  1. According to Buster Olney Girardi has turned down the Baltimore managerial position.
  2. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) I think you are right on about the firesale trigger being the series this weekend. And it should be, unless you want to wait two weeks until the ASB and I'm sorry, as much as I always hold off until that date each year, if they tank this series I hardly think two weeks is going to mark any turnaround. I mean, think about it: we just lost consecutive series to: the Phillies, the Pirates and FLORIDA. All NL teams!! One more NL team series loss and I think it's fair to say we're done. Speaking of which, when WAS our last winning streak? I know we haven't had one this year and I remember noting all second half last year that we had none. I do not think we've had a streak of wins since 1st half 2006. Anybody know? The Sox haven't had a winning streak of more than one game in over a month. May 20-22 the Sox won 3 straight games. May also brought a 2 game and 4 game winning streak and April was home to a 2 game and 4 game as well. The last win streak of 5 or more games was August 10-14 of last season anything longer than 5 and you have to go back to June 14-24 2006 when the Sox won 9 straight against terrible NL Central teams. That 9 game win streak last year was longer than any stretch of wins the Sox had all of 2005 though they did have 6 eight game winning streaks if you count the postseason.
  3. Austin St. John does not do gay porn, he's pretty much taken the same career path as Jason David Frank in moving away from the acting and concentrating on Martial Arts. I remember when the pictures first started going around, the guy who was supposedly St. John looked nothing at all like him.
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Jason>Tommy I've gotta agree with you on this one, no one could touch the Red Ranger. Things just got weird with Tommy when they made him the leader of the group and changed his color to white. The long feminine hair was always a big turnoff as well. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) Man get out of here, no one could hang with Tommy You would like Tommy.
  5. Kuo and Tomko today vs the Blue Jays: IP H R ER BB SO HR Kuo 1.2 6 8 8 2 1 1 Tomko 3.1 4 4 4 0 2 2 Yikes, Buehrle and the Count would look great in Dodger blue. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) Everyone's talking about trading Buerhle and Garland while Vasquez and Contreras are still on this staff. WTF... Perhaps you've never heard of a little thing called free agency, you see if Buehrle is not traded before July 31th he has the right to leave the Sox and go to any other team of his choice and since he likely won't be re-signed you might as well deal him away for some nice young talent. There's been infinitely more talk of trading Contreras than there has been of Garland so I don't know WTF you're talking about there and Vasquez probably doesn't have much trade value seeing as how he's only a decent 24 year old middle reliever currently pitching in AAA.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Which is why I said; I took it as meaning they only played the song because he hit number 600 and he's playing at home. My bad.
  7. They play that song after every homerun.
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) I have no problem with Erstad as long as he is only a bench player making less then 2 million-at the most. I'd much rather have Terrero fill that role while providing better speed, more pop, much more youth and doing it all for the minimum.
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) I can't believe some of you are so convinced that a fire sale will heal this team in the future. Unproven talent is just, unproven. While I agree it would be a waste not to deal some dead weight before the deadline, I just not convinced it's going to pan out. Wasn't Jeremy Reed our number one prospect for awhile? No one is convinced it'll end up alright, if Firesales were 100% guaranteed to turn around your ballclub then every team in baseball would have one every 4 years or so. At this point though, the old, mediocre deadweight needs to be sold off for unproven but highly talented young players. There is no other acceptable recourse.
  10. I somehow managed to leave closers off the list so that mistake has been corrected.
  11. I'd say Josh Fields is actually one of the faster players on this roster, he's probably the best stolen base threat this team has right now. Dude's got some wheels.
  12. The Sox are playing the least entertaining baseball of any team in the game right now. Atleast when the Cubs are terrible they're fun-bad. The Sox are just boring and depressing right now.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) He's not a velocity-reliant pitcher. He's a location-reliant one. It really doesn't matter if he's location reliant, if he's tossing his fastball up there at 85 MPH when he reaches back he's going to get hit around. Mark has said it himself, one of the main reasons why he was so terrible in the second half of last season was because of a lack of velocity. That big 77 MPH change on the outer half isn't nearly as effective when his fastball is only 8 or less MPH faster.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) #3 - Losing velocity is not an issue. It was in the second half of last season.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Until Sizemore dropped that ball, they had a stretch where they were at about .750 for 2 months. Between August 5th and September 24th (Sizemore's drop was on the 25th) the Indians went 34-11 which is a .755 win percentage.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) What clip did the Indian's play at in '05? Over their final 94 games they went 56 and 38 (.596) to finish with 93 wins which wasn't enough to make the playoffs. So the Sox need to go 66 and 28 (.702) in their final 94 games to reach 95 wins and a chance at a WC/Divsion title.
  17. All they have to do is play .700 baseball the rest of the way and we'll be watching White Sox October baseball! Seriously though, .700 baseball.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) I got home in the 9th, should Uribe caught the throw from Jon? Yes, he should have caught it but it was still a bad throw into the runner at 2nd.
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) yeah it is. Its totally based off today. theres no way you thoought that when he was cruising most of the year. ALtough you might be right. Not so much to trade him, but to be prepared for when he falls. Actually there's a growing contingent of people who have been in favor of dealing Jenks for at least a year now.
  20. The downfall of Jenks begins? Similar to how it began on July 9th of last season against Boston.
  21. I'm confused as to why so much Uribe hatred comes out after he hits a ball hard up the middle. Shouldn't this anger be displayed after he f***s up?
  22. Uribe laced the ball into center but whoever the hell that Eric Byrnes lookin' mother f***er is out there made a nice diving catch to end the inning.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) I put my real birthday in. I like to be recognized for that stuff, im silly that way I also put in my real birthday, hence the "oh, look at the infinite wisdom from the 20 year old" bulls*** I get every time I call someone out.
  24. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) Do my eyes deceive me or is Juan 3-3 today? Kenny should pick up his $5M option for next season immediately following today's game.
