  1. Ryan Howard disappoints in his 4th and final AB, lining a single into CF and going 4-4 on the day with 3 HRs and 4 RBI. In other news MVP#2 in the NL, Albert Pujols has 5 RBI so far today (5th inning) and oh year he also has 3 HRs on the day, 42 on the year. The NL MVP candidates are putting on a show today. Howard: 4-4, 3 HR, 4 RBI Pujols: 3-3, 3 HR, 5 RBI
  2. Um, Ryan Howard just hit his 3rd HR of the game. He now has 52 HRs and 133 RBI, OPS: 1.059 I'm speechless.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) After looking at it, I didnt realize he was 26... Yeah, sadly he spent 4 years in the minors after being drafted at the age of 21, Albert Pujols is actually 2 months younger than Howard and has a 4 year head start in the bigs.
  4. I don't cheer for players who put their's and other's lives in danger through drunk driving especially when they're going 100+ MPH in a Ferrari at night. But other than that, good for him.
  5. Ryan Howard just hit ANOTHER homerun he now has 2 on the day as well as 3 RBIs. He now has 51 HRs and 132 RBIs and it's only September 3rd, if he gets REAL hot he could become the first non-steroid user to ever hit 62 HRs in a single season. He is a monster.
  6. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) I'll always respect Julian Tavarez for flaming on the flaming Cubs fans when he played on the North Side. Julian Tavarez deserves the respect of no man he is by the very definition of the word, a loser.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) Good stuff. Dayn Perry's old pic must have been from years ago, because he's ballooned and added some glasses since the last time I read one of his articles. Cheesus, what happened to him? How the hell is this the same person?
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) I hope we see Sweeney starts in monday and wednesday's games. Well seeing how he's come out of the pen 52 times this year for Boston, I'd hope his ERA would be below 5.
  9. Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2B Dye, RF Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Crede, 3B Pierzynski, C Anderson, CF Uribe, SS Would have loved to see Sweeney start in left but other than that, me likey the Sunday Lineup.
  10. What the hell kind of name is Kason anyway? Did someone's finger slip on the keyboard when typing out his birth certificate? They wanted Jason but at that point it was just too late.
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Sox playoff chances ......> Charlotte's playoffs If Sweeney's not going to be used then he should be in AAA helping the Sox affiliate win a Championship, no matter what you might think keeping your affiliates happy is an incredibly important job. Charlotte had been clamoring for a winner for a while now and they've got it this year now they've lost 2 of their best SPs, 1 to the Sox and 1 to the Olympics, their starting catcher, their closer and one of their big bats. They basically have no shot in the playoffs now. If Ozzie's not going to use Sweeney then Ryan should be in Charlotte getting atbats and keeping the Knights happy so they don't someday drop the Sox as a parent club.
  12. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) who cares I'm 100% more focused on a playoff spot than anybody's individual achievements right now Do you play for the Sox? Because if not then I'm not really sure how it matters what you're focusing on. I for one am really hoping Dye wins the MVP for a few reasons really 1.) He deserves it 2.) It would be a nice to to the Amazing Jeter.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines What the hell does that even mean? I'm not sure it's even possible to hate a manager even more than I do now but Ozzie just continues to piss me off, the sad thing is people will actually accept this excuse even though it makes absolutely no sense.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Konerko said that Thome was a huge reason he came back. Its not a conclusion, its a fact. There's no telling what Rowand would have done with the White Sox. His numbers aren't that much better than Anderson's playing in a weak league. He may have been great, he may have gotten injured on opening night. Thome is a better player than Frank Thomas at this stage. Plus he's left handed. Dye and Konerko had nowhere near the success with Frank hobbling around than they have had with Thome. Everything people around here complain about Thome lacks Frank lacks more except for strikeouts. Frank cannot hit doubles. He is slower than Konerko. Another thing, Frank Thomas wasn't cleared to play until just before the season started. For a defending champion looking to repeat to wait that long for an answer to what would be a huge piece of the puzzle would have been too big a gamble. I know every game has the possibility of being anyone's last, but in Frank's case the odds are better. He's one misstep or foul ball from being done. Also, just because Frank has remained relatively healthy for A's does not mean he would have done the same had the White Sox retained him. That's just what the Sox would need, Frank goes down the second week of the season and have to go the rest of the way with Gload/Konerko (asuming he resigned) at DH, with the way the pitching has been the year the Sox would be completely f***ed.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) Putting BMac in the lineup as a starter, would be the most unfair thing we could do right now. He isn't "stretched out" for the extended innnings, and the pressure would be incredible, epecially for someone who is basically a rookie. I don't think it would be enough of an upgrade at this point in the season. Pressure? You mean like throwing a rookie who had already been brutal in his first go round in the bigs into the middle of a playoff race last year? He was a rookie last year, that title is gone as it should be for Anderson as well, Bmac has thrown 138 IP in his career that's some damn good experience right there. In case people forget this "rookie" was the best starting pitcher the Sox had down the stretch last year, 42.2 IP, 31 H, 8BB, 31 K, 1.69 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and .201 BAA post All-Star break last year on a team that was choking away a HUGE lead in the division. I really don't see how anyone could bring up pressure as being an issue with McCarthy joining the rotation when the Sox likely don't make the playoffs last year without him stepping it up in the final month and a half of the season.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) I'll eat my hat if Sweeney starts in LF before the Twins clinch the Wild Card. The last time someone made this exact promise I was left very disappointed.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) For the 100th time, good posters don't participate in game threads anymore. This has got to be a really tough time for the kid, in a way I feel for him.
  18. I'd like for one of the people who are continually apalled by the "fire Ozzie" comments to please attempt to defend Ozzie's misuse of Mackowiak in CF and his overuse of Pods in LF.
  19. At the beginning of this season or perhaps even during last season, I compared Ozzie Guillen to Dusty Baker in the way they handle young talent, I was met reather unpolitely by a few posters on here. I do believe Ozzie has proven himself to be a HORRIBLE manager of young players, I'm currently waiting for my f***ing apologies.
  20. Pods - Mack - Dye Crede - Cintron - Iguchi - Konerko Pierzynski Thome I'm going to call this one as a loss right now.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) If Riefert doesn't post them...sometimes Chicago Radio stations will read them...if not, you can just open MLB's gameday and wait. The PFB is about to come on with the Sox pregame show in just a minute so we should have the lineups shortly.
  22. In a three-way deal; the Oakland Athletics traded Carlos Pena, Franklyn German and a player to be named later (Jeremy Bonderman - Aug 22nd) to the Detroit Tigers, the Tigers traded Jeff Weaver to the New York Yankees, the Yankees traded Ted Lilly, Jason Arnold and John-Ford Griffin to the Athletics. Bonderman was taken 26th overall in 2001 by the Oakland Athletics.
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) Think about it rc, people think these wallpapers are curses... How much can it matter to a guy hitting .230? It had bothered me too... So, I revamped it slightly. Check out the 1024x768 guys! Well, he's been one of the most reliable hitters on the team over the past 2.5 months and is the most important defensive player on the team but hey, he's only hitting .230.
