QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) No, I don't think Harris is as good or better than Podsednik at stealing bases. I wasn't implying that. I just get tired of seeing people say, "he can't steal a base". He's 80% success rate on his career. He's doing something right... In my mind, Harris was a bad base runner. However, that doesn't mean he can't steal a base. Jose Valentin was a good base runner....yet couldn't steal a base.

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) WHY?!?!?! EVERYONE KNOWS MARTE CANT GET LEFTIES OUT Marte has great numbers against Koskie I thought. I have no problem with this move, as there's no reason to use Politte too long. Politte has been up in the zone a lot more than he was earlier in the year, and he's giving up a lot more hard hit balls recently.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Maybe you should send Ozzie an email. I know he'd like to hear your opinion! Thanks

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) And it's ALL Ozzie's fault... :rolly I never said that. I don't think it is at all. I had no problem with his managing up until the bottom of the 8th. I could understand leaving Duque in when he was cruising, even if his pitch count was up. However, I disagreed with him not having Ozuna run for AJP, and not having a ph for Crede instead of Uribe. The blame for this game should be on the players so far. Lets hope we can win this in the 9th, and not lose another day to subtract from our magic number.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Seriously. Fathom has to be one of the worst fans I have ever seen. Mercy. The man has his team at 69-36. Its one thing to say thats a crappy AB, but to sit there and second guess the manager with the best record in baseball. INcredible. Jphat....you've tried to make things personal w/me for a long time. I'm not going there, because we're all Sox fans, and that's good enough for me. I definitely dislike Ozzie's in-game managing...I've never said otherwise. Right now, Ozzie is hands down the Manager of the Year. However, they don't give out that award until after the season...not after July!

QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Fathom: At the end of this season, why don't you send in your application to take over Ozzie's job? But for now, I trust Ozzie's professional knowledge than your amaturish guessing! Ozzie is a great motivator. In terms of in-game strategy, there's not many worse in baseball. I would be saying that if we were 162-0 this season. It's not just me saying these things about Ozzie. If you really thought Ozzie managed good that inning, then there's no point in me arguing with you.

Blum's swing has looked awfully long since he came over. Good job Ozzie!!!
-
QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) Ozzie please PH for the guy that hasn't had a clue tonight and not for the guy that is hitting missles...:banghead These are the type of games where Ozzie is exposed for not having a clue what he's doing during the game. Someone might have wanted to tell Ozzie that Chulk is .100 pts better, in terms of batting average, against righties than lefties.
-
Crede looked worse than an NL pitcher in that f***ing AB. So Ozzie has Blum hit for Uribe instead of Crede? Uribe is swinging the bat pretty well now, while Crede has looked piss poor tonight. Bad managing this inning.
-
Dye continues to pop up some incredibly hittable pitches. BTW, Ozuna should be running for AJP here.
-
I have a bad feeling we'll see a 5-4-3 DP if Dye tries to pull the ball here.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) Then of course you have his .042 with a runner on third. .145 with scoring position and 2 out and a bunch of splits smattered all over the .200s. There is a ton of good and a good deal of bad too. Overall his offensive numbers, however, are undeniably good. As well as he has been a .300 hitter for over 2 months now. deserves more repsect than he gets from the fans. First, let me say great job with the stats. However, PK is paid a lot of money, and if you're batting in the 4th spot in the lineup, you need to produce better with RISP.
-
Why is Cotts being used as a situational lefty? Simply boggles my mind.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Does anyone here have faith in any of our pinch-hitters on the bench? Sadly, I have more faith in Timo than anyone else. We know he'll be the first one used anyways.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Konerko is clutch again. Take your long term contract and your bad BA with RISP and find another sucker to pay you 10 million a year. PK = Mets in 2006

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) still a horrible coaching move. Paulie has hit most of his HR's against RH pitchers, and has a much better avg. That guy is pretty dominant against righties. Walker had just walked two batters, and was hanging his slider this inning.
-
f***ing awful job by PK. He had to know a slider was coming, and he tried to pull it. This has been just a terrible offensive game by the Sox. What a shock, we can only score with a long ball!
-
Now that the runner is on third, no chance he gets a hit!
-
I'm happy Walker is out of the game. He seems damn tough on righties.

For those not watching, Phillies and Cubs were tied in the 9th. Phillies had bases loaded, one out. Burrell K'd on a 3-2 pitch, and it trickled away a little. Jimmy Rollins broke for home, but tried to get back to 3rd. Barrett threw it pretty wide of Ramirez at third, and Rollins ran once Barrett threw it. Basically, Rollins stole home, even though I have no clue how it will be scored. Reminded me of a little league play.
-
The Cubs just lost in awful, awful fashion!!!
-
QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) Scotty looks so lost right now. s***! Yep, he's completely in-between now.
-
Damn, Pods is just awful at the plate now. Is it time for Timo to go back in the leadoff spot!!!!!
-
Damn, that ball was hit hard by Uribe.
-
Good relay there by the Sox. I think everyone in the park thought that was a homer. Good job Duque.....now sit down!
