  1. Son of a f***ing b****, I can't take this s*** anymore. Andy Gonzalez is not anything, he's nothing, he'll be a below average utility player for the Sox next season but that's pretty much his career plateau. Mackowiak will not be with the team next season, once again there's no f***ing reason to play him. Please Ozzie, don't be a asshole on this one just play the kid everyday for the rest of the season, even if he puts up a .600 OPS the rest of the way he's giving you more than you got from the position for the first 2 months of the season.
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) Every manager does that. Especially with struggling rookies. I let Josh play. I think Ozzie will, too, but I'm just saying he won't be the first. Not just Dusty Baker but Ron Gardenhire. I could honestly care less what the perception is with other managers. This particular situation should be handled one way and one way only, play Fields every damn day. This team is not going to win jack s*** this season so an easy out at 3B won't exactly kill the team's at winning the Division. Alex Cintron is dog s*** and will not be with the team next season, there's no reason for him to see another AB at 3B for the rest of the year. Joe Crede will possibly never play another game with the Sox again, the Sox need to figure out if they have something in Fields or if they're going to need to find a replacement through other means this offseason.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Terrero should be playing everyday right now. I am curious to see just how good this guy is as his sample size grows. We also need Fields in everyday to figure out what we have in him. I'd also like to see us call up Sweeney and play him everyday as well. Whether it be Sweeney in CF and Terrero in LF or Terrero in CF and Sweeney in LF (with Fields always at 3B), I want to see those 3 playing everyday. We need to get SOMETHING out of this season. I'll tell you one thing, as of right now Luis Terrero is my starting CF for 2008. I absolutely hated the guy during Spring Training and to start the year at Charlotte but he's really shown me something. He seems to be a pretty consistent power threat, I don't know about the rest of his offensive ability but it does seem that his power is real. He seems to play some great defense out in CF and he has an absolute cannon for an arm not to mention some decent speed. Power + Defense + Arm + Speed + League Minimum = starter for me. Of course now he'll go 0 for his next 27 or something just to prove me wrong.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) Sounds like the BA situation. I bet soon enough Ozzie will start to cart Cintron out there as a starter. Or he could just f***ing play the future of the franchise everyday at 3B. He's going to f*** around with Fields for the rest of the year and by the end of the season they still won't know what the f*** they have in Josh. This is exactly why I don't want Ozzie around when the rebuilding starts up, he has a set way of dealing with struggling rookies, play the s***ty vet who can't play worth a lick every other day until the rookie starts to get pissed off then claim he has attitude problems and send him back to AAA. I don't give a s*** if Fields can't hit a fastball right now or when he takes a s*** in the clubhouse it smells up the place with Joe Crede about to go under the knife I want Fields at 3B everyday, that's the only way they're going to know if they have something in Josh. Enough of this playing vets over rooks bulls*** Josh needs to play every day to prove he can hang at the highest level.
  5. So did Fields tweak something or does Ozzie just have no clue what he's doing?
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) Anyone else think that if the Sox win on Opening Day, this is a totally different season? I mean, the worst possible start to the season is giving up a lead off homerun. It kinda set the tone for a s***ty season. Absolutely not.
  7. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Is he gone? I think he's gone off searching for brighter pastures.
  8. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) instead of just b*tching and moaning like a typical hard headed chicagoan, yes they should post their ideas and make the thread constructive instead of clearly being destructive which is what it has become. but that's okay because there are plenty of sox message boards on the net where they are actually friendly. i'd like to take this time to let this board filled with hard headed people who offer nothing and criticize everything, that i am retiring. i am going to a board where the content of one's post matters, not their post count. look at your post counts. no wonder many of you have the mental capacity of a worm. WHY ARE YOU IGNORING ME?!?!?!?
  9. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) that doesn't matter. in this thread we were talking about the changes that will be our 2008 team. it's perfectly on topic to list my idea for our 2008 team. it's funny though, i was the only one who could actually put a roster together...go figure! now please criticize ! I posted my 2008 roster about 50 posts back but you just ignored it. Why do you show me no love?
