Well the Dodgers non-tendered Toby Hall so there's a fine option right there for the Sox.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) If you don't want t maximize your return why hire an agent at all? If they truly cared about the team, a player would just accept what the team thinks is fair and what the team can afford. That way the team could field a winner ever season. And after all, isn't that the most important thing, winning? I agree. There isn't much more I can add that I haven't already stated in my many other posts on the topic of Crede/Boras/White Sox relations. I don't blame Joe one bit for going for the money, I'd do the same.
-
QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) are you indicting him based off his continued association with Boras? You got it. You hire Boras in order to maximize your return, if he wasn't looking for as much money as possible he would never have hired Boras in the first place.

It's odd that Crede could hit behind 3 great hitters last year and still couldn't crack a .330 OBP. I mean Scott Spezio managed 37 BBs last year to Crede's 28 in half the ABs.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) That's what you said. And that was a lie. Besides last season, Crede has never even sniffed 30/100. Take a look at Ed Sprague, Kelly Gruber and Fernando Tatis' career stats compared to Crede's. Ed Sprague especially. There has been many a third baseman to peak at age 28 or so and put up a 30/100 season never to come close again.
-
Joe Crede has never had a 30 HR 100 RBI season and Joe is just as greedy as his agent, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yorvit Torrealba was tendered a contract by the Colorado Rockies, so there goes that idea.

So who did we gain/lose in the Rule 5 draft?
Kalapse replied to astralpanda's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's mainly because those 2 guys are bad pitchers and will likely never find a job as a relied upon reliever on a good major league team. -
I'd only have interest in Otsuka if it meant shipping him off elsewhere immediately following the trade.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) To add on to that, no one forces the PLAYERS to sign on with Boras. The players are just as money hungry. You don't chose Scott Boras as your agent to stay with your "home team" When a player picks Boras to represent them, they pretty much have 1 thing in mind. $$$. Exactly and that's what makes signing Crede to an extension anytime before the '08 offseason completely unrealistic, the players sign with Boras to maximize their income and he does that through free agency. If you sign with Boras you're going to free agency and you're going to make some money it's as simple as that.
-
There may not be another person on the face of the earth who is better at their job than Scott Boras, the man is a genius and I for one admire him. You can b**** about Boras all you want but it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense to blame an agent for the escalating price of players like 99 said before me, no one if forcing these owners to hand out insane contracts to average players that's all their doing.

So ESPN only has 1 song at their disposal tonight? I mean I like 'Give It Away' as much as the next guy but come on now.
-
So appearantely Rex can run?
-
He is my hero.

Jeff Shaw joined the Sox at the age of 28, was mediocre in his 9.7 IP with the team. Imediately became an elite bullpen arm the year after he leaving the organization in '96.
-
And the Red Sox dream to repeat is over.
-
If the Red Sox don't go any higher than $7.5M per year they could lose their bid but possibly more important than that they could really piss off some Japanese teams. It's been stated quite a few times by major publications that if the Red Sox do agree to terms with Matz that it could set them up in a good position to sign Japanese talent in the future and if they do low ball him like they're doing right now it could really give them a black eye in the minds of Japanese teams.
-
I can definitively say they are not the same person.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) I don't even want to know until it happens, but my guess is someone like Laverne. They all are. Laverne is just way too obvious, she doesn't play a major role on the show, I don't think she's ever had her own storyline and the actress who plays her has a couple other projects going on right now.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) Nope, unless Bill Lawrence is lying. He said someone will die that has been on the show for all six seasons. Well there goes that theory. If that's the case then I have no clue who's going to go.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) I hated him in 06 but cant deny his contributions to the team in 05 season and post-season... that game 4 was a masterpiece. Basically this.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) If Zambrano does resign with the Cubs, he better take them for every penny and not leave any money on the table elsewhere. I'm talking at least 5-6 years at $17-20 per season. It was in the Trib a few weeks back that Zambrano would be looking for a 6 year $15M ($90M) per deal which really doesn't make sense to me. Zambrano could easily get a larger contract than Zito from someone next offseason, why would he settle for any less than a $110M contract?
-
Since they're going to end up killing someone off this season I've come to the conclusion that it will either be the surgeon J.D. knocked up or one of the 3 babies.

I love it.
