  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Why do you say that? He looks the same to me. He has a gut that won't let his jersey stay tucked in. I can't tell if that was sarcasm or not. They showed Uribe on the bench last night, and he looked enormous. Uribe also seems a step slower on the bases this year compared to last year (as does Rowand).
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Well it didn't effect him last year. Uribe is definitely heavier this season than last year.
  3. Uribe being overweight this season can't help his back at all.
  4. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:32 AM) I feel Dye is an above average right fielder, and feel he has done a good job for us out there. Other than the missed catch in Oakland, and not hitting the cutoff man early in the season... I like what I have seen. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I must say, I respectfully disagree with your analysis of Dye in the outfield. He has no range, has struggled throwing the ball this season, and doesn't seem to have good instincts in the outfield. Thankfully, Rowand is a good outfielder, but he's surrounded by some very overrated defensive players in LF and RF.
  5. Dye's defense has been nothing but disappointing all season. I'm pretty confident in saying that Ordonez would have made Teahan's blooper look like a pretty routine, difficult catch with his little knee-first slide he used to do. If you watch the replay, that ball landed underneath Dye, not in front of him. Thankfully, Dye has been sensational at the plate lately. He sure has the ability to make the Cell look small when he bats.
  6. I thought Prior wasn't going to start until the end of June?
  7. Nice to see Hermanson getting ahead of the hitters again, and keeping the ball down. Good win, all things considered.
  8. Good job by Shingo getting ahead in the count. Will Ozzie go with Hermanson or Marte for the 9th?
  9. Great job by Cotts to overcome the leadoff walk. He's definitely the type of pitcher you'd rather let start the inning instead of come in with people on base.
  10. Great swing by Crede. For the life of me, I don't know why a team would ever throw him an inside fastball with 2 strikes. Almost all of Crede's power this year has been on inside pitches.
  11. Wow, I'll take it!! That was very similar to AJP's hit against the Blue Jays that won us the first game of that series.
  12. Still wish that Cotts would have been brought in to face Stairs. My reason is this: McCarthy obviously had no command of anything but his fastball. Stairs is a very dangerous fastball hitter, especially to the opposite field. I was very disappointed that AJP decided to call for an outside fastball. McCarthy's best chance at getting Stairs out was to jam him with an inside fastball with some movement. As for Viz, if he's going to throw fastballs to righties, he needs to get it inside. With Viz throwing so many sliders, you can tell that hitters are sitting on the outside pitch. An outside fastball just ends up being meat.
  13. I don't give a s*** that Berroa is a righty, take Viz's ass out of the f***ing game. If a reliever gives up 2 straight homers, no chance he should still be in the game.
  14. This is absolutely pathetic. The Royals are making our pitchers look like total garbage.
  15. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) kip wells Knowing some people in Sox organization, Wells might be the last person in the majors we would trade for.
  16. QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) put him in the pen to build his confidence like we did with buehrle. I'd rather not have McCarthy in the bullpen. Not necessarily confident in a pitcher who has struggled with his control and the long ball in the majors. He needs two years in the minors to refine and polish his stuff and command.
  17. I couldn't mean that anymore of a compliment if I tried, but that was the worst swing I've seen from Ozuna all year. I'm also the last person to state I'd rather have him at SS over Uribe, but right now, Ozuna is a bigger offensive weapon than Uribe is.
  18. Here's the thing with McCarthy: If he is unable to strikeout MLB hitters at a solid rate (like he's done in the minors), he's going to have to either develop another pitch or change from a 4-seam to a 2-seam fastball. The scary thing about tonight's performance was that it wasn't even the long ball that hurt him. I'm not giving up on McCarthy, but I wouldn't shed a tear if we used him in a trade. Problem is, Duque's health problems probably won't allow for us to trade him.
  19. Be nice to see a strikeout once this game for our pitchers.
  20. So let me get this straight: Against the Cubs, Ozzie is extremely quick with the McCarthy hook. Yet tonight, he was way, way too patient.
  21. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) Pods is a average left fielder at best! That would have been an incredible catch. You know McCarthy blows when people are whining the ump should have called the 3rd strike on Stairs (pitch wasn't close) or Pods should have made a great catch. Cotts should have been in to face Stairs, but we tried to get him the win.
  22. KW: We need a 5th starter! McCarthy's inability to strike hitters out tonight just killed him.
  23. What the f*** was that 3-2 pitch there? I'd pull McCarthy for Cotts here, but I understand trying to get him the win.
  24. With Garland, Buehrle, and then an off day on Thursday, I don't mind taxing our bullpen if needed tonight.
  25. Big inning coming up for McCarthy here. I'm sure Ozzie will give him every chance to qualify for the win. Also, I think Willie "looks" like he should be faster than Ozuna because he's smaller and bunts so often. However, judging by my own eyes, Ozuna seems to run the bases quicker.
