2012 Films Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) CABIN IN THE WOODS is getting great reviews. Not a horror guy but maybe hard to ignore. Co-written by Joss Whedon and given the Edgar Wright stamp of approval. I am also not a horror guy but will be seeing this.

Chat Crew 2012
I checked it now and it doesn't work in Chrome -- it says I have to update Java but after I do it still doesn't work -- but it works fine in IE: just lick "run" and then "no" when prompted. I'd say a lot of people click "yes" without actually reading the prompt, I know that's what I used to do and that locks you out.

2012 MLB Catch All thread
Seeing them in action; I absolutely LOVE the new Blue Jays uniforms. Such a great, clean look and going back to the old school Logo (with the added leaf) was a great move.

Morel
5% BB rate last season; 180th out of the 203 players with at least 400 PA. AJ (4.6%) and Rios (4.7%) were somehow worse.

(Insert Celeb Here) is Dead
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) I suggest everyone take a minute or two to listen to this: I don't know how to embed a video on here, for some reason. You'd think I'd have learned to do it by now after almost 7 years. Paste your embed code and turn HTML on.

Danks and Floyd still available?
Personally I think it should at least be mentioned that John Danks has a full no trade clause for the 2012 season. Maybe it's just me.

2012 MLB Catch All thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heym...-has-gone-wrong The Braves, only team worse than the White Sox so far...theories on the carry-over effect from the end of last year and the Nationals/Marlins passing them. Poor J4L, with the Blue Jays, Royals and Braves all looking like 4th place teams, life is not fun. The Sox finished in 2nd to last place in the Cactus league in 2005 and 2008 and dead last in 2000.

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 20, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) Most definitely. It's a trash article and shouldn't be given a second thought by anyone that actually read it. You sir, are a dickhead. Maybe some people found it interesting.

Sox sign Kosuke Fukudome
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) Ok, I gotcha next time. Though I wasn't doing it to "fix" it so much as make a point. Edit: Before you kill me Kal, I was just kidding around. Regardless of the horrible things people (especially Qwerty) say about you, you're my boy.

Sox sign Kosuke Fukudome
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 01:01 AM) It was me quoting greg...and changing some stuff. Put your changes in bold next time, otherwise it's just confusing. That goes for all you jerks who "fix" posts.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 11:54 PM) ■if Viciedo has enough service time to qualify for arbitration after 2011, he may void 2012 season (if voided, club may exercise option at $3.5M) He only has 0.123 years of service as of now, of course. Where does it say somewhere in print that we control his rights all the way through 2017? Rick Hahn has confirmed it, there's no out clause in his contract, same for Alexei. Viciedo is like any other player, he has less than a year of service so he's ours for 6 more years.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) So we theoretically control Viciedo through 2017? That doesn't sound right. Well, it is.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) We have been so god damn cheap with our draft for so long, it would be nice to actually overpay for a great prospect every one and while. We are never going to turn this farm system around if we keep spending the bare minimum. The most guaranteed money ever given to a draft pick was the $15M the Nats gave Strasburg and that deal was 50% more than the 2nd all-time highest (Prior), The Cubs are rumored to be guaranteeing Soler $27.5M. That's more than overpaying, Soler is considered a top 10 pick talent but is he worth 83% ($12.5M) more than Strasburg who is A.) a pitcher and B.) was in the majors 10 months after signing (could have led to his downfall but that's highly debatable)?

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) Wait, how can 2 WAR possibly be league average? Doesn't anyone see the flaw in that? WAR measures a player's value above that of a replacement level player and a replacement level player is below average, basically equal to your standard AAAA player. So league average for a starter being 2 WAR means he's worth 2 wins more than replacement level.

Reader Columnist: Season 2 A.D. Approaching for Sox
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Wouldn't you truly have to say... Buehrle - Sale Santos - Reed Quentin - Viciedo Sale- ? If Sale replaces Buehrle, who replaces Sale? That's the argument to be made. The Sox have seemingly failed to replace their best lefty reliever though they still have the previously great Thornton and the adequate Ohman down there assuming, of course, that Thornton doesn't hold the closer's role long. I'd categorize a host of minor league free agent lefties vying for the 2nd/3rd lefty role as "air".

Reader Columnist: Season 2 A.D. Approaching for Sox
Buehrle - Sale Santos - Reed Quentin - Viciedo Air? Oddly enough our farm system actually fulfilled it's purpose this offseason. Don't know how they'll produce but we replaced those 3 players with REAL damn major league ready prospects.
