  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) It's not fun AT ALL, Dan would agree with me and you on that one. However fun bad is way different, it's not fun, but it's just so bad that you can't explain it and you in a sense can't even get mad at it anymore. That's fun bad, and is also where this team is at right now IMO. Actually I see fun bad as being more like the Cubs right now, runs are scored horrible defense is played and they find a new way to lose every night. The Sox don't score any runs, they don't make horrific defensive or baserunning mistakes all that often and they basically lose one of 2 ways each night. I mean I love "fun bad" as much as the next guy but it's just not fun at all to watch this team and in order to qualify as "fun bad" the product on the field must be fun to watch in a sadistic sort of way.
  2. There ain't a damn thing fun about any of this and I gaurantee Dan Bernstein would agree with me.
  3. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) I would be shocked and happy to see him hit .240. That would mean a great improvement. I rag on Anderson a lot, not because I don't think he's a great talent. I certainly think he is. But this is a team built to make a run at consecutive championships and the gamble that he could carry his weight in the lineup was a total bust. In the early stages it looked like his AB's would be negated by the sluggers in the lineup, but May is long gone and when we've needed someone who's a legitimate threat to get on base, move runners along and just have quality at bats, Brian hasn't done his job. People b**** that ozzie should play him more when I'm surprised he's received as much playing time as he has. A move at the deadline to bring in a replacement was sorely needed, IMO. QUOTE(irishsoxer @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) Anderson will not be a Sox within 2 years -book it. He has had ample opps to prove himself -come on all you man crushers, he just doesnt have what it takes. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Why don't we just let Anderson and McCarthy take the field every day considering the man crushes so many Sox fans on this board have for both. Play 2 against 9. It's fun that you people can continue to speak in absolutes with absolutely no evidence to back it up. How about instead of using "man crush" over and over you give me some legit statistical proof to back up your claims? No, you can't do that because it's not possible. So the Sox need someone to get onbase???? Anderson is not capable of doing this huh? Over the past 3 months here are the OBPs for a select few players: Iguchi: .353 Uribe: .289 Crede: .329 Podsednik: .309 Pierzynski: .306 Anderson: .338 Yes, Anderson is far and large the worst hitter in the Sox lineup at getting on base, of course the stats don't back this up but hey what the f*** does that matter.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) How can you hate the one guy who brought us a world championship. I love the guy. He is the best manager in baseball bar none and the best in Chicago history. He brought us a title. I'm glad he's not sold on Anderson. I can't believe how much people on the Internet love a .240 hitter. Wow he's hit .300 since the break. Great. He's a .240 hitter. What did Oz say that was so bad. The guy has to prove he's an everyday player. And Juan Pierre sucks! DEAR GOD WHO GIVES A s*** WHAT HIS BATTING AVERAGE CURRENTLY IS! Honestly if you can't look past a guys batting average for the season and break it down in a more useful way, then you must be just completely baseball retarded. For 3 months now he's been a very good hitter, for 2 months he was horrid. Sounds an awful lot like Garland. He may not proven he's an everyday player but damn to keep bringing up his batting average for the season like it means something is just stupid.
