QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ May 27, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Nelson got away with one to Glaus. He walked a guy in this inning. He grooved one to Hllenbrand. Anyway, I hope he gets better with some work. Why, oh why, were we in the 11th inning of a game and still had not used our 2 best relief pitchers? Centerfielders to keep an eye on: Steve Finley, Darin Erstad, Juan Pierre OMG are you serious? Steve Finley is just about done, Darin Erstad is a horrible offensive player and Juan Pierre is just a pathetic ball player in general. Oh yes, Erstad is also constantly hurt, like right now.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 27, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) What he do now? Playing very poor defense in CF in a starting role for the Bo Sox.

Willie Harris is not very good in CF.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 27, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Jim Thome wouldn't choke on cake. Frank Thomas is washed up, his cake eating ability is completely diminished, now all he does is choke on it. Thome on the other hand is completely out producing Frank in every cake eating category. Maybe the big skirt should drink a little milk with his cake it helped Barry Bonds prolong his career

I hope he chokes on his birthday cake. *insert sandy vagina reference here*

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 27, 2006 -> 03:03 AM) He should get the points. You should stay out of it mr. quitter.

QUOTE(rangercal @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Because the angels produce relivers like the Broncos produce running backs. They will just re-load at that position. I'm sure they have a high opinion of garland after that complete game in the alcs. Not a good comparison. We are lacking in bullpen depth. If bullpen was a strength, maybe it would be a possibilty. Angels Pen: Shields - .99 ERA K-Rod - 3.98 Carrasco - 4.00 Gregg - 4.30 Donnelly - 4.35 Yan - 6.85 Romero - 8.31 Bulger - 16.20 Wow, that's pretty sick. Relief pitching is incredibly inconsistent from year to year unless your name is Shields or a few other guys. They lose Shields, their bullpen falls to one of the worst in the AL. Also one start does not a good pitcher make. Just because Garland had a good start in the ALCS does not mean the Angels will destroy their pen to pick up a career 105 ERA+ (average is 100) starting pitcher.

QUOTE(rangercal @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) you can never have enough starting pitching. I can see a deal. It makes no sense, if wants to head out to the west coast so badly why would he include a no trade clause for the first year in his contract? Also, why would the Angels trade their best reliever (K-Rod aside) for an average starter who is sucking this season? Should the Sox trade Cotts for Josh Towers? You can never have enough pitching. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) you can never have enough starting pitching. I can see a deal. That's another idea. I may be mistaken, but I am pretty sure he is close to the end of his arb. years. Sadly, his final year of arbitration will be in '09 so the Pirates probably will not deal him anytime soon.
-
I really do love me some Mike Gonzalez though, oh what I would give to see him in the Sox' pen this year. The guy is a lefty and just makes hitters look absolutely silly. We need to pry him away from the lowly Pirates before another contender does. Career 2.43 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, .209 BAA | 2.21 ERA this year as well.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Theoritically, he could, but Kalapse is right: Garland got a no-trade clause because he wanted to be in Chicago. And to add to that, why would he want to leave the 2nd best team in baseaball to play for a team who is "not setting the world on fire" in the weakest division in the AL?
-
Garland has a no trade clause for this season. There's a reason why he included it in his new contract, he's not going anywhere this season. Also, why would the Angels trade their stud reliever to the Sox for an average starting pitcher whom is currently struggling while making $10M a year? Doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

QUOTE(T R U @ May 26, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) No one should get points for Soxtalk recruits Totally agree, not much work being put into bringing them over.

QUOTE(daa84 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) im not so sure why people want to say pods is so bad in center....he was 3rd in the NL in ZR and 4th in RF in both 03 and 04...that said having not played there in 2 years, i dont think its a good idea, but i havent seen enough of him to say that those ZR and RF are misleading...and i doubt people on here have either Stats lie, the best way to judge him would be to watch Brewer games which is something I did frequently.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) My main problem with it is the time it would take for him to readjust. Now that he's had plenty of reps in left he reads the ball off the bat fairly well. I don't see him having a problem with center. Except he would take bad routes for too many games. He was mediocre in Milwaukee in CF, his closing speed is the only thing keeping him from being pathetic.
-
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) If Anderson continues to struggle and Fields makes the adjustment to playing in left in Charlotte, maybe we'll see Fields in left and Pods in center before the year is out. Defense is overrated anyway.

QUOTE(Felix @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) I was looking for this thread a little while back. Nice to see it back Nice new sig as well Speaking of which.. Where did you get the high resolution headshots? From a website that no longer exists and the ones that I did save were destroyed when my HD was wiped. Sucks big time.

The original captain cheesburger, David Wells just took a line drive off his right knee. He hit the ground in agony and was then helpe off the field. The Boston announcers were speculating that this could be the end of his career, simply because of age and the looks of the injury.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 26, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Just shows the value of Mr. Don Cooper. How many other organisations would seriously love to have Coop as their pitching coach right now? Dr. Don Cooper, get it right.

Cleveland has the most pathetic pitching, this team isn't going anywhere until they find a way to sure up this pitching staff.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 20, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) I have to ask: what does "INAA" stand for? QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2006 -> 01:46 AM) Not positive, but I'm going to guess "IN AA" So Lance Broadway In AA Wow, I am truely offended.

Cleveland comes back to get within 1 and bamn Westbrook puts a few on for Thames. The Indians have 0 pitching.

QUOTE(tigerfan @ May 26, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) Who's Rock? A person who will surely tell you your team sucks and your city is pathetic all while calling you a b****. He's full of love.

If any of you joins the league and puts down Badger's name as the one who recruited you, I'll kill you. I am completely serious.
