AJP is stuck on automatic with the grounder to first base.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) We have th cable package, but as long as the Cardinals are on, I can't get the remote from the mother. I was spoiled having the dish at home. At my new place, I missed being able to turn on Indians or Twins games whenever I wanted. I'm very happy with my purchase.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Isn't it kind of hard to watch a baseball game on your computer? The games are full screen, right? It's actually very good. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves to watch baseball at all times.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) Viz should be our secret weapon vs. ManRam and Ortiz in the playoffs Yeah, not like Manny didn't hit one to Australia against him.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) 7-1 Mercy. That was a bomb. I decided to cave in and purchase mlbtv.com for a month. It was the first pitch I saw in that game. That's one of the longest homers I've ever seen.

7-1. Jonny Gomes just hit a monster homer.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
5-1 after 6 innings in the Indians game.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see McCarthy in our rotation for the next 8 years or so. I just don't think he's a guaranteed MLB starter.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) It's starting to rain again in Cleveland Is it? Indians have 2 on with 1 out, I see.

Indians now trail 5-1 in the 6th, and they're still batting.

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) did you see my email to you tonight, What did I say about pods being hurt? Yep, you called it.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) I've been on his case for a while. It probably explains his worthlessness the last month . This makes it even more integral that we find another OF/DH. We can't go with Timo and Ozuna in LF for two weeks.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) . BTW, Fathom, McCarthy must be doing something right to have struck out almost 120 in about 105 IP... Yep, he's facing minor league hitters.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) They are saying this is an injury he got while playing CF against Oakland. He has been hurt for some time. And has struggled for some time.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) Why not? Because he has a very, very straight fastball. Pitching in about half of your games at the Cell, you better learn to pitch down in the count.

I worry that Pods won't be the same for the rest of the year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) Quick saying that he's just gonna be a #4-#5 is one of the dumbest things I've read on this site in a while. Why's that? It's too early to tell about McCarthy, but he doesn't jump out at me as a sure-fire MLB starter for years to come.

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) I'm not saying they are gonna be studs either but you could go through any team and bash their system based on busts... Agreed, but a lot of teams have a lot more to show for their farm system in the last 5 years than the White Sox do. Luckily, we've made some trades that weren't blockbusters that really helped this team (Garland, Uribe, and Marte).

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Why must you mention everyone that isn't work out? Not Young, Sweeney, Anderson, Gio, Haigwood, Owens, BMac, Liotta, Valido, Haeger, Rogo, and Tracey? I'm not saying you're wrong, but lets wait until one of them actually contributes a thing at the MLB level. It's way too early to judge any of those guys.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) bTW the official site is saying Podsednik to the DL is possible, and management or scouts are telling Guillen that Jerry Owens is ready, but Guillen doesn't think he is. So apparantly they're looking at Owens if Pods is out. We'll see how it goes. Guillen wants a leadoff guy. Holy s***, we're screwed if Pods goes on the DL. Did he re-injure himself last night or something? At least I'd rather see Owens than Timo on a daily basis. Griffey Jr......your table is waiting!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) BTW -- Young is slugging almost .550 in a pitchers paradise, while Borchard is slugging .470 (approx) in a hitter's park. No s***. I read the same reports that you do. However, in regards to this season, Borchard would be the guy who gets called up. That's why we were talking about him.

Where was this offense the rest of the game? Big AB here for Uribe. What's the chance of a first pitch grounder to short?

Dye sure is streaky.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) But he walks, too. And, each month, his K/BB ratio has gotten better. I'm seeing improvement in all facets, like hitting for power, controlling the strike zone, making contact, etc -- not the same for Borchard. The Borchard to Young comparison is awful. I've never compared the two. If you're referring to me making the comparison, I was just responding to your statement about the two having similar slugging percentages.

I could watch Rowand hit against Wakefield all night. We need to get Dye on track, as our 3-4-5 guys are swinging very well.
