  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 16, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) Aren't they mostly throwing errors and not fielding errors? His throwing errors are when his arm drops down a bit, and lets the ball sail. They are on routine plays, when he has time. To me thats more lack of concentration than any other issue. The timing on his errors aren't the best. The only thing it tells me is that the Josh Fields era wont be the Armageddon that we have been told about.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 16, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) I mainly want him to sit down because of the issues with his hand, let him rest a few days and hope it heals up a bit. You can't have a starting 1B with a giant puffy hand. When the have camera shots of you wincing with pain after getting jammed, and then you get your hand iced between innings. Its time to take a few days off and see if it gets better. Konerko is going to get fed a steady diet of inside pitches if his hand is still hurt. He needs a few days rest, and if that doesnt fix it then make it a retroactive DL trip. We need him 100% from the health standpoint.
  3. Here is the example of Hawk and his pick and choose blame game. He is now blaming this game on the popup dropping, but seems to have forgotten about his favorite son over at 3rd not making a routine play.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) what exactly is wrong with OK's hand? They are saying its a bone bruise. I had something like that before taking an early march pitch in on the hands. Even with the aluminum bat, it hurt like hell. For a month or so, my hand just hurt like hell when my bat made contact with any part of the bat besides the sweet spot, any vibrations and the hand hurt like hell. The odd thing with that injury, everything else feels fine. Only pressing on the bone a bit, or batting hurts.
  5. Okay if Konerko's hand is that bad, he needs to rest for a few games or on the DL. edit: They have him icing the hand between innings.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Thome really could of gotten on the right path with that AB, but now I'm not sure he will ever bust out. 2 guys I thought were going to crush Garland. Thome and Crede. Their swings are taylor made for the Garland type sinkerballer.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) It's simple...when he hits it the other way, he hits it with authority. When he tries to pull it, he rolls over it. Its a bit more than that. If you watch him this year, he has a lot of pull fouls with home run distance. Thats a sign of guessing early a lot. His bat is a tick slow right now and the question is, age, injury, or mechanical flaw. That 92 mph fastball that was up in the zone, and that is normally a pitch Thome crushes.
  8. The sox need to find out, is this a mechanical slump that Jim is having, his bat getting a tick slow, or is he hurt. 2 years ago, and that ball just smashed the rally monkey off the scoreboard.
  9. I love having Quentin in the 3 hole. He is an OBP machine, sees lots of pitches, drives in runs, and walks a lot. I
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Taking 2-0? I don't like that at all. It was low. On 2-0 you select a zone to drive. You want a pitch up in that situation. The next pitch drove in on his hands, it was slow enough to get the run in.
  11. That hung up long enough, I was sure he was going to come down with it. Talk about seeing eye. Time to score some runs here.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) Wow this is slow. Jon is trying to be the Anti-Buerhle.
  13. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Hope you are right. Unfortunately, I don't share your confidence. His stuff runs over the plate too much. It has sink and all, but his sinker is not exactly a power sinker. He will make mistakes with our hitters on his changeup, or his two seamer that finds too much plate.
  14. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) I bet these 2 runs hold up. They will get to Garland. His stuff runs back over the plate too much.
  15. I notice Hawk gets angry when the kids make a bad play, but not so much when a vet does the same thing. He literally is getting mad over the mistake. Now for some reason Hawk is putting the blame on the pitching. Coop has to talk to the pitchers. What. Carlos messed up on that play, 3 fielders converging. It happens. But the venom from Hawk is interesting.
  16. Carlos came on hard there, but didnt make the call. No one wanted to make that call. Bad play.
  17. What about Aaron Hicks. He is a high schooler that looks to be 5 star quality. Rated as one of the best athletes in the draft. As a pitcher he throws mid to upper 90s. Clocked at 97 in his last start. From a hitter, switch hitter, and seem from the high school ranks at least that he is all world so far. Lots of everything, and lots of speed. Mark Gonzales mentions him as a possible target.
  18. QUOTE (heirdog @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) 2 things that bode well for his next start on Saturday: 1) Facing the SF offense 2) Matched up with Barry Zito, who's been even worse than him this year... The problem for Mark this year has been location and getting key outs when he's needed them. He will always give up a bunch of hits (save the no-hitter last year) but that young and somewhat anemic SF line-up should help his confidence in locating his cutter to both sides of the plate and not worrying about missing the perfect spot. Similarly, maybe we can get a big lead off Zito and further give Buehrle the confidence that he doesn't need to make perfect pitches with a big cushion. I see the old typical Buehrle-esque start upcoming with a CG, 1 ER, 8 hits, 1 BB, and done in about 2 hrs 47 min (mostly due to the White Sox scoring 5). For Buerhle, its not about his velocity. The velocity police are too worried about radar gun readings. Its more about location, and working righties in. When Buerhle is on his A game, he drives his cutter in on the hands of righties. When he has problems, he pitches away from contact and goes away all the time. If he keeps the ball down, and pounds the ball in he will be fine. I am not overly worried with Buerhle. In his games, he has been dinked a lot, and has had a lot of bad defense and poor run support. That has skewed his line a bit more than we give it credit for.
  19. One of the changes Coop made was during the pivot Floyd would wrap his hands behind he head as he rocked towards home plate. His hands now stay lower, and keep his balance set and his center moving towards the plate. This also allows for a pitcher to keep his eye on the target longer, picking up the catchers mitt earlier in the motion. Its a simple, yet very effective way of tweaking his mechanics a bit to help him throw a strike.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) Avatar. Done. On board as well.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 14, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. The error message is: ***STOP: 0X0000007F (0X00000008, 0X80154000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000) I had someone who knows computers somewhat well look at it and they couldn't find anything wrong. Nor could they get the blue screen to come up, which, upon firing up my computer again tonight, came up within 5 minutes. Odd. He thought it sounded like the computer was overheating. But I just turned it on and it's not hot at all and the BSOD still came up. I don't want to throw almost the value of my computer at Geek Squad to fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions now that they have the error code? I am a linux/mac guy and dont spend a lot of time messing around with Microsoft desktop OSs unless its for a security issue. Vista is kind of touchy with the device drivers and software. So verify what you installed on it recently, and if its the Vista version. It could be a hardware issue as well. But here are a few places to go look. That stop message Here is a Microsoft Article on it from technet. The one explanation that seems to jive with what you are saying from the previous post I posted. You made a comment about it running hot, maybe your fan is not working correctly, maybe your CPU is overheating. Check and make sure the fan is running, and you may want to turn the machine off, open up the case, and get some compressed air ( you can get that at any computer store) and blow out any dust. Thats about it. Not too much help, but at least it will point you in a direction. Good luck.
  22. Carlos Quentin. He is very good. Someone posted this on Cheats site. http://www.southsidesox.com
  23. Carlos needs to stay in that 3 hole, with Dye behind him. Thats the ticket.
