  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) Huh? I applaud robin Ventura for walking Cabrera. I applaud Ventura for handling sale this way. I applaud Chris sale for being a competitor. The peanut vendor was about to get applauded by hawk.
  2. This segment of the circle jerk society needs to stop. "I applaud x whitesox player/official/mascot for x"
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) What are the chances of the Sox stand pat and not make a major move? I would hate to see Rios, Peavy and Ramirez's contract not being moved. The front office has been reluctant for a rebuild. They might want to roll the dice again and see if they can surprise. We didn't rebuild in 2007. As much as we should tear it down this FO might not have the stomach for it. Worse case scenario we trade Rios only for C prospects and salary relief. Crain might be a waiver deal if he can't pitch before the deadline.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) First of all, Sox fans are being ripped on Twitter for being mad at Ventura, so I'm not the only one who feels the way I do. Secondly, you and I disagree on Rios certainly being traded. I, for one, don't think anybody is going to a.) give up any real talent for Rios and b.) isn't going to take Rios without wanting significant dollars from the White Sox. I personally don't see the Sox giving a team a lot of money in the deal when the return will be very very fringe prospects. Now, the fact the Giants once acquired Jose Guillen from the Royals makes me aware some team MIGHT be willing to take the sometimes lazy Rios off the Sox hands. Guillen also loafed at times and the Royals were finally able to dump him. But I do believe that was in the LAST YEAR of Guillen's deal with KC. In other words, I think it's 40-60 that Rios actually even gets traded. I do believe he may remain a White Sox til that contract mercifully expires. I don't really understand how Robin gets ripped in this Rios scenario. Rios is the guy who dogged it, do we agree on that? Robin did the only thing he could do to maintain respect in the game of baseball. Rios dogs it in the opening game of the second half of the season with the score tied for godsakes. If it was 8-2 Atlanta at the time, MAYBE you overlook Rios' stealing of a paycheck, but not in a 2-2 game. Robin's reputation was ON THE LINE, folks. Robin did the right thing and he has a new fan in me. I want Robin to manage the team as long as he wants to, now. Did Rios piss on your Ozzie Guillen number 1 fan poster.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) If we trade Rios, we have no chance to win the division. Brain damage, drugs, or troll. Still trying to figure out which one fits here.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) I can buy that. I'm just glad Robin finally had enough of Rios' crap and pulled him. That's how some people have to be motivated and obviously it worked. Grand slam. It's amazing how your logic process works. If you believe this then Ventura should be fired immediately for not benching multiple players in April and May.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Watch the interview of Robin's postgame with the media. He said "he knows," several times referring to Rios. It was indeed a no brainer. I would think a team would have to be crazy to take Alex Rios off the White Sox hands after this. He showed how much he cares about winning tonight. Proof is in what he did.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) Kudos to Robin for pulling Rios. Ventura told the media, "We expect more than that. It was simple." Yes like one of the mods said in the game thread, it was a no brainer. Too blatant to overlook. I mean, in a tie game?? Rios conceding a double play with a runner on third? If I was Jerry, I'd take the heat off Robin and DEMAND he be benched on Saturday as well. Give him a day off. Robin can't sit him another day for the gaffe, but Jerry could demand it. Robin Ventura gained a fan tonight in me, not that anybody cares.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) You know what would be funny? People are calling Ventura "dumb." What if Rios is actually so clueless he figured he was being traded so he hugged everybody? What if Robin just told somebody to go in for him and didn't yell at him for loafing? Could Rios be that dumb he thought he got dealt, hence the hugs?? Sort of like, "Oh. He took me out. I must have gotten traded. A lot of teams need gamers like me, Alex Rios." Yeah that's what happened. Rios is probably heading to the airport. Jokes on him, there's no ticket.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) The way things are going, he'll leave Peavy in after dominating for 100 pitches and he'll hurt himself Ventura will probably leave him in for 120 pitches and one inning too long.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) Andy, I beg to differ. Because of what Robin did tonight, he has won me over as a fan. I now am in Ventura's corner through thick and thin. It takes a lot of guts to pull a player like Rios after he dogs it and hurts the team greatly. Scouts are not dumb. They know Rios loafed. What the hell is Robin supposed to do? He is a leader. Arguably his best player slapped Robin in the face by not hustling. Had he hustled, Sox woulda been leading 3-2. It's Robin's job to win games. KUDOS TO ROBIN. This is one fan who now respects Robin Ventura a lot more than before the game. I now realize Robin has a total clue of what he's doing as a LEADER. Thanks for the laugh. Awesome.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) Good point, Dick. Wasn't Ozzeroo over 6-feet though? Obviously google is broke in Kansas. 5'11 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/guilloz01.shtml http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozzie_Guillén"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozzie_Guillén
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) For those of us who don't follow the minor leagues, tell me bout Hanson? Is he good? Is he another Ron Hansen? Tell me all. Does google not work in Kansas.
  14. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) If you pull a guy for effort, get his off the field immediately. Your pitcher shouldn't be throwing the first pitch of the inning until he's in the shower. Embarrass him. That's the point. Lmao, here is your timeout.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) Yea. I'm going with the benching. Benching a player you are actively trying to trade is about as dumb as it gets.
  16. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) The Braves radio guy referencing Simmons' BABIP makes me happy. I wish we had a tolerable broadcast crew. Math scares Hawk.
  17. Nothing like batting a guy hitting well in front of the pitcher.
  18. Hawk is now getting delusional. Hawk "If we could win this and have a good series it can change the thought process with the coaching staff and the 25 players" Whats the thought process to finally solidify 4th place.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 11:04 PM) Would anybody lose any sleep if Robin was fired after this debacle? I certainly would not give a s*** if he got canned. He's wealthy. He'd be fine. Why does it matter.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Why can't anybody ever drive in a run?? Lexi was on second with one out. Predictably, nothing came of it. Because the game is hard Greg. The best in the league fail 70 percent of the time. We don't have the best in the league hitting for our club. How is this difficult to figure out.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 10:51 PM) Remember when Lexi got that double in a tie game? Stranded him. Sox never put pressure on the opponent in close games. How bout getting a hit and taking the lead once in a while?? You continually fail in a tie game and finally, boom, the other team, even one as bad as the Cubs takes charge. Part of the zombie like mentality of this team has to fall on Robin. Hopefully Robin recognizes he may not be cut out for this and resigns after the season. Greg is hard to put pressure on a team when our offense doesn't show up.
  22. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 09:35 PM) The hell was that Loney.. Loney made the correct play. Not his fault the SS had his head up his ass.
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 02:01 AM) Good call, I got to remember to buy a copy of it on Friday when I head up there for the parade. I hope my copy from 2010 is keeping up well in the box. I just bought another waterford hockey puck to go in with the 2010 one I already have. It goes nicely with the the 2005 waterford WS baseball I have.
