GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
Until McCarthy can keep AAA hitters in the park......he shouldn't be in the majors.

Our offense needs help, and fast. And when I say help, I don't necessarily mean just adding Frank.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) I am in an uncontrollable state of shock after seeing our offense go down 1-2-3. Who woulda thought? Wow... How can someone swing and miss so many fastballs like Everett is doing?

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) If her family owns a Dairy Queen and she's 250 bills I can guarantee that all those Blizzard are going down her throat, not yours. The more I thought about it, the more I thought of exactly what you said. And take it from someone who's in his mid-20s. She's not going to get any skinnier as she gets older!

That's a tough decision. 250 lbs in a girl = no chance. However, if her family owns a Dairy Queen = free blizzards if you date her, then it's something you might have to consider.

Baseball America's Draft Preview
Carrillo is a Sox fan. I have a feeling he'll be our pick, as he would likely be a pretty easy sign. Most scouts feel like he has a very limited ceiling though.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) the lineup today is messed up.... although Chris Young is a big fastball guy and we seemed to hit them well.... Bonderman, Harden, and Cabrera come to mind...when we faced Prior and Colon their fastballs werent as fast as usual. Chris Young throws in the low 90s. He's not an overpowering pitcher, despite his size.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) So we win 1-0 tonight, huh?!?!? All I know is this.....if Ozzie is going to play all of our weaker hitters (by that, I mean non-power threats), he's going to have to try and create offense. No more playing for the 3 run homer, etc. Ozuna obviously tends to hit the ball on the ground a lot. Thus, if Willie gets on, it would be a great idea to hit-and-run, etc.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
Our 8-9 hitters tonight have 4 career homers in 923 AB. Hidalgo has more homers than that in the last week.

Mac Jurko and Harry had a good idea today
Exactly!

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
No Iguchi or Crede in the lineup tonight. Uribe is in the 2nd spot, and Everett in the 3rd. Now, our only chance of scoring in games (Pods then Iguchi) isn't even in play tonight.

Mac Jurko and Harry had a good idea today
No offense, but this is a stupid idea. What is this, college basketball? Right now, we just have to act like we've been there before. We still have 3 very tough games at Texas.

Prior just went down on a line drive
Dusty said it did hit him directly on the elbow.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) He arrived at Northwestern via ambulance with his wife and trainer. That's funny, because Comcast just said again that he drove himself to the hospital...and used it as good news to show he was ok enough to do that. I trust your report a lot more though.

Prior just went down on a line drive
Chacon isn't pitching for the Rockies tomorrow. He's scratched with a bad ankle, and everyone's favorite B. Kim will be going tomorrow.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Game plan against the Rox... Show up. You have a 75% chance of beating them. Good point, even though I hate the idea of our team having to outslug another team on the road.
-
Prior just went down on a line drive
Game plan against Rockies.....test their 3rd baseman. Also, we should be able to run at will against them. They've only thrown out one base runner all year.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Hmm.. my boss said they watched him get into an ambulance at the players lot entrance.. I highly doubt Prior actually drove himself! I know he's the Messiah and all, but it would seem painful to have to keep your right elbow elevated while you drive.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) The Comcast update just said that Prior left the game and drove himself to Northwestern Hospital for precautionary X-Rays. Interesting terminology they used. Precautionary X-rays are usually done for very minor injuries, etc.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Who knows. It could be just a deep bone contusion or something like that. Judging by how much it swelled up, they'd have a very tough time diagnosing anything but a fracture right now.
-
Prior just went down on a line drive
Another thing that won't make me shed a tear about a possible season-ending injury for Prior is that we still have another series against the Cubs. I know a lot of people would rather face their best.....but I would be just as happy if we beat an A ball pitcher (might be tougher for us it seems).

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Part of the reason that there are 7 pages is that we all get this game, the radio stations that talk about it, and there is nothing else on tv on a Friday afternoon! And don't forget, this is the Messiah we're talking about. If it was Dempster or Rusch, we would not be talking about it so much.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Pat Hughes on WGN 720 is saying that they are going to wait until after the game to make the announcement on Prior. That doesn't sound too promising then. If he was ok, they would announce it right away.

Prior just went down on a line drive
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Which is why we should call up Brian Anderson for June 6,7, and 8. I can't even imagine Everett trying to play in the outfield at that spacious field.

Prior just went down on a line drive
I don't recall the Cubs fans exactly feeling sorry for us when the rumor about Buehrle's foot injury started in spring training.
