  1. I really don't think the Derby is responsible for Abreu's sudden loss of power, Konerko possibly but Abreu I doubt. The guy hit 6 HRs post AS break last year and has 8 thus far this season, that's only 14 HRs over 151 games. Blaming the HR Derby for his loss of power would be like blaiming the tipping of pitches for every sucky Buehrle outing. At some point you have to look to other factors because the one you're using as your scape-goat just doesn't make sense anymore.
  2. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) I voted with the example email addy a number of times and now it won't let me even look at the ballot anymore. It was probably the age you put in, empty your cache and your temp folders and try again with an older birthday.
  3. QUOTE(G&T @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Well I think Stone's point was that the Braves need to dump salary, so talent wise it would only take Anderson and a pitching prospect, but Jones is due $13.5 Million according to ESPN this year. That means KW would have to pick up a large tab. He did not say these things specifically, but he did mention that the Braves need money to get bullpen help so I assume Jones would be a god place to free up the cash. There are some serious barriers in the way when talking about a possible acquisition involving Andruw Jones, he's makes $13M this year which would be pro-rated of course and then $13.5M next year, free agent after that. #1 problem I see here is of course his agent, non other than Scott Boras.
  4. If you've already voted 25 times it won't let you vote with that email address anymore, simply put in a fake email addy and you should be golden. EDIT: Actually I don't think there is an email restriction, check the birthday you put in, if it's too young it won't let you vote.
  5. MAX POWER! He's the man whose name you'd love to touch . . . But, you musn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear but when you say it, you mustn't fear, because his name can be said by anyone!
  6. I still love Jeff Brantley's reasoning for Nomar being an All-Star, he said that Garciaparra brings versatility, he can play 1B, SS or LF. If Nomar ends up making the team and Garner plays him at SS, Grady Little will kill him.

    Dougly Returns

Well, this thread is completely ruined.

    Dougly Returns

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Alot of us have missed you Doug (aim chatters, the "original" game chat people, late night crew etc..) I missed looking at the stud you are though... Hubba, hubba... MinnySoxFan is not Dougly.
  9. AJ is far and away my favorite player on this team, I'll be damned if I'm just gonna sit back and watch some other f***ers kick the s*** out of him in this final vote. AJ deserves this s*** for being AJ, the White Sox fans owes it to him, has there ever been a player who came to the Sox and endeared himself to the fanbase quicker than AJ? He has been nothing but great for the Sox on and off the field since comming here last offseason, that guy loves this fanbase and these fans need to show that they feel the same way.
  10. Ouch, that commercial does not look too good right now, Bonds, Giambi, Chavez, Delgado, Chipper . . . What were they thinking putting Bonds on there in the first place?
  11. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) not fair at all! That would probably go down as being one of the top 5 offensive lineups of all time. He is good defensively as well. There is no way Atlanta trades him, unless Bobby Cox really wants to rebuild? At his age I doubt that. Chipper and Andruw Jones are Atlanta lifers. Yeah, Jones is pretty good defensively, he's only the best defensive OF playing right now, the second best of last 15 years (behind Griffey) and one of the best of all-time. I love Andruw Jones, absolutely one of my favorites players ever but I just don't see it happening. Brian Anderson and young pitching but BMac not being that young pitching? That makes no sense what the hell would they want? Liotta? Lumsy? Broadway? f*** I'd absolutely do that in a heartbeat, I don't think Steve Stone was entirely thinking this one through when he threw it out there.
  12. QUOTE(2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) my dad swears up and down that he heard someone on ESPN say that JD is going to be in the home-run derby, is there any truth to this...I wouldnt mind seeing him in it but not when theres a guy on your team that has what 7 more homers in Jim Thome...how many people are gonna be in it this year. Thome already said he will not compete in the Home Run derby even if he is asked to compete. I'm wondering one thing, with all the people up in arms over the selection of Buehrle has anyone mentioned the slection of Matt Clement by Terry Francona last season? He had a 3.85 ERA at the break.
  13. After the Sox come back and win this game, someone is going to say that Buehrle kept us in the game and gave the team a chance to win. I want that person banned immediately.
  14. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) for some reason even though were down by 5, it doesn't look that bad to me man are we spoiled Maybe it's because Zambrano has the ability to just fly off the handle and start hanging pitches at the drop of hat. Especially against the Sox.
  15. The tipping of pitches can no longer be used as an excuse, if he's tipping them that often then guess what, that's just he way he pitches. I still don't think those runs should have been unearned in Minny, that would put his ERA at 4.39 which is a lot more realistic of an indicator of how he's pitched this season.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) BULLs***. How many f***ing times is Mark going to "tip his pitches"? I'm sick of the f***ed up excuses on MB when he s***s himself. Man the f*** up and say "I sucked today" instead of some "I was tipping my pitches" bulls***. This ain't high school anymore. Could not agree more.
  17. Mark's ERA is now 3.75 and his Run Average (unearned runs included) is 4.39.
  18. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) It's not worse than that Oakland outing a couple years ago The Minny outing, there weren't hardly any earned runs because of some errors Because of an error that Mark committed himself.
  19. Anyway, I'll be out all day and probably night too so I'll miss all the fun with the Selection Show this year so I expect someone to hold me to this. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) Thats fair, I just cant believe that we have the best 3-4-5 in the league, and NONE of them go. I could see the 4 of them going. Well, out of the 3-4-5 Dye will be going, for whatever reaon he slipped my mind. There's just such a clusterf*** at 1B/DH this year that I don't see either of Thome or Konerko getting in despite the fact that they totally deserve it. I'll be more upset if Ryan Howard doesn't get in though, I see his youth totally f***ing him here and Garner going with a more seasoned 1B over him.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) There sarcasm there or are you serious? Actually add Dye to that, I really think Ozzie will take Buehrle, Contreras and Dye are pretty much locks and Guillen will also get the fat man in there. I see Thome and Ryan Howard as super snubs this year. Contreras, Dye, Buehrle and Jenks.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) To Rogers' defense, he did write this about a month and a half ago, when Dempster still hadn't blown a save and Bobby was still gaining velocity and was less than dominating. I'm pretty sure that if he made his All-city team today, Bobby would be a no-brainer. This is exactly right, at the time the piece was written Dempster was the better closer. Don't let the facts get in the way guys.
  22. Contreras, Buehrle and Jenks. That's all we're gonna get this year, just a hunch.
  23. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) What the f*** does beleaguered mean? How dare you question my vernacular. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Mentally damaged, drained, suffering, injured, ect.. There ya go.
  24. Most Sox fans got their tickets from beleaguered Cubs fans who couldn't stand to watch that pathetic team.

    Anderson

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Well when you're hitting .170 you should expect criticism. Also, if we aren't allowed to say anything about the guy, who by the way is above criticism in the eyes of many around here, why don't we just close down the site and put up a message that the White Sox are great and there's no reason to even talk about it. I have a problem when all people do is complain but when people call what they see and want to discuss it, what's the big deal? I have no problem with criticism of any player but when you single out Anderson because he's hitting .170 I have a serious problem with that. People are totally ignoring what the guy has done recently: .250 BA | .425 SLG% | 1 HR | 6 RBI | 7 R | 5 2B | over last 12 You want him gone because he can't get a bunt down and is batting .170 well guess what he's not going to have a very good batting average by the end of the year, that's just the way it works when you start the year as s***ty as he did, he could hit .250 for the rest of the year which would be awesome and his BA will still look like s***. I have no problem with warranted criticism but this IMO is just ridiculous.
