  1. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I don't think that quote is that bad. I think its partially true. Some managers might have given up on Crede already, and maybe he'd be a bench player/spot starter. Who knows? Thats what I think too.. 2005 was Joe Crede's 3rd full season in the big leagues, he showed some nice progression at the plate in pitch selection early on in the year as opposed to the year before. Joe was showing flashes of brilliance that were overshadowed by month to month inconsistencies and back problems all this while playing elite defense at a VERY important position. I really don't think Joe Crede's spot on the roster was in as much jeopardy as some people may think. Guillen loves talking about the fans in his pressers and how their opinions are often wrong, I'd say he's likely addressing them with that quote.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) Well Crede wouldn't be here if the majority of ST had control of what was taking place in the Sox organization. That's why Organizations aren't run by large groups of fans. I do belive Ozzie is completely off his rocker.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) If Garland were to break Herschiser's record, that would drop his ERA to around 3.50. I think that would do it. 60 consecutive innings pitched of scoreless baseball isn't totally out of the question is it?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Yesterday's Sun Times had the quote. If someone can find it and post it, I'd appreciate it. Dear lord I hope this is a misquote. http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay08.html
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) A lot of pitchers would have to literally die for Garland to have a realistic shot at the Cy Young. It's not happening, especially because his ERA will not be below 4 this year, and probably not even below 4.5. Yep, even if Halladay, Verlander, Santana and Liriano all miss the rest of the regular season with exploding elbows Jon still won't get a Cy Young vote.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) BTW, was Mariotti accurate when he wrote that Ozzie Guillen said that the reason Joe Crede is good is because of Ozzie Guillen? God I hope not.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) "I'm tired of people saying there's time," Pierzynski said. "There's not time. You got to go out and do it." This is the best quote I've seen out of the White Sox organization all season That's pretty funny that within the past few days we've had IMO the best and worst quotes of the season from a person in the White Sox organization. The AJ quote is beyond perfect, there should be a serious sense of urgency right now for this team and I can't say that I've seen it from them but this quote shows me that atleast one guy in the Clubhouse knows what the current situation is. The worst quote, was from Guillen talking about McCarthy, Brandon went out there last September and put together 5 starts that the Sox desperately needed, HE was the best pitcher in baseball last September picking up 3 victories and posting a 1.69 ERA/0.91 WHIP on a team that was circling the drain, I'm not sure the Sox even make the playoffs last season if he doesn't step it up in the final month. For Guillen to speak ill of him like that was just sickening.
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Gonna miss the guy. Remember his streak to start the season? 19 IP without a run or something? Wicked! 21 IP, 11 Saves. 0 ER for 2 whole months.
  9. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) I didn't realize he only had three losses... how is it possible that people were calling him Judy and the walking tampon in game threads a couple months ago...? This kid is starting to look like a contender for the AL cy young. Well Garland was basically one of the worst pitchers in baseball for the first 2 months of the season. First 11 starts: 70 IP | 88 H | 37 K | 17 HR (2.19 per game) | 6.04 ERA | 1.49 WHIP | Pathetic Last 11 appearances: 72 IP | 78 H | 35 K | 4 HR (0.5 per game) | 3.88 ERA | 1.29 WHIP | Excellent I wouldn't put much into his W/L record this year, he was getting an insane amount of run support so he was picking up a ton of no decisions and some wins in very high scoring games. He's been pretty damn good of late but to call him a Cy Young candidate is pretty damn insane.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) I dunno. Ask Mark Burly. Javier Vasguez might be a little more receptive to such a question.
  11. These are the times I wish this team still had the Widge.
  12. QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) ummmmm, might want to add a certain south side left fielder to that list!!!! Podsednik's arm blows but I'm not ready to put him in the same breath with those 3.
  13. 8 different closers have now blown saves against the Sox this year, the list includes Ryan Dempster, Bob Wickman, Eddie Gaurdado, Chris Ray, Huston Street, BJ Ryan, Jonathan Papelbon and Mariano Rivera. Not bad.
  14. Most catchers (especially experienced ones) in baseball do that. They'll flash the signal for the pitch then wait for the pitcher to start his windup before moving to the location of the pitch. It's just a way for the catcher to keep the batter from peaking at him to catch the loacation of the pitch. AJ has done it his entire career as has Sandy Alomar, it's something that's very prevalent in the game today.
  15. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Anyone else suprised at how deep Damon was playing? He didn't have a chance, especially with Tad running. Have to question Torre on that one. Johnny Damon would have to be playing 2 steps behind the the bag at second to have any chance with that noodle arm. Damon is atop the list of most pathetic OF arms in all of baseball, he's right there with Rondell White and Juan Pierre.
  16. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) 13 of 20 might be a tad unrealistic. It would basically mean winning every upcomming series while splitting the 4 gamer in Detroit. I'd say that's pretty damn doable.
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...p&team=away I guess it depends on what the definition of "got to him" is, I take it to mean blown save which that is not.
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I believe he was already on the list because we have gotten to Rivera before this season. FWIW, ask Gregory Pratt. The Sox scored 2 runs off him in a previous game this season but he did not blow a save, so technically this is the first time the Sox have "gotten to him".
  19. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) Great win! Now can we end the Mackowiak in CF experiment??? Please, Ozzie????? I love Mackowiak--he hustles, hits fairly well, and can play many positions. But he should never start in CF unless Anderson is hurt. It's not happening, lets just hope this issue is addressed in the offseason. If there's one gripe I have with KW it's this, I felt comming into the year we had an incomplete roster and I feel the same way now. There's just nobody on this team who can go out there and play even average defense in CF other than Anderson.
  20. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) the New York media will blame A-rod for the loss they say he should have caught that foul ball before the game winning hit That is exactly what I was thinking as that play was going down, right after the ball landed I thought, if Dye comes through here A-Rod will be the scapegoat.
  21. JOHNNY DAMON THROWS LIKE MY GRANDMOTHER!!!
  22. Oh man they got Thunderstruck playing, f***ing cool.
