  1. No, no he's not. Mainly because he is at his lowest value right now and there is no other true CF under 30 capable of playing every day in the organization. He's just not playing and should be in Charlotte.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) Soxtalk myth. Running wise? f*** yes. Considering how terrible he was on the basepaths for that period of time, I'd say he's was pretty ineffective as a leadoff hitter.
  3. QUOTE(pale_hose @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) whats .500 in 3 games? Overall .500 as in 4-4.
  4. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) Very early. But he has been playing fairly well and is helping the team win. And with him and Erstad playing fairly well and contributing, it means not having to sift through 8 threads of why ba should be starting. I'm liking our bullpen. Tonight was one of those feel-good wins that shows what we're capable of, and I hope they can get on a roll. I liked the execution for the most part. Brian should be starting, in Charlotte. I can't emphasize enough how badly they're f***ing up this whole situation, he's getting NO ABs, NO time in the field and is basically an afterthought when it comes to any sort of movement with position players. Luis Terrero should be in the majors right now, getting BA 1 or 2 ABs a week is only going to kill his development and make it even tougher to decide who to keep around in the outfield going forward.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Fixed. I'm basically the 1 percent who thought he would bounce back. It's still early by the way.
  6. Pods was VERY impressive tonight, he actually looked fast at times which is quite encouraging. I suddenly have a very good feeling about this team. The bullpen has been SO dominant and I have faith in 4 of the starters, good enough for me.
  7. QUOTE(Scwible @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) Heard on Comcast just now that Hawk will not be doing the broadcast tonight. Jack McDowell will fill in for him. I'd just like to thank the Red Sox for this thoughtful, early season gift.
  8. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) who's your pick to have a big series? I'm thinking jermaine dye blows up in a big way this series. on a sidenote, it's great to see the yanks lighting up ponson's s***ty ass. unfortunately that could actually be a bad thing in the long run as they will be quicker to pull the trigger on releasing him and bring garza back up Juan Uribe. Despite being historically terrible at the Coliseum, Juan is slimmed down, taking pitches and has been the most effective hitter in the lineup for the Sox thus far this season. On top of that, in his career he's 1-2 w/ a HR vs Gaudin, 2-5 vs Harden and 2-6 vs Kennedy. I picked Juan and Javy as my breakout players this year and I'm thinking this will be one of those series that Juan takes over.
  9. The Sox' #1/#2/#3 starters vs the A's #1/#4/#5 with everyone in the lineup healthy? Anything less than 2 out of 3 is unacceptable.
  10. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) Ozzie said on chisox.com that BA will start one of the games in this series. Probably tomorrow against Kennedy. Hopefully, Jose shows up and eat some innings. 1 win in Oakland will be good. Especially since we are unsure if Buehrle is going yet in game 3. Well Chad Gaudin is pitching tomorrow, being a righty I highly doubt BA will start against him. Wednesday however the lefty Kennedy will be pitching so Anderson will likely get his first start in game 3 of the series, game 8 of the season. I still have no idea why Anderson isn't starting in CF for Charlotte right now. Luis Terrero is perfectly capable of starting every 8th game and pinch running once a week. All this is doing is creating more question marks for the future.
  11. Yes, I gave him an extra TB for the stolen base and you're right atleast one of the caught stealing came after a BB but even then it's going to raise his AVG but hurt his OBP if I subtract it that way. I don't think it makes much of a difference. I wonder what Jimmy Rollins' numbers would look like from last year. He already has a high SLG% adding in the SB would just make him even more of a beast.
