  1. Ha, you know these guys were calling up are bad when someone says that Danny Wright was never this bad. If KW doesn't acquire another starter this offseason, he should never be allowed to be a GM again. Hawk is so pissed off right now.

    Borchard

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but for the rest of the season, Borchard should be starting everyday. With that in mind, people should be happy if he looks good at the plate, and not complain. All you can ask for someone like Borchard is to hit the ball hard. He'll always K a lot, it's just a matter of maximizing his strength. Would people rather see Timo in RF everyday? I sure wouldnt. Timo doesnt have a chance to start for this team in the future, Borchard does.
  3. I agree that Sandy could be a valuable addition to any coaching staff. However, is anyone else worried that Ozzie stated he could have a few good years left? Hopefully this was just to be nice, and not how the organization really feels. Nothing against Sandy, but he better not be playing for the Sox on the field next year.
  4. If it's true Freddy is ailing, I hope they shut him down for the rest of the year. Absolutely no reason to injure him. I'd rather see Stewart have a 20 ERA for 7 starts than have Garcia hurt himself for the future.
  5. I think he got it from the Sox postgame show and D. Wills. We better hope that this is just a minor thing, and won't require surgery. Don't get me started on what should be done if he is out for a long time
  6. Just say no to Everett in the field! The last thing this organization needs is for the worst fielding outfielder in baseball to be playing the field on a regular basis.

The thing with Cotts is that I don't know how he'll ever be able to start with only one true pitch. Not only does he need an offspeed pitch, but his control isn't exactly reliable. I wouldn't be opposed to KW using Cotts as a chip to trade if he has some value. Not that I don't think he can't be good, I just don't think he's as close as people think he is.

With Adkins, I said I was still unsure of what he is. I've actually been very happy with what Adkins has given us this year, but he's still unproven. Actually, his numbers this year are better than they were in the minors. Cotts, on the other hand, was dominant in the minors. However, his ERA since he's been in the big leagues has been bad. That's why I classify him as a AAAA player so far. He has plenty of time to lose that moniker.
  9. Will someone please teach Cotts another pitch besides a fastball!!!

The only reason I put Willie on that list is cause the difference in his homer and steal numbers from AAA to the big leagues. I agree though that he shouldnt be on that list. Sorry.

Exactly. That's the smartest thing I've heard in a long time on here. Just think of the guys that match that: -Harris -Borchard -Stewart -Adkins (still in doubt) -Cotts -Crede I blame a ton of this on our player development. I can't think of an organization that is worse at developing their own players.
  12. Who's the next contestant in the number 5 starter contest? Diaz, Cotts, ? What a freaking joke.

    Stewart

Like I said in the thread, I have a feeling this is the last game Stewart will ever start for the Sox. He's not a major league starter.
  14. Ozzie's going to have a tough choice here between trying to get Stewart the win or taking him out before the game gets too close. Hopefully Stewart can make it 5.

The biggest problem I see with Stewart is that his fastball is way too straight. If you throw 87 mph in the majors, you need some movement or sink to it. Rather, his fastball just sits on a platter for the batter.
  16. Umpire has a total different zone for the Indians pitchers than he has for Stewart so far. The last pitch to Rowand was a strike, but the one before it was nowhere close.
  17. Yeah, Stewart has been getting squeezed from the very first batter on. Of all the pitchers on this team, he's the last pitcher on this team that can succeed w/this type of umpire.
  18. Stewart isn't going to make it out of the 2nd inning. The Indians have been playing pepper with the left centerfield wall. I hope this is the last start Stewart ever has with the Sox.
  19. One huge difference between Rowand and Hunter, Damon, Kotsay, and Wells is that Rowand isnt making the large amount of money that these guys are. What's Rowand's contract status?
  20. 6-2...Indians are lauching balls off of Stewart, who looks like a deer in the headlights.
  21. Considering that Loaiza will want more than double that 4 million, that's a great deal for the Sox. There has also been talk that the Sox could try to make Contreras a closer. That could be interesting. All I remember about Contreras is how he absolutely dominated a good Sox lineup last year at end of season.
  22. Any note of how much the cash was for Contreras? Also, for anyone complaining about giving up Loaiza, remember this stat: 2 of his last 11 starts have been quality starts. J. Navarro could have done that.
  23. This is a tremendous deal by KW!! Loaiza isn't anywhere near as good as he was last year, and there was no way he was coming back. Hopefully, we got a lot of money from the Yanks to pay the next 3 yrs of Contreras salary. Think of it this way: If he was a prospect, he'd be as high of a pitching prospect that existed in mlb. I would love him w/Buehrle, Garcia, and Garland next year. Way to go KW.
  24. And you know what? They aren't coming back this season.
  25. Seriously, what in the hell was KW and company thinking when they made Borchard untradable, but were willing to give up J. Reed? Borchard looks as hopeless in the majors as any prospect I've seen in a long time. The Bears need a 3rd string QB Joe.
