*alert* BRUCE GRADKOWSKI SIGHTING!!11 *alert* My favorite giant polish QB of all-time has no taken over for that little weiner Simms.
-
The Seahawks have NO pass protection or run blocking for that matter.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) disagree, Frank has been scorching while the sox and thome have been struggling. And who's to say Frank doesn't go down with a severe injury in the first week of the season if he was still on the Sox? It's amazing how he's managed to stay healthy who knows if he has that same luck if he had stayed in Chicago. Also, if you remember the Sox were pretty brutal for the first month of the season, Thome basically carried the damn team during that same time Frank was pretty damn bad the Sox would likely have fallen pretty far behind the Tigers if it weren't for Thome and who knows how far back they'd be right now.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Chris Simms is trash Air McNair is the opposite right now.

And Shaun Alexander fumbles again, this one he recovers. Hasselback got hit helmet to helmet by the beast Rogers.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Are you saying that just because he had a fumble and you're extrapolating, or is there something I don't know about him? The absence of Steve Hutchinson is going to cost him. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) Any Ernie Sims sightings? He looks good, he's running all over the field and has already made a couple nice tackles.

Shaun Alexander with a fumble after the Seahawks work their way down field into Lions territory. This is not going to be a great year for him.
-
Should be interesting getting a look at Josh Fields. Is it just me or are the Sox calling up way more guys this year than usual? Stewart, Haeger, Logan, Sweeney, Fields, Owens and Tracey? I don't remember the Sox calling up 7 any other season in which they were halfway decent.

I'm loving the Cincinnatti/KC game I'm getting on CBS but Lions Seahawks is hella weak. I'm not looking forward to another season of only getting NFC North team's games on Fox. So far Carson Palmer looks pretty damn good, the Chiefs are throwing a lot of different blitz packages his way and he's threading the needle he's made one very bad pass though which almost resulted in a pick.

I still want the Tigers to win today, both the Twins and Tigers have much easier schedules the rest of the way I'd much rather have the Sox take over the wild card lead and be completely in control of their destiny than have the Sox move to 2 GB (L column) in the division.

QUOTE(T R U @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Congratulations, you can hit the ball further now.. you still have to be able to *HIT* it before it can go anywhere and it doesnt matter what you take nothing is going to help you do that any better than you can naturally do it yourself.. Seeing the ball? maybe, but even then.. you still have to be able to hit the ball for the "steroids" to be of any use and even before all this happened Bonds had a great eye anyways Then why take them? If he has the natural ability to hit 73 HRs, hit .370 and walk 230+ times in a season why would he even bother risk long term health problems, going to jail and tarnishing an already hall of fame career by taking an illegal substance?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) I wouldn't. Good young pitchers are harder to find than good young outfielders. Plus, if you trade McCarthy, the 2007 starting rotation starts to look Cub like.

Those are some pretty badass pics.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Which poses a question for me Kalapse. I was watching but to disgusted to get back on line but went on after the game to see what everybody was saying. Where do the game threads go so quick? Overall...though to second guess the 9th IMO. I think my only second guess would have been to send Mac back out there after mowin em down in the eighth. He was loose...in a rythm and looked good. I was a little nervous knowing Bobby hadn't pitched in a while coming off a hip tweak. After every game the game thread is moved to the Archives: 2006 Season in Review so you can go back and find any game thread from the '06 season in there.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) I'm still going with the "Brian's a commie" explanation. Or a NAZI!!

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Well, can you prove, beyond a doubt, that Sosa or McGwire took anything? I know it looks like they did, and I do think that they did, but they haven't been proven guilty either. Even if damning evidence comes out that they used steroids, is there any proof how much influence steroids actually have on homerun totals? Sure, it gives the person more muscle, which means they will have the ability to hit the ball harder/farther, but how do you know if it will add 1 homerun, 3, 5, or 10? This is a court of law so I don't have to prove anything beyond a reasonabl doubt, all it really has to do is convince me that the guys are guilty and the hearings in Washington were the perfect topper for that. As for your second point, there are plenty of benefits to using HGH/steroids beyond adding muscle mass. Steroids can improve how fast you heal from an injury and HGH can improve eyesight that's just 1 for each, there's much more benefits if you want to do a little research. A couple of my buddies in high school decided to load up on a horse steroid for their junior and senior years of football and baseball and believe me that s*** has amazing effects on you and your ability to hit a baseball a long way.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) How do you know that Howard isn't on anything? I'm not saying that he is, but you can't really prove anything either way. Also, I hate Bonds, and I'm 99% certain that he used steroids, but the record is still 73. Howard will be innocent until proven guilty in my mind. There hasn't been a peep about Howard and any sort of performance enhancing supplements, once there's some credible proof that he did take something (like there is with Bonds), Howard is clean in my mind.

