  1. Who will end up with a higher batting average? PK or Iguchi?
  2. Can we just package our two pitchers so far tonight, with a prospect, and get Schmidt?
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) The Cubans are a problem. Why couldn't they be one pitcher name Jolando Contrandez. A guy with balls that knows how to pitch with talent. The talent coming from Contreras and the balls/knowledge coming from Duque. Unfortunately, we have two half pitchers. And we still pitch them back-to-back, which takes a toll on our bullpen. I'm not criticizing Ozzie here (he's had a great stretch lately), but he really should have split them up.
  4. That's damn impressive there.
  5. At least it's a lot more exciting to watch Jenks pitch instead of Adkins or Mike Jackson in mop-up duty.
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) You're kidding right? Did you not read any of the posts with CyGarland. He has gotten 3 or more runs of support only THREE f***ING TIMES in 18 starts this year. I've always thought he's not a winning player. From the time I saw him in NYY, to the last year or so with the Sox, he's never done anything to make me thing he's the type of player who will contribute to a team winning more than the average player. He's just too inconsistent.
  7. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) I hope KW is not serious about not chasing anybody big for this team. Its hard to tell at times what we need more, a reliever or a starter. A lefty hitter?
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) If Crede makes the play, the inning is over. It was right to him. I agree he should have made the play, but that doesn't mean Infante was entitled to a homer. Come on, if Garland did the same thing last year, everyone would have been bashing him. Everyone knows Contreras s***s the bed if anything bad happens, and it definitely took place again tonight.
  9. I hope Ozzie is trying to teach Contreras a lesson there. If not, that's bad, bad managing. I'll actually give benefit of the doubt to Ozzie there.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Well. 3 now. He's given up 3 and Crede's given up 3. Crede didn't hang a 2 strike pitch to the number 8 hitter. Reminds me of Spurling last night.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) He doesn't pitch well at the Cell. If he's pitching away he's a good bet to put up a good performance as evidenced by his last start in Cleveland. Or maybe that Indians team was just in an awful hitting slump. They're getting blanked against the Royals tonight.
  12. What a f***ing loser. On a team with such an amazing record this year, our W-L record when Contreras pitches is shockingly bad. Ozzie is leaving him in to die now.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) He's only given up 2 runs in close to 6 innings. That's not bad. 5 runs thanks to shady scorekeeping.
  14. Plain and simple, Contreras is not a winning ball player. He's fallen apart twice in this game with 2 outs. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't want him close to the mound if we make the playoffs (unless we face the A's, where I'll take my chances with Porzio and Paniagua).
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) Maggs is hitting us, that's for sure. Most players are going to get hits on fastballs right down the plate with no movement at all.
  16. With Ordonez swinging well, and R. White swinging poorly so far, no way Maggs should have got a fastball right down the plate.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Good job of getting the run in. We need Pods to work Bonderman and get his pitch count up. Ha, guess not.
  18. Good job of getting the run in. We need Pods to work Bonderman and get his pitch count up.
  19. Lefties get so much better of a look against Bonderman.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Well, I see a guy who's not really comfortable at the plate right now, and that certainly was not his homerun swing. Maybe I'm seeing crazy things, but that swing is the one where he basically throws the bat at the ball hoping that he can line it somewhere, but definitely not his homerun swing. His backside just totally dropped out... You're right, he's definitely not comfortable at the plate. Hopefully he snaps out of it, we have some tough games coming up.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) Was he trying to homer his first AB, too? I can't speak for Frank, all I know is I saw a batter who went out of his way to pull an offspeed pitch that was well outside. The biggest irony is that it was the perfect time for him to just hit a fly ball. I know Frank has contributed some big homers this year, but if he was a video game player, his power would be top notch, but hit hitting ability would be below average.
  22. The closer the game for Contreras, the more he tries to be perfect and not let the hitter beat him. Thus, it equates to more walks, and more hanging forkballs. Contreras is better when he just pitches, and throws whatever he wants.
  23. Can the Tigers bring in Spurling now?
  24. Our hitters sure get off-balanced on 2 strike offspeed pitches. I don't know why any pitcher would throw a Sox hitter a 2 strike fastball.
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) Great play by Uribe. Damn, if only Contreras pitched over that mistake earlier. He'd be looking great right now. I still can't believe they didn't give Crede an error on that play.
