphat. For all the s*** you took last night, savor this moment. And I'm not being sarcastic at all.
-
Punto is making some sick plays this series. Garcia better not be on the mound. I have a feeling it's Marte, even though he can't get lefties out.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) All you Timo haters have to be perplexed right now. Do you cheer for the "clutch" two run double or fear how often Timo may be our leadoff man in the future? I cheer. I don't care who the f***ing leadoff hitter is, as long as we win.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) That was a good hit by Brian, reminded me of one Crede had earlier in the year ball down low 1 hand on the bat. I'm not sure if you watched a lot of the spring training games, but I remembered Anderson getting a lot of bloopers and flares. Does anyone else remember seeing these types of hits frequently?
-
TIMO!!!!!!!!! I hate you, but way to f***ing go! Why did Gardenhire let Radke face him, when Timo has owned him? I'll take it.
-
Congrats on the first hit, and thank you Radke for speeding up his bat. IT'S TIMO TIME!
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) Anderson looks terrible. Make excuses all you want about jitters or inexperience, but the swings he's put up there are disgusting. I'm hoping for the best, but he really does look like a pitcher. He's had some great fastballs to hit.
-
Good grief, cut your swing down.
-
Bench his f***ing ass! What a terrible player.
-
You know what I don't understand: Uribe is swinging the bat well, yet we put him in front of Crede? Not exactly a way to keep a rally going.
-
Marte will be out to start the 9th. Tough break for Rowand, as he hammered that ball.

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) i guess i'm playing the "fathom" of illini fans here (joking) but i just think the lack of experience on this team is going to hurt them this year. I think we'll hover around the 20s Lucky for you, the one thing I know more than baseball is college basketball. Illinois will be good this year, but they're going to be a totally different team than they were last year. The main reason they were so great last year is that they were a phenomenal shooting team. You leave them open, and they'd drain it. There's a gigantic dropoff in the shooting ability from someone like Head to Randle. Michigan St. will be the class of the Big 10, but I fully expect Illinois to get around a 4 seed next year.
