QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) Anyone else think that if the Sox win on Opening Day, this is a totally different season? I mean, the worst possible start to the season is giving up a lead off homerun. It kinda set the tone for a s***ty season. Absolutely not.

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) instead of just b*tching and moaning like a typical hard headed chicagoan, yes they should post their ideas and make the thread constructive instead of clearly being destructive which is what it has become. but that's okay because there are plenty of sox message boards on the net where they are actually friendly. i'd like to take this time to let this board filled with hard headed people who offer nothing and criticize everything, that i am retiring. i am going to a board where the content of one's post matters, not their post count. look at your post counts. no wonder many of you have the mental capacity of a worm. WHY ARE YOU IGNORING ME?!?!?!? -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) that doesn't matter. in this thread we were talking about the changes that will be our 2008 team. it's perfectly on topic to list my idea for our 2008 team. it's funny though, i was the only one who could actually put a roster together...go figure! now please criticize ! I posted my 2008 roster about 50 posts back but you just ignored it. Why do you show me no love? -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I find it weird that Thome hasn't PH'd once these last two games. He was on deck in the 9th last night but Terrero ended the game before he could get to the plate and there was no sense in using him in a blowout today.

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) it doesn't matter how long one has been part of a message board. that's just something people say because... hey, they've wasted thousands of hours on this board so it must mean something! the bottomline is i've lurked on this board for a while and i've grown tired of the continual b*tching and moaning with nothing to show for it. atleast throw out some ideas, but NOOOOOOOO many posters would rather criticize, for what? for nothing. There's like 12 threads full of offseason ideas in the Trade Winds subforum. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) he can work a full count. besides, Uribe's #'s have done nothing but decline for years on end. again, can any of you hard headed fools post a constructive idea or just continue to criticize? Cintron has worked the count full 7 times this year compared to Uribe's 18 that's about the same considering the disparity in PAs. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) you're one of those loud mouthed, no idea, love to complain people as well. who do we put a SS, valido? i'm sure you don't have any worthwhile ideas, so don't bother posting more nonsense just to up your post count. I'd do away with you if you weren't so damn entertaining. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) fathom, why don't you post your roster ideas? that is of course, if you have any. Wouldn't August 1st be a good time to start looking toward offseason plans? Everything will change after the trade deadline. -

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) I think the team needs more aging ex-twins whose legs are about to fall off. Maybe sign Tony Batista to play SS. Rondell White would look f***ing awesome in LF and Sidney Ponson could be one hell of a starter if ever given a real opportunity to perform. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) you better believe Uribe would but cut loose as well. no first pitch hackers on this squad. atleast no Uribe. that's all i care about. that slacker has to go. he is a colorado rockies throw away player. you know he is subpar just by that alone. Yes because for what Cintron lacks at the plate and on the basepaths he makes up for in the field. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) I think it's amazing how KW said he'd be in charge of the draft, yet he never saw Poreda pitch live. We might break the Bulls regular season win record with that team. Wait, Hall and Cintron don't strike you as everyday players? -

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Signing Hunter at $13+ might look ok for a season or two, but he's going to be in his mid-30's halfway through a contract like that. Not a good idea. He's already slow, declining defensively and has trouble cracking a .335 OBP. Sounds like the kind of guy you want to throw a s*** load of money at. -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) we must find the next young pitching phenom(s). Aaron Paledo (Coop's words, not mine) will be the next great lefty to dominate the American League. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) You forgot to mention that Thome is "unclutch" I heard he's an asshole off the field. -

I'd love to have Aaron Miles at 2B next year and if KW could pry him away from McDonalds I'd love to have Stubby Clapp take over the DH role from that base clogging asshole named Thome. If he's available I'd go after Russ Ortiz to fill a spot in the rotation as well as Mike Hampton (I heard he might start a few games next year, should come cheap, huge upside) and I think Jorome Robertson would look good behind Adam Russel in the backend of the rotation. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) thanks for your wonderful contribution to the board! i get a kick out of the hard heads in this thread that just b*tch and moan. well let's hear your ideas. oh, that's right. you guys don't have any. I'd just load up on high priced grinders but that's me. Erstad/Rowand/Byrnes in the OF with Counsell and Eckstein kicking ass and taking names on the left side of the infield. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) everytime i see Terrero in CF, a ball hits off his glove only to end up rolling along the ground. not to mention i've seen him take poor angles to the ball, only to dive, and let the ball go right by him. Erstad's defense in CF is underrated. he doesn't drop the easy ones like Terrero does. that's why we need to throw a boat load of money at Tori Hunter. no that's defense, northsidepolish17. So then you missed the 5-8 ridiculous gaffes that Erstad made in CF in his brief time out there this season? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) Holy cow, he smoked that. That a boy Luis....I'm a believer. I'm telling you the guy can play, I despised him coming into this season but he's shown me a lot. I would have no problem with him being plugged into the opening day lineup in CF next year. Great D, great arm, good speed, good power all from a 27 year old making the league minimum. A guy like that could save the 2007 White Sox. -

It's amazing, the Sox have a total of 10 guaranteed contracts for next season totaling ~$63.5M. I don't know what the hell is going to happen this offseason but the 2008 opening day roster is going to look a whole hell of a lot different than '07. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) We need offensive players right now. We have more holes on the offensive side forecasted over the next year than we do pitching. The Sox have a grand total of 3 starting position players under contract for next season and a clusterf*** of questionable talent to fill a few of those holes. This team is in shambles. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) Unbelievable. Did you see that Graffanino at bat? Three sliders, two on the outside corner with a filthy break, and the third one out of the zone. f***ing disgusting... The final pitch to Graffy was one of the most devastating pitches I've ever seen, Tony didn't come within a foot of the ball.
