  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) Not really... he's still striking out a lot, and not walking a lot, which are pretty important. And, a .467 SLG% at Charlotte isn't great. I bet Chris Young will/could surpass .500 next year. Doesn't Chris Young strikeout a lot also?
  2. I'd rather have Borchard on this team over Timo in a heartbeat.
  3. How hard is it to understand what's going on with Baj: He had his chance last season to impress Ozzie, and he didn't. Ozzie is definitely the type of manager to favor certain players due to the way they play. Baj had his chance, and even though it was in a very limited period, he just didn't do much to make Ozzie eager to call him up this season. It's not like our bullpen has struggled this season.
  4. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) And he's a mediocre base stealer. Oh Shiny One, besides speed what do you bring to the table? It's part of the reason that Timo is worthless. He doesn't provide any speed off of the bench.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Adkins sure has been working on his fastball. That 86 mph heater sure looked good. And just like that, he makes a good pitch.
  6. Adkins sure has been working on his fastball. That 86 mph heater sure looked good.
  7. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Ozuna what do you bring to the table Sadly, he's the only guy with any speed on the bench.
  8. Haha, hopefully that will get Ozuna's ass on the bench. That's just ridiculous.
  9. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Despite all the Ozzie bashing on this site, I think he is the right guy to take this team into the playoffs. Well, everyone knows I disagree. It's for that reason that I made a promise last night that I won't post in the gamethread if the Sox make the playoffs. I'd rather just sit back and enjoy making the playoffs instead of criticizing every important move that's made.
  10. I got into the car today, and they were saying how great the White Sox comeback was last night? Did I miss something? Did we not blow a 4 run lead in that game?
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Hawk slurping Ken Griffey Jr. saying he knows him and Frank didn't take steroids. Sounds like he's campaigning for him. That pretty much means he's not coming to me. Why, if Hawk thinks the Sox might get him, he'll "slurp" him. It's when he doesn't praise him is when I think there's no chance of a deal.
  12. 5-0 Tampa after 3 1/2. Stranded the bases loaded with one out.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) Not the Drays? Least they are winning for u. Still a long way to go in that game. 5 run leads mean nothing vs the Indians it seems.
  14. This Thomas video illustrates how awful DJ is at annoucing. Can someone start a Blackjack campaign for 2006?
  15. This Thomas video has been the highlight of my night.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) I remember when people here were saying Cleveland's offense was overrated, that all their guys had career years in 2004. I felt like a lone wolf, nothing new. Those guys can hit and in general, they have good eyes at the plate. Something the Sox should scout and draft. Which I think they are finally starting to do. The kid 2B from Michigan they drafted ... Getz ... first taste of pro ball and way more walks than K's. Encouraging. They should have done that 5 years ago. Sizemore, Crisp, Perralta, Hafner, and VMart are an amazing top 5 hitters when you take into account their age. Sizemore is going to be an absolute stud in this league.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Bring back Magglio. I find it funny how people were against trade proposals thrown out by some people on this board involving A. Soriano or A. Dunn. Those two guys would look great in this lineup.
  18. Since when did Indians call up their former first-round pick J. Guthrie?
  19. Did you know Omar Vizquel is batting about .210 since the ASB?
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) You're right. Brian Anderson is not the answer in 2005. I would take Dmitri Young at this point. Not with that 8 million dollar option he has if he reaches 500 ABs this season.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) I love the Astros, they know how to turn it on when it counts. I especially love them when they play the Cubs. Me too. Morgan Ensberg is my favorite non-Sox player.
  22. That s***ty ace on Houston has a 2 hitter through 8 innings tonight.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) What you say here is new information, I didn't see you comment on the injury factor previously, only that Anderson should be brought up. No, I brought it up in regards to not having to use Timo and Ozuna to be playing a weeks worth of games if Pods is out.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) We can only hope we'd be b****ing about Brian Anderson leaving in 6 years. I was thinking that same point, but I can definitely understand JimH's viewpoint though.
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) He - would - be - sitting - on - the - bench - fathom. Six years from now you'd be worried about Anderson leaving, and complaining that his FA year came up too early because he got called up with a 12.5 game lead. Brian Anderson is no savior. He'll be up in 2.5 weeks anyways. I was talking about bringing up Anderson if Pods injury lingers like Everett's did for a week or so. If Pods can go on Monday, then you just wait until the September call-ups.
