  1. Tampa now up by 4 in the fourth. Florida now up by 2 in the fourth.
  2. Tampa is up 2-0 in the 2nd @ Boston and Florida tied 2-2 in the 3rd @ Washington.
  3. They were also using illegal methods of communications. The Pats were using Walkie Talkies to bypass the system that automatically shuts off the headsets. This is some seriously bush league s*** right here.

  5. Just get the man a competent bench coach, please. I can accept Ozzie being around for the next 5 years as long as he has an experienced baseball guy at his side helping him with his in-game managing.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) The machine is starting early. Getting his name out to the sox beat reporters, and the continuous fluffing of someone that KW obviously has a thing for. More high fives as we pass up on Alvarez to pick up the more signable Jordan Danks. The fluffing of Jordan Danks by members of the media. Now maybe Gonzales should of taken a look at what Pedro did in that tourney. Just another reason why I want a top 3 pick. With any pick between 1 and 3 the Sox will have to take the best player available but if they finished with say the 9th pick there's no doubt in my mind they'd take Jordan Danks, no doubt.
  7. What's the downside to having the #1 pick? At least with the top pick in the draft, as opposed to the #9 pick (which you seem to want) you can draft who you want. If the Sox feel there is one player who is head and shoulders better than all the rest then they can, no matter what, select him if they have the top pick. You don't have that luxury at #9. Winning these games does nothing for the future of the ballclub, having the top pick in the draft adds an insanely talented position player to an incredibly weak farm system, the #9 pick adds Jordan Danks. Just imagine having Justin Upton patrolling CF for the Sox this season, how f***ing sexy would that be? Just imagine the trade value a #1 draft pick has if he's able to put together 2 very good seasons to start off his pro career.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:41 AM) Sad we continued to disgrace ourselves on the field. Sad we are closer to being the worst team in the league. Sad that Cub fans are happy that they won and we lost both. Sad that so many Sox fans have much in common with Cub fans these days in wanting us to lose. Pittsburgh and Washington also won tonight so we're putting some distance between ourselves and the worst of the NL which is nice.
  9. Gage is going for the parenthesis world record tonight.
  10. Nice we kept pace with Florida and gamed a game on Tampa.
  11. This could be a fun final 10 outs.
  12. Darin Erstad has had more retarded mental mistakes in the field this season than I could ever have imagined. He's just terrible.
  13. So has Bukvich killed any chance of making next year's pen? I happen to think he has and am glad that he has decided to suck.
  14. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) Yeah, he's not too bad. I notice a lot of people on here talk about salary. Is he worth the money he'll command? No. So sign Hunter, who will be worth it. DeJesus will make less next season than Podsednik was paid this year, David is worth every penny. Hunter on the other hand could give Barry Zito a run for his money as the most overpaid non-perpetually DL'd player in the game.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) DeJesus is pretty good, but he's no Beltran. For one, he can't steal a base. He's a little better than a plodder, but by no means fast. I like him, but the verdict is still out on him as far as his "star" quality. He has 6 hrs and 54 ribbies in a lot of at bats. Nine steals. That's Iguchi like speed at best. He might step up on a better team, but as of now, he is not an all star. Who cares if he's not a star? You're not going to see anyone anywhere near the talent of Carlos Beltran brought in to play play CF next year but a guy like DeJesus would be a great fit. He has good speed, above average defense in CF, a wicked batters eye and the potential to put up an .810 OPS. He'd be a pretty perfect fit. Not that I really care about either stat all that much but you mention he has 54 RBIs, did you happen to notice his 95 runs? For a guy who's apparently not very fast he sure as hell scores a lot of runs on a terrible team. It's just a shame that the Sox probably can't afford to acquire him.
