  1. Why the f*** do we have Cotts warming up, but we won't bring him in to face the lefty Stairs? Politte has to be gased after the last few games.
  2. Widger blew that inning there. I still think that this would have been a big game for the Sox confidence level that they can close out a 3 game sweep. I guess Ozzie wanted to make it as difficult as possible.
  3. I hate bailing out a pitcher after he walks leadoff hitter on 4 pitches by giving up 2 strikes trying to bunt.
  4. Have a feeling Widger will be bunting here. Hopefully he's able to do it.
  5. That ball was a lot closer to the fence than I think Timo realized. Definitely thought that ball was gone though, especially with Sweeney's reaction after he hit it. Good job by Cliff overcoming the leadoff error.
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) No. Garland is pitching tomorrow and we won;t be throwing out our scrubs so we'll be fine. Oakland is just such a house of horrors though. Seems like no matter who we're pitching, we're down 3-0 after 2 innings.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Ack -- isn't this Cliff's third day pitching in a row? I don't blame Ozzie, he really can't..... holy s***, what a terrible game defensively for our guys.... anyways, he really can't go to anyone else. Cotts and Shingo, that's about it... Really need to cut Timo, and call up a pitcher (probably Adkins, even if he's struggling as a starter). Too many times this season we've already found ourselves with a lack of relievers available.
  8. Holy cow, our 4th error of the game. It will only get uglier as we go to Oakland tomorrow.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Way to work the count... That should go for the entire team today after the first inning. They had Bautista on the ropes in the first inning, but a terrible AB by Uribe bailed him out (not to mention he got to face Timo in that inning).
  10. Timo continues to show why he doesn't deserve to be on the roster.
  11. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) your right I don't mind spelling guys for a rest, but this lineup blows. Way too many bench players at one time. With no offense and a bullpen that is taxed its going to be very tough to win this game. No s***, it's like Ozzie went into this game thinking they can win it 1-0 or 2-1. Hernandez gives up a ton of runners, so that's not as likely if someone like Buehrle is on the mound. Honestly, how many other teams do you see play 4 reserves in the same game? I know A.J. is banged up, so that's fine. But no need to have everyone else out also. Everett's been in a funk lately, but he's still easily one of our top 3 hitters.
  12. 2 hard hit balls for the Sox the entire game. Konerko's liner and Uribe's DP ball.
  13. Great defense by our reserves that inning. I'm so happy we have 4 bench guys playing in the field today. Feels almost like a spring training game where only half of the team travels.
  14. God damn Willie. He got away with being lazy on a grounder a few innings ago, and did the same thing there.
  15. Like I said before the game, I can't stand our 3rd game of the series lineup. Unbelievable amount of below average players on the field at one time is never a good thing.
  16. Can we please release Timo? He's just a terrible player.
  17. Bautista has it in cruise control right now. We stopped being patient, and his stuff is too good to just swing at everything.
  18. Anyone else feel like we need to implement more hit and runs, etc? We're now on our 4th straight game of not hitting a homer. Yet, we get a leadoff single by Willie, and the only time he tries to steal is on a 3-2 pitch with one out.
  19. Timo is sooooooo slow. He's even slower with less range in the outfield this season than he was last season.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Prediction of the Day: Derrick Brooks will be one of the starting OLB's for the Bears on opening day. Has there been any rumors of this kind?
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Ramon Martinez was very very good back in his days with the Dodgers. I'd take him in his prime (healthy) over anyone on this current staff aside from Mark Buehrle. Classics had on Ramon's 18 strikeout game last year. He had amazing stuff and just terrific control. If he didn't have some serious injury problems, I think he could have had a HOF career like Pedro has had.
  22. McPherson is basically a Brooks clone. A great potential pick by the Saints there.
  23. Orton was a product of Purdue's offense. In games where the opposition took away the short pass, he was bad. I just think that in the 4th round, you should pick guys who can develop into big time players, and not be likely career back-ups. A guy like McPherson would have given us another dimension. I would have much rather seen Mike Williams, J.J. Arrington, and McPherson instead of Benson, Bradley, and Orton. The Currie pick has been our best value pick so far.
  24. Pod Harris Konerko (DH) Gload (1b) Rowand Timo Uribe Widger Crede I hate Ozzie's approach to the 3rd game of a series. There's no problem playing reserves, but you don't need to play them all in the same game. You don't see other teams doing this against us.