  5. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) Why would you want to hear Ozzie issue challenges to either for next year if it's most likely that neither will be on the team next year??? Am I missing the part where Ozzie dissed Brian's mom? And for the record, I like Anderson and am very glad to see him finally picking it up with the bat. His glove has been outstanding. I want to see him start almost every game now too. But you're being ridiculous if you can't admit that he was atrocious at the plate for the first half, looked lost, and did need to sit down at times for the benefit of the team and himself. Unfortunately, the only guy available was Mackowiak. Now Ozzie seems set in his ways... First half? No. First 2 months and 11 days of the season? Yes.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) And I shall smite thee! seriously Kalapse, he's hitting .230 And I would remind you that in June when there was talk of sending Anderson down who made the decision to stick with him? Who gave him the vote of confidence? Oswaldo Guillen. And if you guys would set aside your man love for Brian and read between the lines just a bit you'd see that this all got started with Anderson's "luke warm" reception to the idea of playing winter ball. That prompted Guillen to remind he's young five (so I'm told) tooled player that playing time in the bigs is earned. You guys act as if Ozzie was just talking off the top of his head and decided to call out Anderson for no reason. Who would have been the starting CF had Anderson been sent down? Rob Mackowiak, even Ozzie knows Mackowiak would have killed this team if he would have played every damn day for a month, he was totally bluffing about sending Anderson down. And the funniest thing about that is, who was it that was even talking about sending him down? It was Ozzie. So Ozzie first threatens to have him send down then says that Anderson will be staying but needs to play better and now that Anderson is playing well Ozzie gets credit for sticking up for Brian when no one else did. What a crock. This isn't even about Ozzie not gauranteeing him a starting job, that's all fine and well, I don't think anyone really should be gauranteed a job. It's more about this constant criticism of Anderson from Ozzie, it makes no sense and comes out at the oddest times, Oz has much bigger fish to fry and yet he continues to talk about Anderson like he's playing like Scott Podsednik. He says Anderson needs to get better offensively when in actuality Anderson has been one of the best hitters on this team since the break, perhaps Ozzie could better spend his time trying to light a fire under the asses of the players who are playing at a much lower level than Anderson who are getting twice the playing time he is. And since when does a player have to be either a speed or power guy? Why the hell can't he do both? I really don't understand that s***, he want's Anderson to play in Venezuela over the winter and decide if he's going to be a top of the lineup type player or a power hitter? Why can't he just hit with power while mixing in some of his speed as well? Tell me what do these players have in common? Bobby Abreu, Carlos Beltra, Vlad Guerrero, Alfonso Soriano, Barry Bonds, Steve Finley, Reggie Sanders, Sammy Sosa, Ray Lankford, Raul Mondesi, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Craig Biggio, Johnny Damon, Mike Cameron, Magglio Ordonez, Ken Griffey Jr., Grady Sizemore, Carl Crawford, Jose Reyes, Shawn Green, Jose Canseco, Ricky Henderson, Bo Jackson, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Ray Durham, Derek Lee, Brian Jordan, Eric Davis, Darryl Strawberry, Ron Gant, Devon White, Roberto Alomar, Andruw Jones, Darin Erstad, Torii Hunter, Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, Al Martin, Ellis Burks, Dante Bichette, Carl Everett, Cliff Floyd, Chipper Jones, Derek Bell, Andre Dawson, Robin Yount, Joe Carter, Dave Parker, Howard Johnson, Ryne Sandberg, Andy Van Slyke.
  7. Has there ever been a more confusing, infuriating and just miserable season than this one? Seriously, there's so many god damn questions that will never be answered and just so much s*** that has cost this team games that could have been avoided. UGH!
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) sounds spot on to me. Why the f*** should Anderson be guaranteed anything? He's dead weight in the order and Ozzie's putting him on notice and doing it with confidence in his ability. Poor Brian. Ozzie's picking on him. Boo f***ing hoo. How the f*** is Brian Anderson dead weight? And so help me if you say his batting average is .230 I will strike you down good sir. This guy has a near .800 OPS over the past 3 months, which is pretty f***ing awesome if you ask me. Instead of focusing his anger on the one good young position player the white sox have perhaps Ozzie could let Podsednik, Garcia, Uribe or any of the other underachieving, s***ty assclowns on this team know that they need to pick the s*** up. It's so f***ing ironic that if Ozzie Guillen the manger managed Ozzie Guillen the player, he would have been out of the f***ing league 3 years into this career. Ozzie Guillen = Dusty Baker when it comes to young talent, I said it last year, I said it at the beginning of this year and I'm saying it again now. What a f***ing joke this guy has become.
