  1. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) I miss having Blackjack in the booth! Every once in a while you want to hear a critical comment or 2 about a Sox player or perhaps a sarcastic quip about an opposing player. You just don't get that from Hawk.
  2. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) Everyone listening to the Injuns announcers? On the fly to Pods, "He has no throwing arm at all." How observant of them.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) No way in hell he is 6'2, 200. He looks so damn small out there. He just doesn't look like a HR hitter. I don't know what to tell you then, you don't have to be 6'4" 240 to drive the ball. You don get guys like Micky Mantle, Reggie Jackson and Alfonso Soriano who aren't the largest guys but are good enough hitters to where they can drive the ball with authority.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) Sweet, you are awesome Kalapse. I know.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) It says Pods grounded out to the pitcher. Bad bunt attempt? He put down a s*** bunt on the first pitch of the game but just rolled out to the pitcher after that. It wasn't a bunt.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) Well, he's certainly know more for his abilities to get 3B's and SB's, not HR's...thats what I meant by speed guy. He stole 22 bases last year and hit 28 HRs I don't really get how that works. Just look at his frame right now, he's not exactly a small guy, listed at 6'2" 200 lbs. When you have the abilities at the plate that Grady has you're going to hit some homeruns. I've also never heard anyone describe Sizemore as a speed player.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:08 PM) Shelton was at least a pretty big guy. Kinsler had 14 last year, Sizemore and Rollins are speed guys. Does it really seem logical to you, that a guy with his size, a lead off hitter at that, would hit 35+ HR's. If he hits that many, and with the state of baseball at where it is right now, questions will arise about juicing. He just has good natural power, you don't have to be a hulking muscle bound creature to hit a s*** load of HRs, just look at Alfonso Soriano. Some players are just naturally strong despite having a more lean and cut frame. Bulk does not necessarily = power. And he may bat 1st but he's not a leadoff hitter he's basically the definition of a 3 hole hitter. Grady Sizemore is not a 'speed' player, he's a natural hitter who drives to ball to all fields. He possesses all tools, unlike a Juan Pierre or Tony Womack who would by your more prototypical speed guys.
  8. I don't know about Cox Cable but on Comcast here the games that are 11+ are aired in the high 470's past the music channels.
  9. Why is Sizemore surprising? As a 23 year old last season he hit 28 but along with that he had 53 doubles. I was fully expecting 35+ from him this season.
  10. Lyle Mouton isn't actually in baseball anymore, that's just the last team that signed him, which was 5 years ago. On a side note: This will be my first game listening to Hawk this season. I've avoided him for the first 8 games but I figure I'm going to have to atleast give him a chance. Can't say I'm really looking forward to hearing him.
  11. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) I'll stop if he starts sucking like he did last year. I'm confused as to what you're trying to accomplish here, do you want him to be bad?
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) Javy Time... I predict 9 IP, 25 K, and Javy's first of many perfect games this season! Are you going to do this for every game he starts? You've only done it twice and I'm already annoyed.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) That's only a good deal IMO, not a great deal. It's a great deal if Cleveland is able to increase salary to still be able to hang onto guys like Hafner and CC when they hit FA in a couple years. Giving a 30 year old starter who strikes no one out, walks around 50 and gives up a s*** load of hits $11M a year when your payroll constraints seem to be right around $60M (having the 25th highest attendance in baseball last season will not help matters) could be a BIG mistake. CC and Hafner hit the open market after the '08 season and they'll pull in about $30M per year combined if they please. ~$40M for 3 players? I don't know.
  14. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 01:45 AM) I lost the folder with everything I've done for the boards... I've done that. Always fun. Remember that kickass Garcia sig from last season? The psd is long gone and it haunts me to this day.
  15. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) Not for a PROFESSIONAL~!~! like yourself. Rookies like myself not so much. As for Goldy, maybe he was out partying with Brian Anderson, and has since been released from his Soxtalk contract. We wish him well with his future en devours. The White Sox Organization doesn't wish good fortune upon any departing member, why should Soxtalk? Good riddance, I always hated that Venezuelan f***.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) True, but there's nothing like the real McCoy. True. Good luck getting anything from Glen though, the guy has gone AWOL.
  17. It doesn't look like it would be all that difficult to duplicate. I haven't seen a post from Goldy in a few months.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) What!?! I love Pedro. One of my favorites of all-time. My favorite pitcher to watch. #1 on my list and it's not even close.
  19. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Yea, again, I've never had a problem with him, this is more a result of ESPN and baseball tonight. They all suck. The thing is though, he's not getting a lot of positive press from ESPN, you can tell they want him to fail.
  20. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) Starting to hate A-Rod, but that is more a result of having to watch 50,000 highlights of him over the past few days. I actually love A-Rod, mainly because everyone else, especially in New York, seems to hate him.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) The greatest catcher of all time isn't going to turn Donald Duck into Cy Young, so I'm not certain that is the best barometer. I'm not picking Varitek or defending him, but I think just looking at the staff's current stats doesn't tell a story. Well Josh Beckett is supposed to be the second coming according to the mainstream media, considering his arsenal of pitches and mental toughness (physically, not so much) he should have been a whole lot better than he was last season. At a certain point, if his pitchers aren't performing Varitek needs to lose that distinction since there are no results to lend credence to this theory.
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Jeff Weaver. Robert Fisk (I HATE him with a passion) Fick
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) You know, now that I think about it, Joe Morgan. I mean, seriously, could he be anymore clueless sometimes? Tim McCarver
