Andruw Jones
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) He doesn't play against many righties. Yeah, that's not true at all . . . He has more ABs this year Vs righties than lefties. He's hitting .202 vs pitchers who throw with their right hand and .167 vs those who use their left.

Just for the record, Brian Anderson is now hitting .264 since June 11th.

I have had enough with Chris Widger
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:23 AM) Gotcha. Do you know what his cera was from last year? Like I said before, I find it really hard to believe that all of the sudden he just forgot how to call a game. I can't remember off hand but I'm pretty sure it was lower than Pierzynski's, the roles have reversed this year and it makes no absolutely sense.

I have had enough with Chris Widger
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) It's interesting, because iirc his cera last year was pretty solid and that doesn't seem to be something you would just all the sudden get much worse at over the course of a year. That being said, it also can't be a coincidence that all of our pitchers have pitched worse with him behind the plate. Actually I'm pretty sure Garcia is better when Widger catches him.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
This is a list of all the leadoff hitters in baseball, the ones who are better than Scotty Pods are in bold. BAL - Brian Roberts BOS - Kevin Youkilis/Covelli Crisp NYY - Johnny Damon TB - Julio Lugo TOR - Reed Johnson/Alex Rios CLE - Grady Sizemore DET - Curtis Granderson KC - David Dejesus MIN - Shannon Stewart/Luis Castillo LAA - Chone Figgins OAK - Mark Kotsay/Mark Ellis SEA - Ichiro Suzuki TEX - Gary Mathews Jr. ATL - Marcus Giles FLA - Hanley Ramirez NYM - Jose Reyes PHI - Jimmy Rollins WAS - Alfonso Soriano CHC - Juan Pierre CIN - Ryan Freel HOU - Craig Biggio MIL - Ricky Weeks PIT - Jose Bautista (I really don't know) STL - David Eckstein ARZ - Craig Counsell LAD - Rafeal Furcal SD - Dave Roberts SF - Randy Winn So there's like 3 or 4 teams in baseball who have a worse leadoff hitter than the White Sox. (and yes I do give a damn about defense)

Red Sox @ White Sox - July 8
I'm just wondering if anyone can answer this question honestly for me, what exactly does Scott Podsednik do that is above average? From what I can tell he doesn't have a single tool that can be considered excellent.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) Fish u nicca. EDIT: I also find it histerical that you diss the Widge and he is so-called your favorite player on the sox. He is da man. No one can touch him. I diss him because he sucks, when have I ever said he's my favorite player? He forces Buehrle to miss his spots and roll his s***ty curveball why the f*** should I like this Widger character?

I have had enough with Chris Widger
He's only making $650K this year so an outright release would not be much of a hit financially at all. I really don't see any reason to keep him around.

Happy Birthday Brandon McCarthy
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Too bad for B-Mac, day game after a night game otherwise he and Anderson would be hitting up clubs all night. Well, he went 2 today so he won't be available to pitch tomorrow . . .

Official Game Thread 7/7 - Sawx vs Sox 7:35
QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) Right. But here is the thing with that game. Jon Gibbons (BJ manager) pannicked and put Ryan out there in the 8th. Ryan ended up working 2 full innings. Ryan mowed down 4 guys, I remember seeing the look on AJ's face after he K'd, he said he just didn't know how to hit the guy. With Ryan's style of pitching, he eventually is going to tire, especially for two innings of work. I was not surprised when the White Sox tied the game. It was obvious Ryan was really tired. But, if you are down by 2 runs in the top of the 9th against Ryan who is fresh coming out of the bullpen - do you feel that confident? Same argument applies to Papelbon, I will be really surprised this evening if he gives up a run. But to each their own. Do you ever feel "real" confident going up against any closer with a sub 1 ERA?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) How many DP's for Konerko now? He's had quite a few recently. 14 on the season, the next closest is Dye at 7, Thome has only grounded into 2.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I'll take your word for it, but the White Sox have not encountered a closer of Papelbon's caliber this season. BTW pardon me, I didn't get the memo re "the sox" The Sox already faced BJ Ryan, who is every bit as good as Papelbon and they got a run off him, so yeah, they have.

David Ortiz doesn't even have a 1.000 OPS this season. He's not a GREAT power hitter.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Have we thrown anyone out at home this year? I can't remember one. I don't know about home but JD has 4 OF assists, Anderson 3 and Pods 2.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) well i went to whitesox.com and they said CURRENT MONTH:.267. That's for THIS month as in July, so it would only include 5 games. Over the past month, as in 30 days ago, he's hitting around .260. A mix up in the terminology. Thome is god.
