  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Anyone remember that Contreras started today? Or how about that Papelbon actually allowed a run on the road? Blowing his third save and allowing his second HR of the season. His ERA jumped from .41 to .59.
  2. Brandon McCarthy is probably the second best starting pitcher on this team.
  3. An epic debut was made today . . .
  4. Horray for the Rally Seizure.
  5. Rally Seizure is the s***.
  6. Maybe the Sox can flip Garland to the Cubs for Wood, I'd like to see Coop try to work his magic with Kid K, we could have an Ace for our staff right there.
  7. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) I don't think he's hurt. None of this year's medical testing has shown that he's hurt. I think Prior doesn't want to pitch for the Cubs and be abused by Dusty, hence why I believe he'd benefit from a trade. If that's the case then I don't want him anywhere near the Sox. He doesn't particularly like his coach so he's faking injuries and throwing games? That's just dispicable.
  8. I still don't understand how Coop is going to magically heal Prior.
  9. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) And even at 91-92 he'd still be a better pitcher than Garcia. He's proving otherwise right now.
  10. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Good point, but Prior's decrease in velocity has to do with recovering from injury while Freddy's loss has to do with either A) loss in ability, or B ) stopped taking performance enhancers. Whether it's reason A or B, Prior is much more likely to recover his velocity and if not, still be the better pitcher of the two. So what is this "injury" that Prior had? His elbow suddenly gives out on him for no apparent reason and this doesn't bother you?
  11. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) By pitching better than Freddy G, Vazquez and Garland. 1.) He's been horrid when healthy this year. 2.) Those 3 may have sucked this year but to say that another pitcher can be more productive while on the DL than the bottom of the Sox rotation when they're healty is just cruel.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Since June 11th, he's got a .264/.339/.434 line. This is true, I would say a .773 OPS is pretty damn respectable.
  13. How exactly would Mark Prior help the Sox win this year?
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Or we can have Stew for relatively nothing for the next couple years. He doesn't have the same mistique as Olivo. Miguel was already the s*** before he was dealt for Garcia, now he's a legend.
  15. The greatest thing The Dugout has ever put out there, mainly because they agree with me. Up yours Sleepy.
  16. It looked good off the bat and the Mariners' announcers seemed excited.
  17. The ball is caught at the wall in LF and the Tigers are now up 3 games.
  18. Jones looks like he's gonna close this thing out no problem.
  19. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Even if the light never flips for Olivo, and he has to receive his signs from the dugout, his .291 average and cannon throwing arm is still a better alternative than Chris Widger. Did you mean his .229 average? Because that's what he's put up in his career when facing real oponents in the AL. All he's proven this season with his .291 average is that he can hit AAAA talent.
  20. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Calling a game is something that can be learned, unlike other facets of the game. So you want to acquire a catcher and have him learn on the job? How does that help at all? You're better off just sticking with the veteran catcher who has shown a history of being a pretty damn good backup catcher. Also, Olivo has been in the bigs for 5 years now + 8 years in the minors, that's 13 seasons of pro ball and he still can't call a game to save his life, if he can't learn what pitches to call over 13 seasons I don't think the light is suddenly going to flip on for him now.
  21. You think Widger calls a s*** game, Olivo is considered one of the worst in baseball at putting down the fingers.
  22. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Oh s***, he's on fire! Well seeing how he hit .161 in April, .167 in May and .196 in June i'd say him hitting .260+ over a month's time is pretty f***ing good, you sarcastic bastard.
  23. QUOTE(ViperPilot @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) I'm not talking down to anyone here, guys......geez......I didn't realize CWS fans were so sensitive.....after lurking on these boards for several months, and watching how some of you guys talk back and forth, especially some of the game day threads, I figured some good natured ribbing wouldn't have such a reaction......I am the last guy to come in and bash another team....being a Tigers fan, I can hardly say we've had the right over the last few decades.....I was just throwing a little crap around in good fun.....I really can't believe you guys would be so sensitive.........where I come from, when you show that you can't take a little crap thrown your way, it only invites more........hell, I hope we can continue this back and forth the rest of the year....pushing each other all the way through Sept...because I'd like nothing more than for the CWS AND the Tigers to make the playoffs......I'd love to make some popcorn, grab a beer (or 10) and watch Steinbrenner blow his top after he doesn't make the playoffs..... Again, maybe you all misinterpreted my intentions with the posts....or maybe it was I who misinterpreted the toughness of the hide of White Sox fans....I hope it's the former rather than the later..... It's not always so easy to interpret someone's intentions when it's their first post on the board. There's nothing at all wrong with some good natured ribbing between fans of rival teams. It would not be the first time a fan of another team has registered here for the sole purpose of ripping on the Sox. As long as your intentions are good, there shouldn't be a problem.
  24. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) http://www.myspace.com/jongarland1024 cant decide on this one. and the BA one is sweet. Not a chance.
