  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Hawk's thoughts have no bearing on what Williams is going to do. Where would he play? DH? LF? Rotate him and Everett? Sorry, Hawk, you make room for guys with .850 OPS'... Hawk is the mouthpiece for the organization. He knows what's going on in terms of personnel moves more than just about anyone. They definitely seemed to stress the fact tonight that Griffey Jr. wouldn't fit in with this team.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) I feel we're just not playing to our strengths anymore. Our offense needs to stop living and dying by the home run. I agree. The thing is, we have a bunch of hitters who are home run hitters. For a team that's supposed to play smallball, we don't have a lot of line drive hitters/good situational hitters. It was just a matter of time before our pitching faded back to above average numbers (what the pitchers did in the first half was simply amazing). Quite simply, we just need to win some games. That's one of the reasons that I hate how some people say stuff like "All the Sox have to do is go 23-24, and they'll make it easily". Since when is it guaranteed that we're going to go .500? We don't have that amazing talent level that would allow us to just coast and rack up wins no matter how poorly we play that night.
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) Agreed. This isn't as fun to watch the past few days. I just don't feel like we're the same team we were in the first half. We need a spark. Is it because we're slumping, or we're playing to our talent level?
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Alright, enough is enough, as one of the board optimists, I can't make any more excesses. This team needs to wake the f*** up, or a major shake up needs to be made. Kenny Williams best be calling O'hare to see when he can get Jr. to Chicago.... Tony, we never agree on anything. Would you agree with me that we've taken our proverbial foot off of the accelerator way too early? It starts at the top, and as much as Ozzie says we're not letting up, his actions sure seem like that of a manager who thinks we can coast the rest of the way. And judging by Hawk's statements tonight, the Griffey Jr. trades seem like a longshot.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) I am glad we dump our load everytime its August and we play the twins. Thankfully we have such a working margain, it would take an utter collapse for the Twins to catch the Sox.
  6. You hear that sound? It's the Joe Crede for Gold Glove bandwagon coming to a screeching halt. How many misplays is that for Crede lately?
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) It would be one thing if I just talked about last year, but I said both years. Why would we just analyze the year he hasn't done as well, just so you can bash another player and whine, whine whine I know a lot of people probably disagree with me on daily basis on here, but I think I speak for the majority of people on here when I say you're way off base with this. The reason I b**** about Timo? Because he absolutely sucks, and our manager gives him way too much playing time. Like I said earlier, 5 for your last 36 should resulted in a release, not a promotion to leadoff or number 5 hitter.
  8. Impressive bat speed by the Sox hitters. Does anyone notice the intensity the Twins players seem to have tonight? Ozzie has got to get the Sox back to playing with some balls and intensity.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Yah, lets just put this year in a vacuum and forget everything else. It has no bearing on anything. Wow. Fine, then AJP is an asshole, Juan Uribe and A. Rowand have 30 homer potential, and Jon Garland is a bust.
  10. This is f***ing pathetic.
  11. Our guys aren't coming close to catching up with Rincon's fastball.
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) He had the game wiinning HR earlier in the year against the TWins, though that was a start, he beat the Angels against awesome closer Krod, he tied up the game in a huge game against the A's and awesome closer Huston street. Had a huge 9th inning HR against FLA to win last year, Huge bases clearing double against LAA last year. A bunch of others. Stop talking about last year!
  13. Good professional AB by Everett there.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Fine, Look up his pinch hit numbers .... He sucks there too... Don't let a couple "game winning hits" distort your view.... f*** I'd ratcher have Kelly Dransfeldt in the line up. Dransfeldt had some clutch hits also.
  15. Uribe seems to have his swagger back. Keep him in the 2 spot for now.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) True, Wasn't sure if ANderson plays RF or LF or both. I honestly think I heard Ozzie said he'd play Anderson in CF, and Rowand in LF. I might be wrong, but that's what I thought I heard before the game.
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) It'll never happen. Iguchi really isn't a leadoff hitter at all. I think if Iguchi plays, you'll see Ozuna in the lineup to bat leadoff for him unless Timo's in the lineup. Ozzie said today that Iguchi would leadoff.
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) Haven't had one of our patented 8th, 9th inning comebacks in awhile. Now would be an ideal spot with several tough relievers due up these next two innigns. We've been facing better bullpens lately than what we were facing when we had those great comebacks. Where's Andy Sisco when we need him?
  19. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) Ozzie's manager of the year. Only tonight, it's on the planet Nimrod. He's been on vacation to planet Nimrod for about 3 weeks.
  20. QUOTE(WhiteSox311 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) how did griffey clear waivers when our offense blows this much dong. Do you know how waivers works? If not, look into it, and you'll get your answer.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) My line up tomorrow. Iguchi 2B Uribe SS Everett LF Konerko 1B Dye DH Rowand CF AJ C Anderson RF Crede 3B Mix and match Anderson, Dye, and Everett for OF or DH. Everett has got to DH. He's still not 100 percent. AJP will be higher up in the order. I love your idea though. Uribe is the type of guy who will likely be better higher up in the order, where he has to concentrate more with moving runners over, etc.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) Politte needs to pick it up, his splits so far this month aren't good at all. We need some momentum heading into the bottom of this inning. Your wish is granted.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) Very rarely do PH numbers impress anybody. Many have said that it is incredibly difficult to pinch hit. Timo has a bunch of big hits, a couple game-winning. This is one situation where Hawk's "don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit it applies." Considering how Ozzie likes to rest his starters seemingly every other day, you need a back-up outfielder who can be inserted into the starting lineup and produce. Timo gives you absolutely no offensive contribution.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) So I just want to check with you real quick. You are endorsing that we play BA correct? Absolutely. You can't keep playing a below average player who's slumping. I said it yesterday when the game was called: the worst thing about the game was that Timo just earned himself a handful of starts with his two bloopers. Most bench players that go 5 for 36 get released, not promoted to the leadoff or number 5 spot.
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) He'll definately be back. Hopefully it won't be for a significant time as a starter. He's been solid enough as a pinch hitter though. He's no Lenny Harris, but he has some big hits. He's been terrible as a pitch hitter this season. His numbers suck in the situations that Hawk and Ozzie think he's amazing at.
