Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
The Royals relievers have looked much better this series than the Sox relievers.

The quality at bats this week by Everett continue. Thankfully, we have him batting in front of PK.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Not my fault Neal couldn't get the job done. Garcia had a QS. THat's getting the job done as a starter. Neals job is to hold the team down for one inning. He couldn't do it. He walked the leadoff hitter and blew it. Not even a negative person like myself can get mad at Cotts for having ONE bad outing for the first time in 24 appearances.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) good point fathom, at least i hope the players moaning doesn't somehow cause a funk. I wish Cleveland would lose a few f***ing games. I'm not afraid they will overtake us or anything but their excellence is pissing me off No s***. With the way they're playing, they're going to give the Sox all they can handle. The larger the lead, the more comfortable I'll feel when we face them. It's back to the point where everyone thinks it's a foregone conclusion the Sox will make the playoffs. Personally, I'm rooting for the Indians to get a large lead in the Wild Card in case things in the AL Central ever get too close.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) The Royals are playing small ball a la Ozzie with that bunt. Why do our guys go through these dead looking periods? Because this team isn't good enough to sleep walk through games and yet still win easily. It's tough to complain though about a 7 game winning streak, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt tonight.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) I think gettting worked over by the worst pitching staff in the majors for a 2 hitter is worse. Yeah, we've had 3 leadoff walks tonight, and did nothing about it. I guess too many balls hit right at people?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) There is the squeeze and a two run lead, now we are done. --If we are done without a fight at home against one of the worst teams in baseball history, we got problems. We aint done yet. I don't remember the last time we made a come back at home in the last two innings of the game. At least Pods and his near .200 OBP in LIPS is out of the game....IT'S TIMO TIME!

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) Thanks Neal. Leadoff walks suck. Yet you congratulate Garcia for s***ting the bed, hanging nearly every pitch in an inning, and costing us a hard fought lead? Ozzie did bring in Cotts....so how could it have been the wrong choice?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) PWNED How the f*** don't you see that coming We NEVER pitch out. Even when the entire country knows someone is going to try and steal 2nd base, we don't do a thing. It's fine though....now Cotts will be back in Ozzie's doghouse.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) I disagree. The players spoke out which shows balls and competitiveness. I don't think they will tank because of mere statements. That would make them wimps. Only time will tell I guess.

1st and 3rd, with one out...you need a K! Vizcaino is nowhere near the strike out pitcher that Cotts is.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Ozzie quit being a f***ing dumbass. Neal vs. RH>Viz vs. RH Cotts is a situational lefty. You should know better. And anyone criticizing Cotts right now is INSANE!

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) Hmmm if this was Marte again there would be mutiny on here. Good grief....Cotts hasn't allowed a run in over 20 outings. He walked a guy on a 3-2 pitch, and then gave up a chopper into the outfield. It's a big difference between that and hitting guys on terrible sliders.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Blah...this game seems to be sliding away. I want to be careful with what I say, but ever since I saw that s*** in the paper about the attendance, I had a terrible feeling that we might be due for a slump. It's one of those things where the players should have just stayed quiet and "stay the path".

Interesting game plan against Cotts: Don't swing!

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Looks like it's time for David Sanders and Kevin Walker to be our lefties out of the pen!

And that's why I don't make optimistic predictions Out of all the starters, Ozzie needs to resist benching Iguchi. He always states how it throws him off of his game. Besides Iguchi and PK, there's no problem giving one or two starters a rest every game.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
That was a great pitch for my prediction to come true. A slider will K him.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Ozzie seems to be saving Willie to run later in the game. It's kinda disturbing he's the only guy with any speed on our bench with the expanded roster.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Iguchi will hit a homer to the opposite field here. It's my one optimistic call of the season!

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Guess this means we'll see Timo in the 9th if Sox have to bat and the leadoff spot gets up again.

Wow, Ozzie is ph for Pods? Interesting move.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Ozuna seemed too busy trying to run instead of making sure he got that bunt down. I'm still not sure why we have Widger still in the game.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) Possibly the worst aspect of Howell's game to stomach was his poor location and equally poor arsenal. I compare his pitching performance to Douglass in that if we were to face him again, I guarantee the team scores more than 4 runs. They simply put together terrible AB's. When we took pitches, Howell made a lot of mistakes. You bail the pitcher out a lot of the time by swinging at the first offering.
