7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Trust me he's on my hitlist, along with Bob Rohrman and Joan Cusack....their days are numbered.... If you so much as lay a finger on Bob Rohrman I will hunt you down like a dog and return the favor.

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) low 1s? do you just make numbers up to prove your point? He's right, Santana's ERA Vs the Sox over the past 3 years is around 1.30.

Javy has made some beautiful pitches today.

And the speedy play by the LF pays off.

Wow, that was a beautiful pitch by Javy on the corner.

The Andruw Jones Thread
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) I would rather have Brady Clark and more pitching. Totally agree. I'll take my chances with Brian Anderson in CF and Brady backing him up, no need to acquire another $12M+ player.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) where's young gonna play anyway when you all drool over fields in left and sweeney in right and our boy anderson in center. it was worth a shot now its the beach parade around here when anything goes wrong, if javy ever turns it around it will be great and everyone will change there minds like with garland(for the most part). i'll just watch the game and enjoy it for what it is today later Who the hell is "drooling over Fields in left"? If Young was still with this organization, no doubt in my mind he would be up by now replacing Podsednik.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Kalapse, dont you love how the baseball gods work. No matter what you do, when you start a player out of position the ball finds him. It is crazy. I've gotta say this is one of the most confusing seasons the Sox have ever had. Garcia has lost all kinds of velocity and no one in the organization has addressed this with the public, Mark Buehrle suddenly sucks, Podsednik has actually gotten worse in LF, the Sox replace Widger with a player who is actually worse in Alomar and for whatever reason Ozzie/KW continue to trot a 3B/RF out to CF twice a week.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
If a Brady Clark type player is not on this team come tomorrow, I'm going to be pissed. There's 1 major league CF on the roster and 1 major League LF, oddly enough the LF is Mackowiak.

Abreu and Lidle to the Yankees
The Yankees also get Corey Lidle in the deal . . . http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2534459

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
This is very similar to the lineup he put out there for the Rowand/Yankees series last year. IIRC they didn't put up many runs.

Coco Crisp offered to the Sox?
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) It is being reported as a "starting pitcher". From ESPN Insider: It's believed to be Mark Buehrle, now.

I have an idea for pitching....
QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) That tells us we know nothing! Stop being an arm-chaired manager, and let Ozzie do his job. If we banned arm chair managing/GMing from the site there would basically be no point in even comming here.

Dontrelle Willis almost a White Sox?
It mainly has to do with the fact that he's not very good but I'm sure there's other contributing factors.

Crawford
QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) TB I think would take Vazquez if we payed most (if not all) of his contract, plus they would take sweeney, and possibly someone else. It will never happen though, thank goodness McCarthy or bust.

Konerko's injury
How's Timo doing down in AAA Memphis now a days? Maybe we can give him a shot a firstbase, he did well there last year, he's much faster than Konerko, ULTRA CLUTCH unlike Konerko and he doesn't hit any HRs so we won't be stuck with the burden of a 1B who hits HRs.

Padres "focused on Fields"
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) I think if you look at what he's done over the past few seasons, most experts know that he's just in a slump right now, and hey so is Trevor Hoffman for that matter. Exactly, only looking at a players overall season stats for one year is pretty short sighted in my opinion. A pitcher can have a great week or two and completely skew his numbers as well and if you're only looking at season stats you're not going to see the full picture. The guy has been stellar for the past two seasons and this year as well up until this past week. But I guess he sucks because his ERA is in the 3's for the season.

Poll: Who will the Sox trade for?
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:54 AM) See my sig. Right hand hitting 4th OF, the one thing this team seriously needs.

Poll: Who will the Sox trade for?
Brady Clark or nothing.

Just what the hell is Milwaukee doing...
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) Given his contract, and OBP and SB numbers, I would do Abreu for Fields and Podsednik, but not more on our side unless a lot of money was included. Seriously though, how great would Abreu be as a leadoff man? He doesn't play great defense (certainly better than Podsednik) but he does have a pretty strong arm with ok accuracy. Just think about how amazing it would be to have a guy with a .280 avg with an insane .429 OBP. He's stolen 20 bases and only been thrown out 4 times the guy is just a smart baserunner, I'll take 20SB and 4 CS over Podsednik's 29 and 12 anyday. Other than the fact that he's making a spiffload of money, the guy would be a perfect leadoff hitter.

Padres "focused on Fields"
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) I'm not thrilled at all with Linebrink. Can someone enlighten me as to why he is valued so high? I really know little about him other than his numbers are far from flashy and he is 29 years old. How are they "far from flashy"? He's a top 5 righty setup man in baseball, period. He has dominated the National League for the past 3 seasons and has been about as consistent as they come. Take another look at those stats because they don't get much better than that. He's given up 7 runs over his past 4 outings so his numbers aren't going to look great for this season but a week ago he was sporting a 2.62 ERA.

Coco Crisp offered to the Sox?
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Ahh spiff. I keep forgetting about that. I would give up Cotts for him, even though I love Neal. Other than that, I'm undecided on McCarthy (but I'm pretty sure KW would want more if he was to give up McCarthy) and as far as I'm concerned MacDougal Jenks and Thornton are untouchable. And I want them all locked up. We will have the best bullpen in the league for years to come with those 3 on the back end. With all the media speculation surrounding Vazquez and Garcia, I am inclined to think GMs will be apt to at least call and see the availability of those two if they are at all interested in their services. http://www.angelfire.com/droid/kalapse/Whi...Progression.htm Jenks is locked up through '11, Thornton '10 and MacDougal through '09 so I wouldn't worry about losing any of them anytime soon.

Coco Crisp offered to the Sox?
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) More of an assumption, considering it's likely known around the league that those two can be had. Garland has no-trade of course. I doubt he gets many inquiries on Buehrle and Contreras. Although I suppose they could have been meaning McCarthy. That would make the deal quite interesting, and tempting. It'd be a tough call. That's why I'm glad I don't sit in the big office. Buster Olney did not say it was a starting pitcher, for all we know they called about Cotts, Thornton, MacDougal, Jenks or McCarthy.

Coco Crisp offered to the Sox?
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Why exactly don't you like this deal? I feel he's a better hitter than Podsednik, is only making 2.75 million(and he just signed a 3-year extension worth 15.5M thru the 2009 season - he receives a 1M signing bonus and salaries of 3.5M in 2007, 4.75M in 2008 and 5.75M in 2009), is 26 years old, is a better defender than Podsednik, and it gives us the opportunity to dump the salary of a Vazquez/Garcia as well as move Mac into the rotation. This seems like it'd be a pretty good all around deal to me. Whoever said it was Garcia/Vazquez?
