  1. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Yeah, maybe some of the critics were right about us finishing 3rd or 4th. While I don't think that's going to happen, it makes you wonder how this team has had the best record in baseball for over a month. We were winning games earlier on we had absolutely no reason to win. How many games were we on here saying how lucky we got, etc. Well, our hitting is worse now than it was back then, and our pitching has not been getting that tough 3rd out in the big inning. Our smallball approach is simply awful. We have 2 players capable of playing that way, and their ability is minimized by terrible hitters batting right after them.
  2. Are we allowed to greet this team at the airport and boo Ozzie now? Just kidding....I think.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Unlike earlier this year, we are not putting long winning streak together anymore. We are hovering. Playing sub 500 ball. Guess what if you play sub 500 ball the rest of the division will catch up. The Twins are a better team than we are. It will take the Sox playing great ball for the last 100 games of the season or so in order for us to beat them for the division. I don't think this team is good enough to play great ball over the course of the season. Too many easy outs.
  4. Ozzie......he's allowed 7 runs, including 6 this inning. Take his f***ing ass out.
  5. Way to leave him in Ozzie, you dumb motherf***er. Garland should have been pulled right after Mench's homer. Dye's defense back to reality with a terrible play there in the outfield. He should have just played it off the bounce.
  6. Quite frankly, this Sox team sucks right now.
  7. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Well that really sucks. I knew we should've taken him out while we still could have. Oh well. Still 3.5 games up with Frank's bat coming to help us along with a trade Im sure. I'm the biggest hindsight guy there is, but no way do you take Garland out for Mench before. He had made some good pitches on Mench in this game. I do find it pathetic that Ozzie didn't even have anyone warming up.
  8. This was Garland's worst inning of the season. Everything has been up. Of course, if Uribe would have shown any urgency on that double play ball, we would have been out of the inning.
  9. One day, we're going to learn that Mench is a dead fastball hitter.
  10. I'd just like to say f*** you to Mike Huff, who's a terrible announcer and shouldn't be saying a ball if foul off the bat, etc. until he knows for sure.
  11. Terrible pitch there to Mench. You need to throw someone like him an offspeed pitch.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) This Texas team is just stacked. Indeed it is. That's why 3 runs won't be enough to win a game against them in Texas.
  13. That's what happens when you don't try to pull everything on the outside corner.
  14. Wow, great catch by Dye. That ball looked like it was knuckling on him also.
  15. Hey Juan, you might want to show a little sense of urgency on that play.
  16. Garland making some terrible pitches this inning.
  17. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I dont think we are going to score anymore runs.... 3 runs won't win this game.
  18. Time for Pods first homer of the year.
  19. Crede really has some moments in a game where it looks like he's never played before. His reaction on the foul ball was comical before.
  20. Well done Garland and Crede.
  21. Big batter for Garland here.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) They have had two times this series where they have gotten something going. On Friday night late in the game, and earlier today. Its when they go with the pitches. If its in, Pull it. If its outside dont. Yet when something that shows you sucess, please dont repeat it. Just go back to PULL BASEBALL SON. It all relates to being an easy out. That same pitch that Dye took for a called 3rd was a very tough pitch. However, that's the same type of pitch you see guys like Stewart or L. Ford flip out to right field for hits (both guys the epitome of tough outs). However, basically Iguchi is the only one on our team who would protect the plate in a similar situation and just go with the pitch.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Wow, nice sequence by Garland. Gets down 3-0 on Mench. Gets a strike and then gets him to groundout. Agreed
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Actually he's been making solid contact a lot lately just not getting a whole bunch of hits. Ah, we're back to disagreeing! That's more like it
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) The current strike zone in the mlb sucks ass. True, but once you know what the ump's zone is, you need to protect. Garland got the same call, if not more outside, on Young earlier in the game.
