New Bears coach Marc Trestman recruited Tim Tebow to North Carolina State in 2006 and tutored Tebow in preparation for the 2010 Senior Bowl. "I believe in the right environment Tim Tebow will figure this out," Trestman said in 2010. "He doesn’t have explosive arm strength, but he has more than adequate arm strength to throw the ball in the NFL and make all the throws. ... If you’re a coach and you love coaching quarterbacks, you’d love the opportunity to develop Tim Tebow." CHICAGO (AP) -- A person familiar with the situation says the Chicago Bears have hired New Orleans Saints offensive line coach Aaron Kromer as their offensive coordinator. The person spoke Wednesday on the condition of anonymity because the move had not been announced. Kromer will work under new coach Marc Trestman, who was hired to replace the fired Lovie Smith on Wednesday. The Bears are trying to get more out of quarterback Jay Cutler and become regular playoff participants after missing the postseason for the fifth time in six years. Kromer served as the Saints' head coach for six games this season while interim head coach Joe Vitt was suspended for his role in the bounty scandal. Saints coach Sean Payton had to sit out the year.

Sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that new coach Marc Trestman is likely to retain Rod Marinelli as his defensive coordinator. Trestman and the Bears would be silly to dump Marinelli. The Bears' defense ranked fifth in yards allowed, third in points allowed, first in interceptions, second in forced fumbles and eighth in sacks. By keeping Marinelli in charge of the unit, there will still be some continuity even though Lovie Smith is gone. Source: Chicago Sun-Times

Bears hire Trestman I am on the fence not excited or mad. My only question If he was so good as media says why did he have to wait so long to get NFL head coaching job since 2004?

The Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure has been told Marc Trestman is the "heavy favorite" for the Bears head-coaching vacancy. McClure said earlier on Monday evening that he would "not be surprised if Trestman was the last man standing," so this takes it a step further. McClure's colleague, David Haugh, reports that Trestman and Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell are the only two that will be brought back for follow-up interviews while the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Bruce Arians is a third finalist.
