  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I'll get this up on the site on Sunday if you don't mind. I'll also link it on the top of the forums. Sounds good, the more information up on the site the better.
  2. I put this together so none of you EVER have an excuse for fishing up someone's contract status . . . White Sox Contract Progression Sheet. Let me know if you see any mistakes.
  3. Farmer said tonight that they expect him to be moved in Baltimore. If I'm the Orioles I'm jumping all over the Angels' offer, that's incredibly solid. Santana would be a very quality starter for them for years to come and they add a major middle infield spect in Aybar to eventually replace Miggy, if not this year. Miggy just isn't worth McCarthy. 4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) wasn't it also in Baltimore last year when Crede made his "request"? I do believe that to be true.
  5. They're playing "Don't Stop Believin'" at Camden Yards. Very cool.
  6. The 3 flamethrowers were all on their games tonight, no one is getting on base when Matt, Mike and Bobby are on.
  7. So they pulled off the hardest win of the series: the first game and the toughest pitcher. Wow
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) We really need something pinned at the top of pht that just says, "JOE CREDE IS NOT A FA AFTER THIS SEASON." Perhaps I should put it back in my sig.
  9. QUOTE(dyenamite23 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) the problem is what do we do if crede walks and we traded fields Worry about that in '09.
  10. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) That is awesome. If I wasn't so down on the Sox that'd be my new wallpaper. Awesome work Goldy QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) "PhenOminal." QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Outstanding job as usual. What else can you say? QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Sick ^^^
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) We are doomed...Freddy is at his best when we are all feeling like we have no chance. Think Cincy when we thought we were going to see a whooping and he ended up turning things around. We will win tonight though...offense is going to show up and I actually do have some confidence in Frederico Ha! Speak for yourself, IMO we could have thrown Heager out there for a game and come up on top. I probably had more confidence in this team going into that series than any other. The Reds are a horrible team with pathetic starting pitching, defense and an even worse bullpen.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Details when he's done, plz. He doesn't take trade rumors very seriously, he jokes around about them now. Doesn't believe any of the rumors. It was his dream growing up to play for the Sox and there's no way he wants to leave. The clubhouse has basically been the same all year but he feels it's picked up a bit since getting to Baltimore, they're feeling a bit more positive. Getting used to the relief role took him awhile at first but he's finally setteled into it. he doesn't think jumping back into the rotation would be a problem He also had a good quote, they normally have him on every few weeks to talk about the team, "would you guys still be opposed to doing the show if I'm pitching for the Nationals?" Brandon is such a great interview.
  13. Brandon McCarthy, the 3rd best interview on the Sox (behind AJ/BA) is on Boers and Bernstein right now.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Bunch of points in reply. First, the question wasn't if they threw 130+ innings, it was whether they threw 200+ innings. Secondly, and here's the real key IMO; a lot of those guys warmed up on their way to 200 innings, they didn't just jump from 130 to 230. Kazmir jumped from 134 to 186. D-Train threw 157 in 02 in the minors, then 197, then 197, then 236. Chacin threw 165 innings in 04 before throwing his 203 in 05. Jeff Francis threw 160 in 03, 200 between the minors and the big leagues in 04, and 184 in 05. Joe Blanton went 178 to 184 to 201. So a lot of these guys have had a couple years to build up their innings, they aren't always just thrown into the fire in pushing 230 innings their first year after throwing 130 the year before. And another thing, it's probably worth noting how many injuries you have showing up on that list above, or either a combination of injuries and mysterious falling-backs in performance. And those are for guys making less of a jump than Verlander will have to do if they don't sit him down for a while Basically what I was trying to show is it just does not happen, you don't have them throw 200 innings the guys I listed are basically the young pitchers in the league who were allowed to throw the most innings early on in their pro careers and hardly any of them, if any jumped to the majors at such a young age and imediately threw ~200 in their first season. And I'd say that it's pretty telling that these guys who threw much less than 200 innings still found themselves plagued with serioius arm problems a few years later.
  15. So this should assure Brady Clark to the Sox damnit, thy already had Corey Hart, Gabe Gross, Tony Gwynn, Geoff Jenkins, Carlos Lee and Brady Clark now they add Laynce Nix while replacing CLee with Mench? They had no use for Brady before, now there's zero use for him in Milwaukee. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) It's not like the Rangers gave up pitching in this deal. At least not pitching that was performing well. Cordero really appeared to be toast he started struggling last year, just giving up a ton of hit at inopertune times and this year he has just been horrid against every team that's not the White Sox. I really don't think he had a lot of value. To say the Rangers gave up a lot in this deal is a serious stretch.
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) no one is talking to you.
  17. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) perhaps you want to go back to square one. Let's bring the 2003-04 style of play back. That will work. Ugh, reading comprehension. "other teams" = "we"
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Mark Prior. Kerry Wood Jason Jennings Rick Ankiel Roy Oswalt Captain Cheesburger Kaz Ishii Damian Moss Ryan Jenson Josh Fogg Jason Simontacchi Rodrigo Lopez (197 IP) More Recent Dontrelle Willis Brandon Webb (soft tosser) Jeriome Robertson Daniel Cabrera Zach Greinke Last Year Gustavo Chacin (203) Joe Blanton (201) Scott Kazmir (186) Jeff Francis (184) That was just real quick, in the past 6 years all of them threw 130+ in either their 1st or 2nd year and were under 26/25 years old at the time.
  19. How about we name a few pitchers in the past 10 years who threw ~200 innings in their first full season in the bigs or even their second full season, either one. No seriously how many can you think of off the top of your head?
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) It's so important for KW to add a righty outfielder who can play solid defense/run. Hell, bring back Darren Lewis from retirement. I totally agree, I really think we'll be seing a Brady Clark type player added to the roster by August 1st.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) You mean Santana? ugh, I have no idea how I did that.
  22. Garcia is not the same Garcia from the past, he's lost a ton of velocity on his fastball and sits at around 86 MPH right now. What was the last big game he won this year? (Don't tell me the Cards game because that was a pathetic lineup for a pretty bad team) I see his last start as being pretty damn fluky seeing how nothing has changed with him. Freddy Garcia without the heat is not a big game pitcher.
  23. The Tigers have managed to go 4 months without "comming down to earth", what makes you think they'll do that now? Just curious.
  24. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) I'm not calling for it. I'm just surprised that awhile ago, there were a ton of people suggesting it. Now that Ozuna's back on Earth, nobody's clamoring for a bench player to play fulltime anymore...and with good reason! That's funny because we currently have a AAA DH in LF.