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) Don't tell that to these Ozzie haters. They are the virtual armchaired know-it-all managers. They would never make a mistake. Oh my gosh, why Hermanson is warming up? Put Jenks in. After two doubles, oh my gosh, Jenks is not doing well, put Thornton in. And if two more doubles, should have left Jenks in there... You know what, if you want to discuss it then do so, just knock this s*** off. If you truely believe any of this s*** to be the case then you didn't read the game thread in the top of the 9th last night.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) To the Oz haters who blast me mercilessly for supporting him ... this guy covers baseball for a living and wrote that sentence, so at least admit some people think the guy can manage!!! Thank you. I could find you articles from people who cover baseball for a living who think Scott Podsednik is a great leadoff hitter, which couldn't be further from the truth. Just because some guy who writes for the Daily Herald thinks Ozzie should be considered for manager of the yaer doesn't mean that it is reality. Hell in the same article he mentions Mike Cameron and Torii Hunter as possible replacements for Brian Anderson, which is a crock of s***, so yeah I'm not sure how much credibility Scott Gregor has right now.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) Also just curious .. if Oz had yanked him and brought in a reliever who lost the game, me thinks fathom still woulda blamed Oz. Cause he wouldn't have brought in the reliever you wanted. This is just incorrect. If Ozzie pulls Jenks before Sizemore comes to the plate and goes to Thornton (who was the only pitcher warming) and Thornton blows the lead? Ozzie would be getting praised right now for making the right decision. You have to remember, we're not just hating on Ozzie because it's a fun thing to do or because we hate him or something he just catches heat for some of the seemingly stupid things he does. Ozzie has been praised a lot in the past by myself, Fathom and any other "Ozzie hater" on this board, there isn't a lot of 2nd guessing going on, it's mostly 1st guessing and when he makes a seemingly stupid move that does not work out, he's going to catch hell for it that's part of a manager's job.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) It was? If you don't think it was then you were not watching him pitch. He was tossing crap up there every pitch he threw was hit hard and it all started with the fluttering cutter he threw on the first pitch.
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) I love how AJ keeps hitting walkoffs on games when we have a different uniform It's good to know that if the Sox are playing a night game on WGN and wearing a funky uniform AJ will likely hit a walkoff.
-
QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) I don't criticize ozzie because I believe in his managerial skills. I think many of you are forgetting that Ozzie instills confidence in his players by showing that he trusts in their abilities. So I don't mind that he left Jenks in, not because we won but because Jenks will have the confidence next time around to close out a perfect game. Just remember without this ingredient we wouldn't be World Series champs. Ok, it's very likely that if the Sox did end up losing this game they may not even make the playoffs. You can't go around sacrificing games in the name of confidence especially in September when you're a game back in the Wild Card race.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) I can understand your and fathom's position on wanting to cut the losses and have Thornton come in, but Jenks has had outings where he's been ineffective and still sucked it up and gotten the save before. This game had extenuating circumstances in Jenks' hip injury. As far as I know Jenks has never gone into a game with a 2 run lead and an injury and come out on top. I've never seen Jenks look as bad as he did tonight, that first cutter he tossed up there was just horrible, no power or bite to it at all. It was appearant from the beginning that Jenks was not going to be able to get anyone out, that's when you get someone in there who can you don't just leave him in there to lose the game because he's your closer.

Following the first double in the 9th: QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Garcia starts tend to have that effect on people. This is currently the best defensive OF we've had all year, it's a damn shame we'll never be able to see it for a full game though. THORNTON NOW! Following the 2nd double: QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) THORNTON NOW!!!!!!!1
