In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) Except Borchard and Viciedo were both record-setting bonuses for collegiate and LA under 23 at the time of their deals. It is a fact Sox spent less on drafting players than anyone in baseball, last few years before slotted picks. June 3 2012 Chicago Tribune In the last five years, the White Sox spent only $18.3 million on the draft, the lowest total among the 30 teams and almost $34 million less than the Pirates, who have been the biggest spenders. That's the biggest reason that the Sox have a farm system that doesn't get much love from National media.

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) Kane & Toews helped a smidge. I agree, but the culture changed 100% once he left.

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Just a fact. The funny thing is the guy that actually put the team together was Tallon. Former Blackhawk long time Bill Wirtz guy. Bob Pulford the KW of the Hawks being fired that was when real change happened for the better. The rest is history.

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) do not forget the drafting and great farm system the sox have The only reason Sox have any decent minor leaguers now is slotted picks. If that would not of changed Sox would still be last in spending and ranked 30th. If not for that Rodon would never of been drafted, but someone Sox could of got at #3 they could sign cheap.

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Again, no GM is "100% on his own". Hell even Jerry himself has to answer to the Board of Directors. The layers of management the Sox have in making decisons is NOT working and has not for years.

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) If you want to point a finger at somebody for why we aren't having a good year, the finger should point at Rick Hahn. I wouldn't necessarily endorse firing Hahn, either, but the players just aren't very good. He was aggressive in the offseason but there was too far to go. The team has the talent to compete, but we were always going to have to get lucky. We haven't gotten lucky. Some of the players that are normally not that good are once again not that good. Big shock, Tyler Flowers, Geo Soto, Conor Gillaspie, Emilio Bonifacio, John Danks, Hector Noesi, etc. aren't kicking ass out there. As long as KW is over Hahn how can you really know If Hahn made all these decisions? I would like to see Hahn on his own 100% and judge him without KW around on his own merits.
