  1. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) eh 4 run game...you cant give up on politte...maybe some success here can help him get his rhythm back...if politte gets in trouble, cotts will be right behind him A 4 run game with Manny/Ortiz up 4th and 5th that inning is a lot different than a 4 run game with Dmitri Young lurking.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) eh 4 run game...you cant give up on politte...maybe some success here can help him get his rhythm back...if politte gets in trouble, cotts will be right behind him Marte's warming up.
  3. Why would you set up inside with Politte? Everyone knows that his ball tails back towards the hitter. Politte's control has been real shaky lately, and I'm not so sure he was our best choice to bring in this inning. What more does Cotts have to do Ozzie?
  4. The first two batters of this inning are extremely important. You don't want Ortiz or Ramirez coming up as the tying run.
  5. Widger's bat speed has completely vanished.
  6. I just don't know how anyone could bash Garland this season for not attacking hitters. One of the main reasons for his success this year is that he's had a huge decrease in his walks this season. In the games he's struggled this year, it's been because he was hit hard. That happens over the course of the season, especially in the AL.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Nope. I just asked a question. FWIW, I know you were joking. A lot of us get into the habit of saying "we".
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) We are? When did you join the front office? Isn't that a personal attack?
  9. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) they're not exactly trying on stretchign him out this season, i don't know about that. I've heard rumors that over the offseason, they want to make him a starter again. I disagree with the move, but since I don't make those decisions, I can only root for the best.
  10. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) i dunno i'm loving the count right now. if he can stay this way we've got a helluva rotation... i'm kinda partial to cotts stayin in relief tho I know this is for another thread, but I think there's an extremely high likelihood we trade him this offseason for offensive help.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) You think that Cotts will go back to being a starter? I think we're definitely going to try it.
  12. GREAT JOB MCCARTHY! However, he better not pitch to another batter today.
  13. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) the future makes me quiver with excitement Buehrle Garland Garcia Bmac Count or in whatever order. doesnt really matter but damn. f***in best rotation How about this in two years: Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, McCarthy, and Cotts
  14. Another pitch that should have been a strike. McCarthy is really racking up the pitches now. He shouldn't go over 120.
  15. McCarthy has great movement and a great release on his change-up.
  16. Ugh, hopefully these blown opportunities don't come back to haunt us.
  17. Terrible AB by Everett. Did he not know that Foulke throws a change-up?
  18. Everett is just flying off of the ball. Foulke's a great guy to look to hit it to the opposite field.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) 101. As of now BMAC is. He has pitched 105 pitches. I bet he doesn't come back for the next inning. I bet you he does.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) We still gotta get both of those runs home or be forced to hear the "Shilling is back" soundbytes on SC tonight. We will? It's not like he shut us down.
  21. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Exactly. Juan had a reason to be out there, unlike Pods. My personal belief with a runner on 1st and 2nd is that if you're on 2nd, the one thing you can't do is get picked off like that. If the bunt is bad, you're likely going to be out no matter what at 3rd base because of the force out. It's not exactly a play where you have to get a great secondary lead because you need to be able to avoid the tag at 3rd base. It's a different situation if there was no outs, and the runner is on 2nd base w/no one else on.
  22. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) Thats not true. Most likely, that honor belongs to Carlos Lee. Uribe's steal percentage with the Sox is unbelievably bad.
  23. We need to get PK up this inning.
