  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) LOL at Frank Omiyale Horrid
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) The coaching staff is brutal. How they will continue to have jobs after this week is mind blowing. Angelo is a huge problem we could of got a OL in 2nd round instead of s***ty Peah.
  4. Bears unprepared someone should get fired. Angelo is nuts to tell people they have a OL and WR they have none.
  5. Bears getting old and slow .................Chris Harris is all mouth no play.
  6. JR fired for the 900th time on Raw is old and stale writing.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 01:50 AM) I hope the NBA understands that very few people give a f*** about their lockout. People care when the NFL locks out because it's the kingpin. People care when baseball locks out because it's the only sport going on during the summer and it has such a long history in our country. The NBA has football to deal with as competition into January. It has the NCAA Tournament in March. It has baseball in the spring. It even has hockey, which is growing, in the picture. Not to mention that the NBA regular season feels like the least meaningful of the 4 major sports since several teams who make the playoffs every year have no shot at doing anything in them (although that wasn't as much the case last year, but it generally is.) They don't seem to realize how much damage every lost game will do. It's not surprising, but it's ridiculous it has come to this after all the success the league had last year. They can stay out all year, both sides are overplaying there hand. NBA is not a pimple on the NFL's ass. 1st 2 weeks of NBA season have been cancelled!
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) You've gone out of your way the last few months to make it seem like the manager/coach has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the players on the field. I must say that I disagree with you on this. 2nd that................Walker was pathectic in his job and it translated on the field!
  9. Anyone else think Angelo screwed up again with Stephen Paea DT as a 2nd round pick inactive for EVERY game so far? You do not draft players in the 2nd round not to play, good teams need them to contribute!
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) death knell NAIL to me!
  11. Walker leaving not so fast, he has job for life...................Per Tribune Greg Walker's options for 2012 include staying with the Chicago White Sox's organization in some capacity as long as chairman Jerry Reinsdorf continues to run the franchise. "If I leave, I want to leave on good terms with Jerry Reinsdorf," said Walker, who had dinner Friday night with Reinsdorf. "I can't tell you how much he has done for me and how he's treated me as a valued member of his family. It means a lot to me." Walker admitted he was surprised by the hiring of former Sox great Robin Ventura as manager but lent a strong endorsement. "I talked to Robin," Walker said. "He's one of my favorite people in baseball. I have a great connection with Robin." But Walker said Ventura deserves a clean slate in naming his coaching staff and did not express an opinion on who should replace him after nine seasons as hitting coach. "I wish the next person the best," Walker said. Walker said he has been contacted by Atlanta and San Diego but "there is nothing pressing." The Braves are in the midst of organizational meetings following the firing of hitting coach Larry Parrish, and San Diego released Randy Ready. He owes Walker nothing. This job for life nonsense is a joke IMO.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) I like McEwing getting the 3rd base job, but the Mark Parent hiring is bizarre IMO. The relationship to Robin seems fuzzy and he's only had two years of minor league managing experience. Hopefully we find out more in the press conference, because I'm not impressed with this move. Sharing an agent years ago adds alot in game tactics.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...an-diego-padres He has no shot ...............NONE!
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/..._medium=twitter Very underwhelming choices to say the very least. The hitting coaches mentioned not much better. The loyalty factor of this organization is a death nail.
  15. The Chicago White Sox received permission from Philadelphia to talk to Double-A Reading manager Mark Parent about their vacant bench coach position, a Phillies source confirmed Monday morning. Parent, 50, managed Reading to a 74-68 record in 2011. He and new Sox manager Robin Ventura were represented by John Boggs during their playing days. "That's the connection," the source said. "Mark will be good." He gets a chance to be the bench coach because they had the same agent when they played!
  16. Danks for 2 real good specs would be realistic IMO.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) Seriously? With a manager that has no experience at all, we'd hire a bench coach that has no major league coaching history? That's about right. I do not get this at all .............Sox should place an ad in the paper that says no experience required!
  18. With the hiring of Ventura, KW has bought himself at least 3 more years of SOS!
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I keep thinking this is a thread on the morning after pill when I browse the forum topics. Now that made my day!
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Name three. 1. He Lied About Pitching and Defense – It would certainly seem that way. For a guy who wants pitching and defense to be the focus he hasn't quite done his job. He brought 10 time gold glover Andruw Jones to be a DH? Keeping awful Juan Pierre and Carlos Quentin out there to be his everyday outfielders. He brings in Teahan who is average at 3rd base at best and then moves Beckham, who seemed to be getting better, to second. 2. He lied about his kid being drafted and not knowing anything about it. Seems to lack an Organizational Philosophy....It's in Williams court to decide the kind of baseball organization they want to be. But they don't seem to know. Half the time they seem to want to be a Twins Organization where they build up and other times they want to play with the big boys and be buyers every year. But the White Sox won't throw big money at anyone in the draft. They won't even consider it. And then they sell off young pieces for talent that is often suspect. And then of course they waste draft picks on Ken Williams Jr. who wasn't projected to be any good coming out of college but somehow managed a pick in the first 10 rounds. Go figure. 3. Lies about getting someone at trade deadline EVERY year that makes a difference most times he gets no one and when he does make a deal it is for someone who was good 10 years ago.............Griffey, Alomar, ETC...ETC! I did not even bring up the latest Cowley/Guillen/Cooper situation!
  21. I voted no! I love Robin as a person, but as a manager with no experience not so much. I hope I am wrong, but manager's hired like this usually do not work out!
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) This morning on WGN, Pat Tomasulo asked Kenny about today's Sun Times article portraying Cooper as a clubhouse snitch who was instrumental in getting rid of Ozzie. KW's response-- "...It's... it's just wrong. But I'm not surprised because the gentleman that wrote the article, Joe Cowley, is just simply--if I'm being honest--a liar. And I can prove it from multiple multiple articles that he's written, and I'm looking into it actually to a greater degree because it's gotten to the point to where it's cast a shadow on us and it's unfair to a lot of people." I have got no dog in this hunt, but for KW who has lied so many times in his tenure I have lost count is like saying pot meet kettle!
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Or perhaps not. Manager salaries are not as available as player salaries, we may never know for sure what they are paying him. I am sure with a little research you could find out any manager's salary, nobody keeps a secret anymore. I know OG salary there is one off the list. Thing is I really like Ventura the player and the person and hope he is not being used in a JR/KW chess game.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Soxfest, I have no idea, but my inclination is that he gets paid middle of the road. We will see very soon.
  25. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) He could have said, 'Thanks but no thanks" You act like Ventura needs money, he made over $60mil in his playing career. Dave Martinez needs the money, Ventura doesnt. Ventura could buy Ozzie guillen. Ventura may not need money, I am willing to go out on a limb and say he is one of the 3 lowest paid manager's in the MLB when the money part of the contract comes out Friday. That is why people say he was hired on the cheap.
