  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) Some bad baseball being played this inning. No surprise, but Vazquez is about to give up a run after we get the lead. I'm so f***ing sick of this debacle of defense being played in LF. It's not going to get any better with Juan Pierre out there next year.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) The Tigers traded for Neifi. Well they just took the division.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) 6-6 in Detroit. EDIT: 6-5 Tigers. Sorry It is tied. Bondy looks like s*** out there. Bonderman is now being pulled after 4 2/3 innings, 6 ER. Not pretty.
  4. Jim Thome has 4 career hits off Johan, 3 have left the ballpark.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) That's just a great start. That ball landed like a foot in front of Ozuna....why didn't he dive? Pablo probably would have impaled Uribe with his pointy little head.
  6. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) AJ is a .091 vs Santana....Konerko is .128 Luckily Sandy Alomar is .182 so we're in good shape.
  7. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) ]If he had 60 stolen bases by now, everyone would still ignore his awful defense and journeyman OBP. This is just flatout wrong.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) KW....get on the phone with the Mets! Best wishes to Glavine though. If they lose Glavin (which I hope they do not) they'll literally have no starting rotation going into September, talk about desperate.
  9. You know who would be a perfect fit for White Sox right now? Aaron Rowand, he'd be the absolute perfect 4th OF for this team seeing how he can play above average defense at all 3 OF positions while at the same time supplying that right handed bat off the bench with a little pop.
  10. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) from my view it looked like the ball was just 3-4 rows off of the concourse how can it only be 435 feet? I just checked the replay to confirm what I said, so how is it only 435 to a concourse in left, while it was 504 feet when joe borchard hit it a couple rows father? Dye's was basically straight down the left field line, Borchard's was to right center field closer to center, huge difference in distance between the 2.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Just woke up in time to see this Yankee rally. w00000t It's nearly 2 o'clock, you are pathetic.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) kalapse, I need my ID back. You said you would only use it to buy a 6ixer. I can't wait until 2010 when you will be of legal drinking age. I'm tired of helping out your habit. You give me no f***ing credit, my ass turns 21 in the magnificent year of '08.
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) do your parents know your up so late? Uribe will be just fine. He will be on the south side for a few more years. Dig this post up if I'm wrong. But What I could do is, dig up thousands of posts of speculation, here on soxtalk , the last few years, that never came true. Sloshed
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Not a rumor, just something I'm gonna throw out there. Garcia + Podsednik in a deal centered around David Eckstein? What exactly would that accomplish? He's basically a shorter Podsednik with a weaker arm who plays shortstop and doesn't stealbases. Not to mention, all you ever hear from Cardinal fans is how overrated his defense is. Based on his final 2 years in the AL I'd expect numbers similar to these from David: .260/.330/.330/.660 + 16 SBs, that's pretty horrible.
  15. I heard that Bud Selig has cancelled all games this weekend except for those being played within the Massachusetts state border, this way proper attention can be placed on this most epic of series. Can anyone confirm this?
  16. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Can Pierre play left at all? He's not a horrible defensive CF due to his great recovery speed so he could probably hold his own in LF fielding wise. He however, has one of the worst arms in the history of organized baseball. He'll catch a ball in mid to shallow centerfield and put the ball on the ground before the infield grass. I for one do not want another low OBP, low BA, no power, high SB, pussy armed leftfielder, especially one who's going to be making 5-8 million per year over the next 4 seasons.
  17. QUOTE(fullcollapse @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) ok, general waivers question. wouldn't the red sox go to the bottom of the list because they claimed javy lopez? for some reason i always thought if you claimed someone and completed the trade you moved to the bottom. but yeah, i'm sure soriano didn't even make it to the al teams. Nope the Red Sox would remain in their current spot on the waiver list, you only move up/down the waiver list in Fantasy Baseball.
  18. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) I'll start the speculation. I think the Sox will pursue Juan Pierre. Not saying it's a great move, but based on his history with Ozzie and the fact that he may only requier a $5-6 mill per season contract makes it interesting. Bob Yep, this is just about the worst case scenerio in my book. They'll go out and sign Juan Pierre to a nice sized 4 year deal and the team will be worse off for having done it.
  19. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Eh, it's not like I know the faith of any players on the Sox. But Leary does claim to be the diehard of diehards. Shawn Green and Gabe Kapler are the 2 most recognizable Jewish Baseball players currently in the league, you'd figure a supposed HUGE Red Sox fan like Denis Leary might be aware of such a thing.
  20. The Red Sox are ahead of the White Sox, Yankees and Tigers on the waiver list so it's likely that if he did fall that far it would have been the Red Sox that caimed him.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) There was an article in one of the Texas papers saying that Jon Daniels may not even re-sign Padilla in the off-season just because of all the trouble he's caused this season with these type of things. Certainly an interesting way to look at it I suppose. WTF is his problem anyway? He's become the Danny Fortson of the MLB, he's basically just a piece of s*** headhunter at this point in his career. I don't remember him going after people when his ass was in the NL having to go up to the plate 2-3 times a game, so now that he's protected by the DH he decides to go after any hitter that looks at him the wrong way?
  22. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) No, I wouldn't. As far as I understand, the point of trading Garcia is to trade him while he still has any value at all as a 'big game pitcher' and to dump his contract. Adding Furcal where we would pay him 9-10 million would mean we aren't dumping any contract, and still have nearly 100 million tied up in 15 players or so. If we traded Uribe (who is better defensively than Furcal) and Pods, we'd be saving probably about 5 million (without looking at the numbers, so I don't know how accurate that is), and thats without including whoever we'd get from the Padres. It just doesn't work out for me. Since when is Garcia a salary dump? You don't trade him while his value is high simply so you can get rid of the contract, you trade his ass now because you have someone better than him waiting in the wings. The Sox aren't exactly in Financial trouble here, they don't have a lot of big money long term contracts so I really don't think they have to worry about that. If the fact that we'd only clear $5M is the only reason you wouldn't make a deal then I'm not so sure I agree with that. I personally wouldn't want Furcal because he's a danger to himself and others, if he wasn't a f***tard then I'd probably make such a deal.
