  1. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) I've been wanting to do this poll ever since I finished a fantasy draft last month. the league has 20 teams, and everyone selects their favorite or a team they like, etc. Anyways, you can only draft current and former players of that team. I got the Sox (obviously), and since Buehrle, Garland, Iguchi, Jenks, Cotts, Crede, BMac and B. Anderson have not played for any other teams, nobody could draft them but me. Then I got lucky there wasn't a Brewers, Tigers or A's team....so that made Frank, Carlos and Maggs untouchable for me as well. Here's the lineup I ended up with: C - AJ 1B - Thomer 2B - Iguchi 3B - Crede SS - Urine OF - Pods OF - Maggs OF - Lee Util - Thomas Bench - Mackoviak, Rowand SP's - Buehrle, Garland, D. Wells, El Duque, Fogg RP's - Jenks, Foulke, Cotts, Shoenweiss, Howry, Vizcaino I then turned around and traded Maggs to the Pirates for Oliver Perez (ughhhhhh!), and just accepted a trade of Melvin Mora for Garland. What do you guys think? I swept my matchup last week, mainly due to Thomer. If that was intentional it's not that funny, if unintentional, hilarious.
  2. Not including Valentin is a travesty.
  3. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) I am not going to go back and look for it but there were several discussions or articles at the time that talked about it. I think he wanted to join Ronney and Farmer in the radio booth and approached Fox about doing s*** for them. He was a mediocre ball player which gives him a certain amount of credibility to be in the booth but he destroyed that when he was GM, IMO. I am not going so far as to say "heave the Hawk". We could end up with worse. But I guess I have a longer memory than others. Typically when someone detroys a team like he did as GM, they don't make him the TV face of the team. They quietly disappear into the baseball dust heap. Rock is correct however, this really isn't worth talking about. Shiot, we are world champs, don't change any Karma now. Hawk was asked a couple times if he wanted to join Rooney and Farmer in the booth and he turned them down, he never b****ed and said that he wanted to be in the booth. He eventually caved in and joined them for a short period of time but I believe it was Farmer who was pushing for Hawk to do some of the radio broadcast not Hawk b****ing about a lack of respect or some s*** like that.
  4. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) My gut feeling is that Liriano is going to be in the rotation before the All Star break. Gardenhire wants him to get his feet wet coming in from the bullpen
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) apples and oranges man. Broadway was drafted last year. Why dont we compare BMAC and Liriano? Liriano was never even drafted, so there's no real comparison when it comes to that. You could compare top pitching prospects to top pitching prospects which would arguably be Broadway, Liriano, Verlander, Sowers/Miller and Luis Cota I guess.
  6. If I can't get to a TV and the Sox are playing I'll put on the radio. I really don't give a s*** who's doing the broadcast, if I can't follow the Sox any other way I'll put on 670.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) You know who I really like, the guy who does the Diamondback games. Thom Brennaman? He creeps me out because his voice does not match the size of his head.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) hmm, I heard that Freels problems were more coke-related than alcohol related. Well, most recently he was charged with Disorderly Intoxication in January which was later dropped because he performed a couple hours of community service. This was related to alcohol consumption but hey he could very well enjoy the powder as well.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Would like to hear a reasoning why...? Freel has out produced podsednik in the last two years. Freel is a better fielder... he can of course play several positions... he is extremely fast (yayaya)... he has made a smoother transition from the minors also. Freel has a much better eye than podsednik... and most importantly he has never had a fluke/aberration season in the majors like podsednik has... which in turn makes people think podsednik is better than he is in all reality. I am sure people will say freel cannot play a full season and out produce podsednik, well in 2004 he had 505 at-bats he had a .375 obp which is only .004 less than podsednik's career high of .379. Podsednik also had to hit .037 points higher to accomplish that obp. Fact is this team would would be better with freel than podsednik. Also, i have come to accept the fact (actually did before we got him) that podsednik is just a mediocore player (being generous). Freel has serious baggage though, he's probably a better player than Podsednik but he couldn't make it through a year here without picking up a few DUI's.
  10. I love both Justin Morneau and Jonny Gomes, depending on which position you need a guy at more, either 1B or OF you should go with that guy. Morneau plays a position which at times could be somewhat hard to fill but Jonny Gomes is in a better offense and just seems like he's going to blossom into a massive power hitter.
  11. I enjoy punching inanimate objects with a cigarette lighter in my hand of course to reduce the risk of busting my knuckles.
  12. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) I might take my brother's in law Cub tickets when the Phillies are in town to greet Aaron. Any chance he gets a mini standin-O when he comes to bat for the Phils at Wrigley? He'll more than likely be boo'ed.
  13. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) Wonder how hard Kenny pushed to put Politte in that deal instead of Viz if at all. I think it's safe to say that thought never even crossed his mind.
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) true, dep is by far the best. :rolly
  15. Wow, WFLD is currently airing "Bart Star" which is one of the greatest episodes in Simpsons history. Homer takes over a Pee-Wee Football team with hillarious consequences.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Is there a limit for wearing your alternate? No, if they wanted to the Sox could wear the black jerseys for the rest of the year.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) They have a habit of showing the newer ones too much on the re-runs, but they're showing some older, good ones right now. Just this week they've shown the one where they go to New York and the one where Homer joins the Naval Reserve. Those are both pretty good, and it looks like they're showing my all-time favorite "The Cartridge Family" (Homer joins the NRA) tonight. The NY episode is probably my favorite of all time, I saw it yesterday on WFLD and I laughed through the whole damn thing. There is nothing better than old time Simpsons episodes.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) I wonder if the Sox/Comcast/The Score were too cheap to pay him something respectable. Robin said he's not interested in doing any broadcasting or baseball coaching right now. He's very happy as a girls high school basketball coach.
  19. The pitcher selects what jersey the team will wear that day. The Sox wore the black alternates in the final game Vs the Royals and won there for they have to keep wearing them until the team loses, they did this last year as well. The alternates can be worn anywhere whether it be at home or on the road and you'll more than likely be seeing them until the Sox lose a game.
  20. So they're going strickly by talent right? Burnett, Prior, Mussina, Mulder, Colon, Glavine and Schilling? all been hurt or sucked recently and with some both apply. Mike Mussina had a 4.41 ERA last year, scary.
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:05 PM) Nah, there's always Deploderer It's really not that close at all.
  22. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Is it supposed to be on tonight? South Park airs Wednesday's at 9pmCT.
  23. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) Old Simpsons>south park > old family guy> new family guy> New simpsons Old Simpsons> Old South Park> Old Family guy> New South Park> New Familyguy> new simpsons
  24. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Its pretty apparent why Cartman aka South Park hate Family Guy. If you watch an episode its basically 95% non sequitur material. Hence Cartman's statement that when he makes jokes they are relevant to the developing plot line. In the grand scheme of things Family Guy is below South Park, which is slightly below the diety level of the Simpsons. As even South Park gave the Simpsons their due respect in the episode "Everything is turning into the Simpsons" or something to that effect. "Simpsons Already Did It"
