QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Let's get this Arod thing done. ESPN is just now saying that Pinella wants him on the Cubs. And yet the Cubs have jacks*** outside of Zambrano to offer up to the Yanks.

Well a warrant has been issued for Uribe's arrest.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) I was a fan of the microphone slam, but thats just me. That was likely the saving grace of the press conference, he would have put himself in better position if the microphone had fallen off the podium and onto the floor however.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) You saying it's going to go into the Jim Mora/Herm Edwards hall of fame? I think it's borderline, Green screwed up because he didn't really include any memorable lines in the tirade like "PLAYOFFS!?!?" or "You play to win the game." but you just know that this press conference will have some excellent staying power.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Ronny Cedeno: .271 OBP, .245 AVG, much lower SLG but hes not a power hitter like Uribe supposidly is. And Ronny Cedeno sucks defensively of course he was a rookie so it's not a great comparison. Rey Ordonez on the other hand was one of the worst offensive players in Mets history but kept his starting job for half a decade because of his Gold Glove caliber defense.

You just know that Denny Green cut will be shown on SportsCenter and the like for the rest of eternity.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Hmm, well I didn't see that one coming. I'm not in my right mind, I'm pretty sure I have a concussion. I totally agree with you on Leinart, after Arrington returned the ball out past the 30 on the kickoff I just knew that bastard Leinart was going to drive them downfield. He has some seriously ice water flowing through his veins. This Cardinals offense is going to be insane once they find an offensive line.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) I was just joking around. I actually really enjoyed this game because besides the 2001 Bearsesque comeback, I really enjoyed watching Leinart play, he is not going to be good, he's going to be GREAT. Oh you think everyone is great, why don't you go hump a tree ya damn hippy.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Boring, boring game. Matt Leinart is really impressive though. Perhaps for a Dolphins fan but as a Bears fan I have no voice or energy left. What a horrible game, I don't know if it was a great team finding a way to win or a horrible team finding a way to lose but a win is a win I suppose. Just before Hester caught that final punt I whispered softly "One time baby" because of this, he does not have to do anything the rest of the season.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Anyone happen to catch highlights of Troy Polamalu tackled by his hair? Hilarious. I quietly cheer for moments such as those. Whichever player is willing to give the opposition another exposed item to attach themselves to deserves a good hair tug. Granted, he's a safety, but it's bound to play in your mind whenever running back an interception/fumble. I also took great pleasure in seeing that even though I am a huge Polamalu fan. The best part was after the tackle Polamalu just walked away from the play like he was tackled normally, how much you want to bet if Ricky Williams or Al Harris were dragged down by their hair they'd be raising hell they second they hit the ground?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Yea, I figured that. What's the exact number? I have serious doubts it's in the bottom 3rd, but rather towards the bottom of the 2nd tier of SS's. 20th out of 35.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Don't need to. I'm just having a conversation where I state my opinion and everyone else states theirs. So your opinion is that it's a good thing Juan Uribe and his brother decided to shoot 2 guys? That you hope he shot them out of cold blood as opposed to self defense simply because you think he's a bad baseball player? Sounds logical.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) yeah, I love me a guy with an .257 OBP. Wait, how many gold gloves has he won? Oh yes, none. Oh yes, and his "awesome" OPS of .698 was 20th in the list of all SS with atleast 200 AB. He also has an ISOD of .022. EDIT: Sorry, I was giving him too much credit. I put that he had a .290 OBP, while infact it was .257. When did the Gold Glove Award become the barometer for Gold Glove caliber defense?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Not a bad idea, but his option is going to get picked up. So they won't be picking up the $17M option but will likely will attempt to bring him back for another 2 years at a discounted rate. -
QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Career OPS+ AROD: 145 Jeter: 123 Mauer: 128 Miggy: 141 Sizemore: 126 Pujols: 171 Appearantly you havn't seen SportsCenter recently the nice men on the broadcast correctly pointed out that Alex Rodriguez is a bad player, teammate and person in general. I heard that he's never actually gotten a hit in the postseason unlike Jeter who is the Michael Jordan of baseball. On baseball tonight they had an investigative report about how Alex Rodriguez in his first year with the Yankees would actually give poisoned milk to school children, true story.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) How much experience did Baines have as a bench coach before '05? Heh, I just had to f*** up your argument, but I agree. It's not really f***ing it up. I as well as others believe Ozzie sucked at in game managing since he's gotten here which includes '05 he just had a once in a lifetime starting rotation and bullpen to make up for a lot of his f***ups.
-
The last thing Ozzie needs is a rookie bench coach by his side, that ship has sailed. Ozzie has proven that he does not have what it takes to be a competent in game manager so what he really needs is a grizzled old vet by his side on the bench who can get in his ear in tough managerial situations and keep him from totally f***ing it up. The sad thing is I'm basically describing Joe Nossek, it's a damn shame he felt the need to retire.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) I know I might get killed for saying this, but what about Mussina if we can get him to sign a 2 year deal. That way after the contract is up, Broadway and Heager will be ready, if there not ready before then. Is Carlos Zambrano available, I know he is a FA after 07, so maybe we can get him? But would the Cubs want to trade a young, all-star to the White Sox, and what would the Sox have to give up in return? Would you trade Fields for Zambrano striaght up if we can sign Zambrano and Crede to long term deals? Maybe that isnt realistic? Is there any way to get Lackey from the Angels? Would Garcia, Vazquez and Cotts be enough to land Lackey and Shields?... Peavy? Hudson? The way I look at it, is we have 6 starts, atleast one has to be traded, would that really improve the rotation that much? I don't think it will. Right now, I think you can pencil in Buehrle, Garland, and McCarthy into the rotation, but who will fill the other holes? I don't see how Buehlre could possibly be a lock at this point, hell his option hasn't even been picked up yet. Once the option is excercised he still isn't a lock seeing how he can walk after the '07 season. There are no locks for next year's rotation, the pitcher's who's jobs are the safest would be McCarthy, Garland and Vazquez then a little ways down you have Contreras followed by Buehrle and Garcia is on the very bottom of the list, here's a visual: Garland | McCarthy | Vazquez Contreras Buehlre Garcia -
There have been 3 team's mentioned in newspaper articles as possible trade partners with the Yankees, the Cubs, Giants and Marlins. None of the 3 make any sense really when you think about it. The Giants and Cubs just don't have the pieces to get the deal done unless the Cubs would be willing to give up Zambrano + some and all the Giants have left is Matt Cain and he alone is no where near enough. The Marlins makes zero sense, they thought about moving Willis midseason because he makes $4.35M why would they trade for a guy who made $10M more last season than the entire Marlins payroll combined?