  9. Wait, since when is Paul Konerko the team MVP?
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) I'm actually encouraged. I know, that's nuts. But the hitting will snap out of it, to me that's a given and I think it will happen in short order. Have you ever seen a team look like it had heart and hustle when it's slumping? The pitching is starting to shine. And if Count turns it around then I'll feel even better heading down the stretch. The way Javy pitched tonight and Jon last night should give us hope. Pitching > hitting Pitching wins championships. The Chicago White Sox last August/September.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Thanks for the personal attack. You've really been missed. Do you really think this is an awful post? You really don't think this team has quit? They're just playing bad baseball right now, they'll pick it up soon, all they need is for Podsednik to go on a tear which he will afterall he was the MVP of the World champs last year. This team is still 20 or so games over .500 and still has not hit their stride, just wait until they start playing their best baseball LOOK OUT AMERICAN LEAGUE!!!!!11111111
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) I hope you are right about that rotation, but somehow, I doubt we get rid of Garcia, thanks to the Ozzie connection. Vazquez maybe. Honestly, I'd rather keep Vazquez around than Garcia - Vaz at least looks like he is trying out there, and doesn't blame the offense for his struggles. Garcia is 110% GONE! He is done, he will never pitch another inning in a White Sox uniform after this season, that's what happens when you suckass at your job but run your mouth and insult your coworkers. Vazquez on the other hand is KW's baby, he will and should be here next year for sure.
  13. QUOTE(UC76 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Maybe when he's a starter again we will see all the greatness we were promised. I hope so. Promised and saw at the end of last year, he was the best the Sox had for the final month, I'd say that's more of an indication of what he's capable of than what he's done out of the pen this year. How did Johan Santana fair out of the bullpen his first time around in that role? 62 IP, 67 H, 7 HR, 40BB:50K, 5.37 ERA. Not very impressive.

    Premiere Time!

QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) Nip/Tuck! ^^^^^ QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Well I think House starts today which should be good, but nothing will be quite like Lost. ^^^^^ Other than that though, there's not much else comming up that I'm interested in.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) The point is to learn, not just from failure. How many people learn from their success? It worked last year, why change? Because this is a TOTALLY different team, perhaps some of the things he did last year worked for that team and are not working for this team because they do not play baseball the same way this year as they did last year, he also has a different cast of characters to work with this year. He has to learn how to taylor to his team's needs and not be so god damn stubborn. What was his reasoning for continuing to use Mackowiak in centerfield even though it's costing the team runs and games? He's been doing it all year, why would he stop platooning Mack now? What the hell kind of logic is that? it didn't work early in the year, it didn't work midway through the year and it's not working now, instead of being stubborn and refusing to change his line of thought on the subject perhaps he could learn from this mistake he has made and stop putting corner OF in CF. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:02 AM) If by panicing, you mean put a consistent lineup out there for the next four weeks, then by all means, panic. It's time to pick your horses and let them run. Ozzie said himself that if he started playing Anderson everyday and did not put Mackowiak out there 1-2 times a series that it would be a sign of panicing. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a Mackowiak/Anderson platoon for the rest of the season, he wouldn't want his team to begin panicing when they see Brian Anderson in CF everyday.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) Fair enough, but I don't recall many "Ozzie is a piss poor manager" threads last October. Results cover any blemishes, is all I'm saying. That's why I'm not jumping all over Ozzie this year - because whatever he was doing worked, or appeared to work, and he's the same guy, doing the same things, as he was last year. I'm holding the players responsible for the poorer results this year, just as I praised the players for the results last year. It just seems wrong to me to piss on Ozzie for the rotation sucking, the offense sh!tting its pants more often than not, and the bullpen not getting the job done (except for Jenks, Thornton and MacDougal). Sure, there are things I'd like to see him do (such as forgetting that Cotts and Riske are on the team), but the players are the ones not getting it done lately. I'm not blaiming Ozzie in full for this team's suckiness, I will however get all over him for the dumb s*** he does over and over even though it NEVER works and only puts his team and players in a position to fail. So in conclusion, not ALL his fault, not even the majority his fault but he hasn't exactly helped his case with the s*** he's been pulling this year. Also, last year was last year this is a whole new season, he's not getting a free pass to f*** with this team just because the team he managed won the World Series last year.