  16. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) What's his contract situation? I've always thought he was a bit underrated just because he's stuck in KC. 08: $2.5M 09: $3.6M 10: $4.7M 11: $6M TO or $500K BO
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I don't know how the Sox OBP problem would be solved with Eckstein, Richar, and Fields in the line-up. They need to get guys who can get on base, and who can catch and throw the ball. Eckstein is going to be paid a lot more than he's worth. If you're looking to add OBP and defense to the top of the order then David Dejesus and his career .360 OBP and 90 ISOd for the 2007 season would look awful good in a Sox uni in '08
  18. Jordan never played a "real" game for the White Sox so the white pin striped jersey you see is likely the Birmingham Barons' home uni. He played 127 games for them in 1994.
  19. Dave Roberts got no where near $10M a year. He got nearly half that. I want David DeJesus. He's going to be dealt this offseason and his value is way down after his slugging% took a huge hit this season. I want him.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) Oh come on now. I know people here aren't big Owens fans for the most part, but jeez, the guy has done pretty well since his recent call-up, continues to improve his hitting and has been a pleasant surprise on defense. It amazes me that people wanted BA to keep playing all year while never reaching .200, and some of those same people wrote off Owens before he even got here (despite that he has been far more productive than Anderson was his first year). Believe me, I'd rather have Rowand or Hunter or someone else high caliber out there in CF in 2008, and have Owens as the 4th OF, if that situation can work. But if we can't get that done, I think Owens will probably do OK in a full season out there. He would probably be better than we got out of the CF position offensively in 2005, 2006 or 2007. He's put up a .265/.327/.315/.642 since being recalled and that's including the little hot streak he's had over the past week and a half or so which upped his OPS by about 26 points (.260/.310/.306/.616 when September started.) He's had 8 XBH and has struck out 43 times in 238 ABs so expect him to K over 100 times and maybe have 20 XBH if he's the leadoff hitter next season. He has been bad, real bad and if he's the leadoff hitter for the 2008 White Sox then we'll probably have a top 8 pick in the 2009 draft as well.
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) How bout Torii Hunter and trade for a ss and acquire a veteran set up guy. That won't improve us? It depends. What did you give up in order to acquire the expensive SS and over priced reliever? Did you just weaken the rotation and minor league system? What changes were made to the roster in order to pay Torii Hunter's insane salary? How many high priced veterans were moved in order to add the even higher priced veterans you're acquiring?
  22. The lack of funds won't be the only thing keeping the Sox from making a splash in the free agent market, the biggest problem will probably be the complete and utter lack of talent available. Outside of CF and A-Rod there's NOTHING that can help this team in free agency. And 5 extra wins in September isn't going to help KW lure anyone to the South Side, if the previous year's win% really meant anything Alfonso Soriano, Ted Lilly, Barry Zito and Dave Roberts would have balked at the offers that were made to them by 2 of the worst teams in baseball in 2006. The White Sox's money will be just as green with 65 wins as it would be with 75.
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I really hope he doesn't start pressing and continues to pound them over to get to 500 this year. Thome doesn't strike me as the "pressing" type. If his 400th was any indication then #500 will come within the week. He hit 6 HR over a 7 game span during the 2004 season to go from 394 to 400, he actually hit #401 the very next day. Homering in 3 consecutive games starting with #496 is a very good sign, Jim tends to hit HRs in bunches.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) I had no idea about this movie and saw it after reading some of the reviews on rotten tomatoes. I was laughing at all the action movie cliches. Smokin' Aces was a horrible movie as that wasn't funny at all, and I had no idea if it was supposed to be a comedy, a thriller, a drama, or an action movie. Shoot 'Em Up was all about the cliches. I feel the exact same way, agree on all accounts. Smokin' Aces was an absolute joke of a f***ing movie it couldn't decide what it wanted to be, it just dragged for the full 108 minutes with not a single good performance from any of the "big name" actors that for whatever reason decided to participate in the project. I remember the night I went to see it, I actually came on here at like 4 AM just to b**** about it since so many people here were so excited to see it. At least Shoot 'Em made its intentions known from the very beginning and didn't attempt to be anything more than it is. On a related note Paul Giamatti should not have been in this movie. That was just poor casting IMO.
