  1. This game showed the little things during a game that we were doing earlier, but we're not now. We didn't hit into many DP earlier in the season, but now we seem to be hitting into them whenever there's RISP now. If Everett just hits a routine flyball, we scored a run during the middle innings. No shock with Ozzie leaving El Duque in about 3 batters too long, which results in Barajas RBI single.
  2. Everett has been absolutely brutal with RISP lately, especially with less than 2 outs.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) How long are we going to say that? Until we are 27-20? No kidding. We're 4.5 games in front of the Twins, who look to have just as strong of a team as they did last year with their great bullpen and the emergence of Morneau and Mauer. Is our current team good enough to outlast the Twins.....NO. We need to either get better performances from our hitters, or we need to make some changes. No way our pitching can keep up the pace they had for the first 30 games.
  4. I don't care what our record says, we're not a good team right now. Our starting pitching has been less than stellar over last 10 games, and our bullpen has been brutal (besides Cliff and Herm). We have way, way, way too many easy outs in our lineup right now. PK and Everett continue to have terrible ABs with RISP.
  5. Jabroni was definitely saying that Dye should have batted instead of Ozuna.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) That made no sense. I was calling for Dead in the chat room. At least Dead has a chance at hitting a homer versus a lefty. Stupid move by Ozzie. This is one of those games where you need your manager to make the smart decisions (starting pitcher struggling, offense looking like s***). Ozzie is having a bad managerial game tonight (3 in a row shockingly).
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) What exactly is a winner? Is Scott Podesdnik a winner? Willie and Timo have selfish attitudes. You can see that in the way they play. I bet if Carlos Lee would have weakly flown out on a 2-0 pitch with that type of uppercut swing, Ozzie would have complained about it after the game.
  8. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Why the fock is Ozzie again tinkering with his two boyfriends Timo and Harris in the line up? I would be the happiest person in Chicago if both of those guys never played another game for the Sox. Neither of them are winners, no matter what Hawk and DJ try to tell Sox fans.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) So Crede-lovers, is this still his year? His AVG is now .266 after another Cruddypopsitup. The disturbing this is that it's not like he's hitting a lot of hard balls right at people, but having bad luck. Rather, he's a pop up machine.
  10. Timo is such a worthless piece of s***.
  11. Timo can't leave the Sox soon enough for me. He's my most hated Sox player ever!
  12. Terrible job by Hernandez keeping the momentum for our team.
  13. Ozzie should get someone up in the pen, as El Duque has nothing tonight.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) By the way, off topic ... did anyone hear any more info on Zambrano's forearm injury? They were supposed to comment on it today. No, I haven't heard anything new about Zambrano. With the type of discomfort they said he was having.....I don't think he'll pitch this wknd. That's just my personal opinion though.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Aaron has 1 assist, Pods has 2 Yeah, but you also get assists if the throw goes home, and they then throw out another runner on the bases. Sosa would always get like 10 assists a year because of that ruling.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Podsednik threw a guy out at the plate I'm pretty sure. You sure, I really don't recall that?
  17. Out of curiosity, the Sox outfielders don't have any assists this year, do they? I can't recall a single player being thrown out by a Sox outfielder.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) There was no catching that ball That would have been a real tough play, but he sure didn't seem to get a good jump on the ball. I'm not making the assumption he's a bad outfielder just because of that play though. He hasn't impressed me in the field at all this season. Hell, his best defensive play was the throw home against the A's where the runner was called safe.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Vizcaino sucks too. I'm so sick of seeing his f'n slider. He seems to be suffering from the same testicle loss as Garcia.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) So what exactly is Guillen doing wrong again? JimH.....there's nothing that Ozzie could have done after the 3rd inning or so. I apologize if I didn't make my point clear. I don't blame Ozzie for this game at all. Rather, I just would have liked to see us try to create some offense in the first few innings when we had leadoffs guys on base. In the scheme of things, it doesn't look like one manufactured run would have mattered in the end.
  21. The one thing I've learned from this wknd is that Cotts can't be counted on for damage control situations. His wildness just seems to flame the fire.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Oh stop it. First of all, Podsednik is trying to bunt for a hit. The last thing they're doing is playing stationary baseball, Iguchi is constantly trying to hit it up the middle or the opposite way. That's exactly the point though. We've been doing a great job with the top of our order not playing stationary baseball. We all know Ozzie can't do anything about the slow, crappy hitters in the middle of our order right now. However, we've been very successful at having guys like Pods bunt in similar situations, especially when we're facing a confident pitcher like Bedard. It seems like Pods has got on nearly every time he's bunted this season. I'm not complaining about Iguchi's approach......it's just that he's very prone to hitting into double plays with that particular approach. It's great for when Pods can steal 2nd base, etc.
  23. Haha....I'd be a lot more excited if Cotts didn't put this game out of reach. Nice to see though.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) What, pray tell, is he supposed to do? No reason for Pods not to be bunting in the 3rd inning after the leadoff walk to Crede. Pods is our best bunter, and is a good bet to beat out even an average bunt. Also, we don't utilize Iguchi in terms of hit-and-run. Iguchi hits a ton of grounders, and will continue to hit into a lot of double plays if we try and play stationary baseball. The combination of Pods on the bases and Iguchi at the plate should be perfect for hit-and-runs, even if Pods can't get a good jump against a lefty.