  17. Yeah there was like a 5 minute shower in Streamwood, it was quite the inconvenience.
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Exactly my point. The Ozzie anger is misdirected in my opinion. He's the same manager he was last year. And last year I felt he was a piss poor manager as well. The man has some serious flaws when it comes to his managerial techniques but the worst part is he's far too stubborn to ever learn from his mistakes.
  19. MacDougal and Thornton were lights out for 2 innings tonight, are they good now?
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) Maybe a vocal minority around here think's Ozzie sucks, but I don't. The Sox pitching and inconsistent hitting that's far too dependent on the HR has gotten the sox to this point [which isn't too bad, in line for the wild card]. He may not be the best in game manager. And some of his moves have been questionable. But it's the players performance or lack thereof more than Ozzie's moves that will decide if the sox make the playoffs. There's one simple fix to imediately help out the starting pitching and no it is not Brandon McCarthy, it's called putting your best defensive team on the field at all times. An outfield of Scott Podsednik, Rob Mackowiak and Jermaine Dye is not going to help the pitching one bit. Rob Mackowiak in LF, Anderson and Dye is an outfield that is going to limit their mistakes and help prevent runs from scoring. Kenny Williams basically said it himself on the Score, the best defensive team needs to be put on the field at all times especially when your best defensive player is also one of your best offensive players over the past 3 months. If your starting pitching is going to suck then help them out by putting a halfway passable defensive team on the field. The job of a manager is to put your players in the best position to succeed day in and day out and from what I and many many others have seen this year Ozzie Guillen has not done this.
  21. I don't know why but this really shocked me when I read it, you figure it would happen eventually but when it finally does it's just hard to believe.
  22. Since June 11th: Player 1: .290 BA | .344 OBP | .793 OPS | 27 R | 17 2B | 3 HR | 20 RBI :: 49 GS Player 2: .260 BA | .310 OBP | .651 OPS | 39 R | 13 2B | 2 HR | 25 RBI :: 56 GS Player 3: .235 BA | .307 OBP | .678 OPS | 33 R | 14 2B | 5 HR | 24 RBI :: 56 GS Interesting huh?
  23. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) As far as Mack in cf ... he obviously thinks BA is not ready for everyday duty and despite the love of BA on here the guy is hitting .233 with 32 rbis and 43 runs scored in 300 at bats. He does not deserve to be an everyday player right now. Who is the backup? The roster says it's mack. I agree he's horrible; I don't blame Oz. I blame the moving of Rowand. We shoulda found another way to get Thome. BA wasn't ready for prime time and yes I realize he's hitting .300 or whatever it is the last couple months. Well I'd say I've seen probably only 20 games the whole way through. Saw em play live in KC a couple times also. Parts of other games. I am not some moron. I know my team, have followed the Sox for many many years. I may disagree with you but I think I am well informed fan. If he's hitting 300+ over the past nearly 3 months then how is he not an everyday player? That's nearly half a season of well above average offensive production from a rookie who is also one of the best defensively at his position. How is it that Podsednik can hit .250 for the year and he has to be an everyday player but Anderson hits 15 points lower and must be benched?
  24. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) OK you say Pods shoulda been benched in May. That means you think Ozuna and Mack are better options. I don't. Neither of those guys are better than Pods. No way. They're playing better than him this season. Scott Podsednik has proven that he is not a major league baseball player. Leadoff hitters in the big leagues do not hit .259 with .330 OBP and play s*** defense, what exactly does Podsednik do better than either of Mack or Pablo. Also how do you defend Guillen's excessive use of Mackowiak in CF despite the fact that Mackowiak said himself that he is not a major league caliber CF?
  25. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Ozzie makes the line ups, and puts in whomever he feels, it solely falls on him. Rob Mackowiak should never see CF again, and Scott Podsednik should've been benched after May, these are Ozzies calls not the players. Not to mention the fact that both Sandy Alomar and Matt Thornton would both we acquired due to a direct request from the coaching staff, if Ozzie feels he needs something for his team, KW has proven that he will go out and get the guy that Ozzie and his coaching staff feel to be the best fit for the team.