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I find it weird that Thome hasn't PH'd once these last two games. He was on deck in the 9th last night but Terrero ended the game before he could get to the plate and there was no sense in using him in a blowout today.
  11. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) it doesn't matter how long one has been part of a message board. that's just something people say because... hey, they've wasted thousands of hours on this board so it must mean something! the bottomline is i've lurked on this board for a while and i've grown tired of the continual b*tching and moaning with nothing to show for it. atleast throw out some ideas, but NOOOOOOOO many posters would rather criticize, for what? for nothing. There's like 12 threads full of offseason ideas in the Trade Winds subforum.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) You think by August 1st he'll still be an active member here? He's not lasting the night.
  13. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) he can work a full count. besides, Uribe's #'s have done nothing but decline for years on end. again, can any of you hard headed fools post a constructive idea or just continue to criticize? Cintron has worked the count full 7 times this year compared to Uribe's 18 that's about the same considering the disparity in PAs.
  14. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) What kind of hitter do you think Cintron is? Somewhere between Jason Dellaero and Cesar Izturis.
  15. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) you're one of those loud mouthed, no idea, love to complain people as well. who do we put a SS, valido? i'm sure you don't have any worthwhile ideas, so don't bother posting more nonsense just to up your post count. I'd do away with you if you weren't so damn entertaining.
  16. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) fathom, why don't you post your roster ideas? that is of course, if you have any. Wouldn't August 1st be a good time to start looking toward offseason plans? Everything will change after the trade deadline.
  17. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) I think the team needs more aging ex-twins whose legs are about to fall off. Maybe sign Tony Batista to play SS. Rondell White would look f***ing awesome in LF and Sidney Ponson could be one hell of a starter if ever given a real opportunity to perform.
  18. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) you better believe Uribe would but cut loose as well. no first pitch hackers on this squad. atleast no Uribe. that's all i care about. that slacker has to go. he is a colorado rockies throw away player. you know he is subpar just by that alone. Yes because for what Cintron lacks at the plate and on the basepaths he makes up for in the field.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) I think it's amazing how KW said he'd be in charge of the draft, yet he never saw Poreda pitch live. We might break the Bulls regular season win record with that team. Wait, Hall and Cintron don't strike you as everyday players?
  20. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Signing Hunter at $13+ might look ok for a season or two, but he's going to be in his mid-30's halfway through a contract like that. Not a good idea. He's already slow, declining defensively and has trouble cracking a .335 OBP. Sounds like the kind of guy you want to throw a s*** load of money at.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) we must find the next young pitching phenom(s). Aaron Paledo (Coop's words, not mine) will be the next great lefty to dominate the American League. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) You forgot to mention that Thome is "unclutch" I heard he's an asshole off the field.
  22. I'd love to have Aaron Miles at 2B next year and if KW could pry him away from McDonalds I'd love to have Stubby Clapp take over the DH role from that base clogging asshole named Thome. If he's available I'd go after Russ Ortiz to fill a spot in the rotation as well as Mike Hampton (I heard he might start a few games next year, should come cheap, huge upside) and I think Jorome Robertson would look good behind Adam Russel in the backend of the rotation.
  23. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) thanks for your wonderful contribution to the board! i get a kick out of the hard heads in this thread that just b*tch and moan. well let's hear your ideas. oh, that's right. you guys don't have any. I'd just load up on high priced grinders but that's me. Erstad/Rowand/Byrnes in the OF with Counsell and Eckstein kicking ass and taking names on the left side of the infield.
  24. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) everytime i see Terrero in CF, a ball hits off his glove only to end up rolling along the ground. not to mention i've seen him take poor angles to the ball, only to dive, and let the ball go right by him. Erstad's defense in CF is underrated. he doesn't drop the easy ones like Terrero does. that's why we need to throw a boat load of money at Tori Hunter. no that's defense, northsidepolish17. So then you missed the 5-8 ridiculous gaffes that Erstad made in CF in his brief time out there this season?
  25. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) my outfield, waaaay better than KW's: LF Byrnes CF Hunter RF Terrero Bingo was his name-o. w00t, $20M of over payed garbage in CF and LF.
