  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) That a boy aj, even if belliard fields that cleanly with aj's speed they aren't turning that. With AJ's speed!!!
  2. Wohoo!!! We got lucky there, even though I don't think they could have turned two. I can't believe PK got to 3rd there!!
  3. Bases loaded for AJP here. Against the sinker, this is a recipe for a DP. Hopefully, AJP can get a sac fly at least. BTW, Fox was wrong there. Dye has a grand slam also.
  4. Wow, that looked like a pretty good play by Hernandez there. Sox almost got a huge break there. PK has got to get at least one run in here.
  5. Everett has got to avoid the sinker here, and not ground into a DP!!!
  6. Got a feeling we're going to be seeing a double-steal here.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Could be but I think what we've seen with Joe is what we're going to get around .240-250ish with 20-25 homers and suburb defense, which is absolutely fine with me. Back injuries aren't very promising for a lot of offensive production. Hopefully, Crede will get used to the soreness, and be able to adjust and contribute.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) I'm always the optimist, but I don't f*** with the baseball gods. Well said I never like to make any comments about a game being over until the 27th out has been made, or the Sox are up 10 with less than 3 innings remaining. It's not cause I'm a pessimist, just because I don't like to jinx things.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) What other reaction was there? Well, considering how people always get pissed at me for being Mr. Pessimist, I was glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought it was quite the "jinxable" statement.
  10. QUOTE(GoArow33 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Don't worry. I'm not a jinx or anything. I've been to six games this year and they were all W's. I hope that means I'm not a jinx =). Unless you're at the game today, then those numbers mean nothing to me
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Nice to see you had the same initial reaction that I did.
  12. QUOTE(GoArow33 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Buehrle won't lose with a three run lead. Why do I have this feeling that this one's already in the books. I feel cocky. But I like it. Oh boy I think we heard the same thing against the A's about two weeks ago. It would be great if you were right though.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Juan's starting to hit more balls hard just getting unlucky a bit the last few games, I guess that's what happens when you're struggling overall. Yeah, I've noticed that. I thought he had a double off the bat before, but Sizemore was shaded that way. When Uribe gets on fire at the plate, this is going to be a special offense.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) I could have swore AJ has had a ton of rest, with how well Widger has been playing. He's averaged like 135 games a year over the last 3 years and that's basically exactly the pace he's on this year. Exactly, and as you know, the more playing time for a catcher, the more wear and tear on the catcher's body. I'm not saying we need to bench AJP three times a week, but an extra day off once every other week wouldn't hurt.
  15. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) Everyone keeps saying the sox is some of the worse in offense in the league but they really don't put the ALC in consideration since our division has a few teams on top of the pitching catagories. Not to say that is the reason were not that great at hitting since some of it also has to do with the players themselves. From what I see though, there are a few players right now that are close to being locked in, if a few more players can get in a groove we can be even better. We need Dye to get back to where he was before the ASB. He's coming off the ball a little too quick now, and needs to go back to looking to drive the ball up the middle, etc. PK and Rowand look to have nice, short swings.
  16. BTW, I know this isn't related to the game, but I think the perfect, utility player to add to the Sox would be Mike Lamb. He's a very solid hitter, and can play 1b/3b, while providing a solid lefty off the bench.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) When people criticize Ozzie for making this particular move, or starting Player B instead of Player A ... This is what they aren't seeing. It's not always about "today". He has the big picture in mind. Not sure how others feel, but I don't have a problem with putting benchers in the starting lineup. I just know I get frustrated when it seems we put all the benchers into the starting lineup for the same game (the "Sunday" lineup).
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) I swear AJ has had the worst luck at the plate of anyone on this team this year. He's hit more hard line drives right at people or shots that have barely been caught than anyone. Someone actually had a stat that I actually think showed that. Without a doubt, no one has more bad luck on the Sox than PK at the plate. With even well below average speed, he'd probably have 10 more hits on the season. I can't remember the last time that AJP hit a ball with authority deep into the outfield. Probably the Cubs series.
  19. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I think everyone here has AJ on their minds (both Burnett and Pier .) He has K'ed a lot more than usual and his avg is way below his career avg. We need to rest AJP in this 2nd half more than we did in the first half. I don't know if he's been tired, but his bat speed is really dragging right now.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) A lot of that has been us making our own luck. People don't get hurt much...why? Because Ozzie sits people with any minor injury and makes sure people get healthy. We score runs that we shouldn't why? Because we've been moving people over with guys like Tad or stolen bases. We've overcome 1 injury in our starting pitching, 1 in our bullpen, and another struggling starter for a month. We've overcome shifting closers because one was falling apart. The one thing I will still grant you is amazingly lucky is that the foot of the guy on the mound is healthy after spring training. Don't forget missing Frank Thomas for a good portion of the first half. The Sox have been more than cautious with minor injuries this season to Pods, Uribe, and Crede (a little more serious injury).
  21. I'm loving that outside corner that Buehrle is getting right now.
  22. Big inning here for Buehrle to keep the Indians scoreless, as the Sox have ALL the momentum right now.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) Aj's just a bit off, he's taking good swings and is just underneath the ball. I noticed that also. He's getting some pitches right down the plate, and just fouling them straight back. He seems to be dropping his whole body a little too much when he swings. A lot of movement for a hitter who's usually pretty quiet at the plate.
  24. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) We have to of scored more runs with two outs than anyone in baseball this year. At least six of those runs seven runs yesterday were scored with two outs. Today all three have so far. Are you sure that stat is accurate? For some reason, I thought that our average with RISP, and 2 outs, is very poor.