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) who is the new closer??....um try pujols's shot ruined him. Yeah, it's fairly obvious that the 9th inning blast by Pujols in game 4 of the NLDS destroyed Brad Lidge's confidence.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Since the sample size is still small this works out quite well. Podsednik is 1/3 on stolen bases, therefore he has been thrown out 2 times. If you do the simple exercise of dropping 2 times on base from the calculation of his OBP, which is for all practical purposes what happens on a CS, that knocks his OBP down to .308 from .461. Adjusted stats: .182/.308/.456/.764
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) I'm not yet ready to say that Podsednik has looked "Good". I'll take the OPS over .800 for the week, but that 1/3 stolen bases really eats into that OBP. Especially since Victor Martinez was the guy throwing. Exactly. "good" is not the right word.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Probably a little bit of truth in that, but let's not overlook that Erstad has been playing very well so far and Podsednik has been pretty serviceable enough. There's no reason why Anderson couldn't get a start in CF with Erstad in LF. Despite his batting average Pods has been pretty bad this week, getting Anderson a start in one of the first 7 games of the season was incredibly doable. Ozzie basically came out and said he didn't want Anderson on the roster but had to carry him anyway at the beginning of the season. Getting him 1 AB and an appearance as a pinch runner through the first 5 games and waiting until the end of the 3rd series to get him a start just affirmed it in my mind.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Wow, 10 days into the season he finally gets a start. Ozzie didn't want him on the roster to begin with and he's made that VERY apparent.
  17. I understand if you live in a small market and want to hear some sports talk he might be your only option. I get that. I just don't see why anyone would choose to listen to him with much better shows out there. There's just nothing appealing about him or the s*** that comes out of his mouth. That's my take anyway.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) And what is your definition of wuss? Isn't wuss a slang term? It is a slang term. The most common definition would probably be wimp. So 'f**' meaning wuss or wimp used as verb. "To show timidity or cowardice; chicken out." (from dictionary.com) You always f** out on me. You always 'wuss' out on me. You always 'wimp' out on me. You always 'chicken out' on me. Seems about right to me.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) First off, there are absolutely nothing on radio or tv today that can't also be found in blogs and on message boards, so the fact that with hundreds of thousands of people all communicating, that most are saying things that can be found elsewhere, isn't that big of a deal. I am certain that I just thought that up, but someone could find a blog somewhere that also said it, did I plagiarize? I like his guests, I like the pace of his show, I like that he will take the unpopular positions at times. And if you really think he knows absolutely nothing about sports, you probably mean his doesn't agree with you. No, I mean that he knows nothing. And he admits as much. I'm not talking about basic ideas and stories taken from blogs I mean reading entire entries from them and not giving any credit. He's pretty well known for this.
  20. And what exactly do you like about his show? The fact that he knows absolutely nothing about sports and the small amount of sports knowledge he displays is taken directly from Blogs?
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) And "you always homosexual out on me" makes sense to you?? Must be a generational thing but his version makes a hell of a lot more sense to me than yours. Why would you use a sexual term in that place? "f**" has been a slain term for "wuss" for quite a while now, at least it is where I grew up. I'm surprised you've never heard it.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) Just seems illogical to me. You've got a chance to throw your #1 against the best pitcher in baseball, but instead, you decide to go with the guy making his ML debut? I dunno, I hope I'm wrong and Danks gets the W. I sure do love me some Danks though, I'd just prefer he didn't make his 1st start against Johan. This way you give Buehrle an extra day of rest as well, it could be the difference between Mark making his start and having to go to an emergency to starter in his place. And to be honest I feel more comfortable with Danks on the mound than Contreras right now. That's how bad Contreras' stuff looked on Opening Day. Ozzie was also hinting that Contreras may be having some mental issues right about now, I'd rather not send a mental case out to the mound against a division rival and one of the most dominant pitchers of all time.
  23. So I assume then that Anderson will get his first start of the year in Oakland vs Harden. Ozzie wants to stack the lineup with lefties for Santana tomorrow and Anderson is going to have to play eventually so I'd say game 6, on the road vs one of the toughest pitchers in baseball is a good time to get Anderson into the lineup.
  24. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) He shouldnt be suspended. Again, the term "f**ged out" was used a lot to describe when one or another was tired out back in the 70's-the term may have evolved from England where at one time a cigarette was called a f** too in the 60's. And now you tell me how "tired out" makes ANY sense in the context of the statement. It doesn't. He's lying through his teeth and for some unknown reason people are going right along with it even though it doesn't fit. Like I said, I could really care less if he's using the word 'f**' to mean 'wuss' but to lie about it in this way just makes him look like a complete fool.
  25. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 01:04 AM) Rockies now, I think. Padres Actually, this offseason he and Heath Bell were dealt to San Diego for Ben Johnson and Jon Adkins.
